Sharing my experience to help others understand billing practices at Great Expressions…read more In December 2025, I was told I had over $100 in credit from a 2024 visit. I was never notified of this credit and only learned of it when I returned for care. I was told the credit resulted from my secondary insurance paying a copay after I had already paid that copay up front, and that the money was kept as an account credit rather than refunded. When I requested a refund, I received inconsistent explanations. I was told the credit could not be used in 2026 and that a refund required review. After follow-up, I was told the refund was delayed due to "pending services," even though the credit was from a prior year and recent services had already been paid by insurance. The credited amount also changed without a clear itemized explanation. There is also no direct telephone number to reach Great Expressions corporate, making escalation difficult. Patients should know they can ask for refunds instead of credits, especially if you have secondary insurance. They want you to pay your copay upfront, but they bill the secondary AFTER you pay, and refuse to give you a refund. CHECK YOUR RECORDS PEOPLE...

Her character and the way you treat people when u walk in the door is sooo important since u r the first encounter with the customer. She has been a breath of fresh air compared to the staff that use to be there. Kathyleen is the best, not to mention her style and makeup is always fierce. Thank you Kathyleen!!!!!

I got braces a while back with this practice and everything turned out well, I needed a new…read moreretainer recently but they recommended me to do a almost $1000 treatment instead because my bottom teeth had shifted. He convinced me to do a 3 month treatment with retainers, and that did not improve my teeth at all. I went back for a check up and then he questioned if I really wore them so he ordered another set of the same retainers and claimed to have been "better quality". I gave it another try and waited 3 more months to try again. I came back today for my follow up and he saw that my teeth didn't improve again so he started to accuse me that I never wore them for 22 hours every day and accused me of wanting to get free braces out of him. He told me "I will put you braces on right now if that's what you want, but me and the receptionist don't think you used the trays". I'm a grown adult and don't need to lie, especially after paying for the treatment. He's upset and claims that in his 12 years of his career, he's "never" had a patient where the treatment did not work and had a whole attitude about it and made it seem like I just wanted to get free braces, which was never my intention. SO I LEFT and I will be going to another practice because free braces was never on my mind. I DO NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE!!!!! This practice looks like it's going out of business anyways so save your time and money because he will trick you into spending unnecessary money!!!!

WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM DOUGLASVILLE DENTAL ASSOCIATES. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!…read more I am currently a patient at Douglasville Dental Associates, and I have regretted walking through their doors ever since my first visit. That initial appointment was a bad omen: they accused me of theft. Despite the receptionist on duty taking and posting my initial copayment, another staff member later questioned if I had paid. Instead of checking the system to see the posted payment, she leaned over right in front of me and asked a colleague if I had "truly" made the payment. In that instant, I was labeled a thief and a liar. The level of unprofessionalism made me feel as though I were in a hostile environment rather than a medical office in Douglasville, Georgia. Furthermore, they routinely charge me for services that were never performed or for items I never received. This office is easily the worst dental practice I have ever visited; the level of incompetence is shocking. There is often only one dentist on duty, and I do not believe he is qualified. He damaged my teeth and then lied about it. I have been waiting for a set of partials for nearly a year now. Even though they are fully paid for, I still haven't received them. I refuse to complete the transaction until Douglasville Dental Associates repairs the damage done to my front teeth. I strongly feel that if I were a white customer, I would not be subjected to this hassle. We live in a dishonest world where not everyone can be trusted. I spoke to the office manager, but she was of no help. Consequently, I am now forced to contact my law firm to resolve this matter because the practice clearly has no intention of doing the right thing.

I was looking for a professional dental office that provided quality care, and a friend recommended…read moreone of the dentists here. The dentist was kind, attentive, and highly professional, and the dental assistants also offered excellent care and customer service. Unfortunately, my overall experience was overshadowed by the assistant manager. On multiple occasions, she gave me incorrect information that cost me both time and money. One incident in particular stands out. I had an urgent dental issue, and my regular dentist was unavailable. The assistant manager assured me that another dentist was available on Saturday and could perform the specific service I needed. We discussed the procedure in detail, so I scheduled the appointment and made the hour-long drive. When I arrived, the dentist performed an unnecessary examination only to inform me that he could not complete the procedure because he was not the doctor of record for the initial treatment. He then offered an alternative, more involved service that I neither wanted nor requested. If he was unable to perform the procedure I had clearly described on the phone, I should have been informed beforehand. I was told the visit would be at no charge, yet I later received a bill for the unwanted exam. When I called to dispute it, the assistant manager--who had previously discussed procedures at length--responded, "I am not a doctor." She asked what she could do to resolve the matter; when I asked that the charge be removed, she said she could not, despite another staff member suggesting it was possible during a previous call. This was both frustrating and unprofessional. I also attempted several times to speak with the office manager, but my call was never returned. I was told she is rarely in the office and that most matters are handled by the assistant manager, even when messages are left specifically for the manager. Unfortunately, this seems to be part of the problem. Despite sharing my concerns with multiple staff members, nothing was resolved. I ultimately paid the bill to avoid further charges. The assistant manager remained rude and dismissive, and I informed her that I would no longer be returning to this office because of her conduct. She accepted no responsibility and refused to correct the billing issue. It's disappointing because the dentists and dental assistants provide excellent care. However, poor management and a lack of accountability from the assistant manager left me deeply dissatisfied. Actions like hers can truly damage a business. My search continues for a dental office that values both patient care and integrity.
