The bamboo box that it comes in is also delightful. Would recommend for anyone that likes the lighter Japanese cheese cake flavors. Creamy and light, perfect way to end a meal.

And yes! I had two slices of chocolate cake for breakfast just now. The chocolate was not too sweet and as a tiramisu lover, having mascarpone in this cheese cake was like amazing for me. Top layer is a chocolate mirror glaze, one side with roasted almond, non bake mascarpone cheese, baked chocolate cream cheese and a thin layer of the chocolate sponge cake. The whole pieces of almond tucked inside the cake along with layers of chocolate was so delicious. This is my favourite cake so far from cheesegarden. All the ingredients were a good marriage in the cake. I really hope Cheesegarden can make this a permanent item on the menu!

Their selection of imported Italian dried pastas, and olive oils were impressive. I picked up some D.O.P Morgantino olive oil which is FANTASTIC on everything. Their A Bumba Calabrish spicy oil is also awesome, had to stock up! Their jarred mushrooms in oil are to die for, served on top of toasted baguette. I want to try their Burrata next time :)

Imagine my surprise when I pulled into the driveway and realized that I had been there years ago. Years later, my observations still hold. This is a great place to get very fresh Canadian made buffalo mozzarella and burrata for an amazing price. It's the same Bella Casata that I find at my Longos, but much cheaper and with longer expiration dates. For example the Canadian burrata runs $16-18 at Longos and was $10 here! Brie was on special $10 a kg, so my kid got a huge wedge for $4. Sone of that went into the freezer. We also got a gorgeous braid of bocconcini. This would be gorgeous on a large cheese plate. We just ripped it into pieces and made it part of a rustic and yummy caprese. There was also a nice special on prosciutto and we did not buy enough as most of it disappeared minutes after arriving home.

Just one look at that sun-faded sign on Yonge Street and you know immediately: this place has…read morecharacter. Mamma mia--they don't make signs like that anymore. No, signore. And that sign points to a true midtown institution: a warm, old-school Italian shop brimming with tempting cheeses, cured meats, and all sorts of intriguing groceries. But let's be honest--like many people, I come for the sandwiches. My husband likes to mix it up, but I'm forever loyal to the house special: shaved prosciutto and spicy salami, buffalo mozzarella, hot peppers, fig jam, sliced tomatoes, finished with balsamic and olive oil. You walk in, choose your bread (ciabatta, naturalmente), and they hand it over tutto pronto. It's a big, bold, mamma mia of a sandwich--and I absolutely love that mix of flavours. Molto bello!

La Salumeria's house special layers various kinds of deli meat, cheese, hot pepper pickles, tomato slices, and fig jam onto your choice of bread, and each mouthful bursts with a combination of flavours. Spicy, salty, sweet...! Just perfect. One sandwich usually lasts me 2 meals. I love looking around the store while waiting for my sandwich to be ready. There's a variety of deli meats, cheeses, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, spreads, etc. All neatly displayed and clearly labeled. It's nice to see a store that feels like a true neighbourhood mom & pop shop, with Carlo the owner recognizing regulars and exchanging friendly banter. Feels cozy While I am not a regular, he's still quite friendly.

The staff are friendly and super knowledgeable about both the cheeses and wines they sell. I appreciate that there is a fair amount of their cheese selection dedicated to Canadian cheese makers/farms. The ambience is an upscale store with a warm feel. I think you can also get a drink and small things to nibble on while you're there. They offer local delivery, which I used last Christmas with no problems. Basically, this is a local gem. Yes, the prices are on the higher side, but you're paying for real quality. Next time you're in the neighborhood, why not at least drop in and take a look around

Mmm... 64 slices of American cheese... 63... 62…read more.. Firstly I'll just put this out there just cuz: Growing up this address was a Cambodian restaurant ran by a friend's father who was a Cambodian army officer and kept talking about one day returning to his homeland to help with demining efforts (the legacy of the dark Khmer Rouge era). Right now this address hosts Good Cheese, which when it first opened felt like a gentrifying jab in the area (what, a wine snack bar in East Chinatown, what whitey madness is this?!), but never got around to trying it in that phase. During COVID they didn't just like many restaurants at the time pivoted to selling bottles, they revamped themselves to be more of a gourmet grocery, which is the iteration I am only familiar with. They still have some bar seating if you ever so inclined to have a glass and a bite. Though mainly you're probably here to admire the top-to-bottom shelf after shelf of gourmet goods from local and imported sources--jams by Kitten & the Bear; French chips in interesting flavours; chocolates; $10 and up canned sardines and other seafood, elevated stuff you won't find elsewhere to treat yourself or cook up a special meal. Wine and beer to take home--fridges stocked with a variety of Ontario craft brews not even the LCBO carries, such as Badlands and a couple Ottawa breweries (Tooth & Nail, Dominion City) I came across on an Ottawa trip. There's a bit of an European-esque grocery vibe to this place, complete with passionate and sometimes quirky staff. And of course there's cheese--good, fancy cheese.
