It took 10 days for our 2 apples to be delivered. I emailed customer service and they were less than helpful. The apples are huge a little sweet for our taste. A good Carmel apple but not great. Unfortunately we had to cut 1/3 of the apple centers out because it was rotten. For the $30.00 it cost including shipping they weren't worth it

Candy stores spelled "shoppe" instead of "shop" are always superior, and this was no exception. They have pretty much everything you could ever want: handmade chocolates and fudge at the counter, self-serve by weight bags of candy, and prepackaged. Most of it seems to be made in-house, and I love supporting local business. They also had a lot of Valentine's options out, since we visited the weekend before Valentine's Day. The were giving out samples of the almond butter crunch. So effective because it's not something I would've picked out, but it was AMAZING and I ended up buying some. There's something here for every candy lover.

The Concord GSCS appears bigger than the Manchester counterpart and has alot more chocolate calling your name. Learning from my previous visit, I stayed away from that side of the shop, so I can resist my addiction to cherry chocolate. Instead I opted for Coconut Shreds, which is one of my favorite flavors and they didn't disappoint! Also, kiddie size is a decent amount for less than $5.

Not what I was expecting...I saw a recommendation on things to see in Concord. With the old fashion spelling, I was assuming an old fashion candy store with the friendly old lady behind the counter. The staff was so busy chatting they barely paid attention to the customers. When I said it was my first time here and asked what ice cream flavor she recommended, I was mearly told that they all taste good. I don't remember the exact flavor but it was something like chocolate chip. The quality and taste was really good. My low score is based on the experience.

I ordered over 10 pounds of candy from their website based on the picture and description provided. What I received was nothing like the picture - it didn't Ben have the same ingredients. They want me to pay $30 to ship it back to them even though they were the ones that pulled a "bait and switch" with the ingredients. They are using a national brands picture to sell their cheap version. Bad business practices. I have let the national company know that their picture is being used to sell a cheap version of their product.

I have been a customer of Granite State for many years, and they are my favorite chocolate shop! I went in today to get my usual Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers - when I arrived the shop was almost empty. There were two people on staff - total - for the register and the counter! And one was on the phone taking an order! After I waited patiently at the counter for about ten minutes, the kid got off the phone and got my order. Then I had to wait in line to pay for another ten minutes - and both of the staff were ringing up orders! No one was minding the counters! By this time the store was crowded, with two people staffing the whole place! It's less than two weeks from Christmas. What business mastermind would try to run a candy shop with two kids staffing the entire place? read more

Best place for chocolate and ice cream in the country! This is a place I stop every time I am in New Hampshire. If I didn't know how good the chocolate and ice cream was I would have walked right out. The customer service was horrible! I stood at the counter while 3 teenage workers had a conversation. One looked at me but didn't even acknowledge that I was there. No smile, no hi...nothing. I finally said loudly "Hello, I am ready!" The guy did help me without any fuss but I walked in with my daughter, my mother and my aunt and we left spending close to $75. Yes I usually go over board buying a couple pounds of chocolate, ice cream, and of course NH maple syrup. Still the best place for chocolate but their customer service needs to improve! I did originally give 5 stars and I would go down to 3 but the chocolate is so good I can't do it. By the way they even make the sprinkles that go on the ice cream! read more

My chocolate loyalty lies with this small Concord shoppe. Est. 1927, the store is all but two rooms (two rooms of CANDY HEAVEN!). This store is a treasure. Their regular milk chocolate is soooooooooooo good. I had the pleasure of trying their ice cream for the first time the other day. Stopped by Monday in the early evening and three "kinder scoops" came out to ~6 bucks. Ice cream happy hour, there's a concept. The ice cream was super solid. They make the ice cream there. They make the candy there. The ice cream was simply amazing. Definitely worth investing in a waffle cone. Dark chocolate filled was my choice. Go here. Right now. Seriously, why are you still reading this? Best ice cream ever. Best candies ever (need a quick inexpensive gift for that special lady in your life? This is your place). They have a peanut butter sundae that is so good it's a sin. My summertime favorite is to walk over to GSCS, get a sundae, then walk over to the State House (just two blocks away), sit on the steps, and eat ice cream. read more

We go to Concord every year for Christmas and one or my regular pit stops is Granite State Candy where I buy Grandma Howard some ginger candy (her fav) and for myself some fudge, truffles, and anything else that grabs my fancy. Do you know the 50 cents line that says "like a fat kid loves cake" he wrote that at Granit State Candy (joking). They make their candy onsite and you can watch the process through the window if your lucky. read more

If you find yourself in Concord, NH and the rad history of the state capital doesn't thrill you.. Granite State Candy will rock your world.. or, your taste buds at least. Just lately they remodeled and expanded to have not only candy but an ice cream counter with your norm flavors but also specialty flavors.. my favorite is Ginger. They sell Maple Sugar Candy (yumyumyum) and they make a ton of great stuff like fudge, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate creams, & also have a sugar free selection (thank god for my future mother in law who doesn't eat sugar). This place is a step back in time and is right next to a great little park with a fountain and benches to enjoy your treat! read more

I have been going to Granite State Candy Shoppe since I was born with my Mother and Nonnie. I absolutely love the place and especially LOVE their homemade ice cream! Definitely try the cookies and cream. The candy is more on the pricey side but it is hand made and delicious. Also if you pick out your own candy and buy it not pre-packaged it is less expensive. The ice cream is very reasonably priced!!! This is a place to go with your family/friends and have a great time and enjoy the atmosphere. All the employees are amazing! It's a happy place to visit and makes you want to come back. read more

This is literally the best candy shop in the Concord area, Especially if you LOVE chocolate. The chocolates there are the most delicious, creamy chocolates I've ever had. I buy the chewy milk chocolate caramels whenever I can. Its NOT cheap, but its so worth it. They have such a variety. The only bad thing is its a pain in the butt to park near there, but if you are lucky enough to find a parking spot right infront you are all set. read more

The pink sugar mints and the coconut marshmallows are enough to make me want to cry - both so good! The ice cream is also really, really good. I've been going to Granite State for as long as I can remember. My grandmother took me here when I was very young to get candied ginger. I still remember how it was set up before it was expanded! Hands down the best ice cream I've had between both coasts. They always have a great variety of flavors with fun names that inspire you to ask what's in them. Their chocolate jimmies are made with real, homemade chocolate! Staff members are friendly and attentive. The store is quaint & filled with homemade chocolate goodies. The have a second location in downtown Manchester. Did I mention their chocolate jimmies?!? What more can I say, GSCS is a must for any ice cream aficionado! read more

I love this place! They probably have the best malted frappe I have ever had and it's starting to become a serious addiction. My girlfriend and I have started going there religiously about 2 or 3 weeks ago to get a frappe and grab a few pieces of the wide array of chocolate. If you go take a trip a Concord this is worth a stop even if it's out of your way. read more

Not going to lie, I take a really long time deciding what to get when I go here because everything is just that good. The smell of all the amazing things will induce drooling so be careful. You can't go wrong with their ice cream...or fudge...or truffles. They have a great location in the center of downtown Concord. You won't be disappointed! read more

My son and I went in a "best of NH" road trip last Saturday. Stopped in the candy shoppe knowing they had great ice cream. Wow they were right! A third generation family run business specializing in homemade gourmet chocolates, fine confections and super premium ice cream, made with local ingredients since 1927

History

Established in 1927.

Peter, our grand dad and founder of the Granite State Candy Shoppe, came to Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1907 from a small Greek island. In Lawrence, Peter found a job as a candy maker. He learned the trade and decided to move his family to Concord and in 1927 he opened the Granite State Candy Shoppe. My Grandfather retired and returned to Greece in 1956. His sons George and Costa ran the shop together until 1995 when my uncle George retired. George and his Wife still live year round in Bow, NH and my father Costa and his wife June live in Concord, NH. Truly a family affair, my mother June still works in the shop packaging chocolates as she has for almost 40 years. The store has been located on Warren Street in Downtown Concord ever since. While the shop has undergone some physical changes over the years, many of the products that my grandfather made are still available in the shop.

Granite State Candy Shoppe features wonderful chocolates and candies made right on the premises. This is a great place to get candy for all occasions.This candy shoppe has been in business for over 40 years. They have a great selection of their own homemade candy and fudges along with some items they do not make themselves. During the holidays you can get a box of candy for gift giving already wrapped... i just love that... less hassle, don't you think? :). The biggest plus goes to their customer service. It's outstanding; ALWAYS! A sweet smell and friendly people. They have the best presentation in the old glass display cases. I always go here if I'm looking for that special gift and when my little ones do need some sweet treats...:). We also enjoy watching from the viewing window the making!
