Initially, we had a little trouble getting a hold of them to make the reservation, but once we had that taken care of it was pretty much everything we could ask for. We arrived later on in the evening the first night, so we couldn't actually see much around the B&B and went to dinner. We came back, opened a bottle of wine, sat on the back porch, and stared at what was probably the most stars either of us had ever seen. Then we went to bed. When we woke up, we were not expecting what we saw - shrouded in a morning mist (sounds cheesey - but this is the real deal), the back of the place overlooked the Moose River, a calm portion that almost made up a small lake. It was really amazing, and as it cleared up we were just thrilled to have chosen the place. Access to free canoes and kayaks - which we took full advantage of. The landscaping and area leading down to the river was very nice, a great place to relax after a day of being a tourist or after some light kayaking. The river was very nice, meandering with houses here and there along the shore, perfect for a lazy canoe or kayak trip. Also lots of turtles, water birds, etc., I'd imagine the fishing would be pretty good too. They also have a sweet, sort of vintage tandem bike - good times. We went to have breakfast - a really nice continental - and the owners were really lovely. Super friendly and helpful re: getting around and finding things to do, Stuart and Jimmy were really great. They weren't obtrusive, but made sure we were well taken care of. The room was very nice, everything was sort of an Asian/Northwoods/Antique-y mixture that wasn't too gaudy but you still knew you were in a B&B. If you're planning on hitting upstate New York and you want to stay some place affordable (it was $79/night for 3 nights during the week - you can stay at a crappy hotel for that much or more), this is not to be missed. Friendly, beautiful, and really close to perfect to be totally honest - we were fully satisfied and talk about going back whenever it comes up.

I am so glad we stayed....the location is amazing, and the view from our room was breathtaking. We actually arrived after dark, so we didn't really have an idea of the surroundings when we fell asleep but the inn is just charming inside, so we knew we'd found a gem. The B&B is situated right on the Moose River, and we awoke after a restful evening to birdsong and a clear, lovely day. We stayed in the Farquharson room; it featured a private bath and a large, comfy bed. The picture window was an ideal foil to the morning mist that was just clearing from the Moose River, and once the drapes were drawn back we had a gorgeous, sweeping view of the river and the lush backyard. After getting ready for our day, we headed downstairs and were pleasantly surprised to find several small, cafe-style tables in the dining area. In most B&Bs that we've experienced, there is one large table that can make for a great or horrible experience over breakfast, simply depending upon your table mates. With the small tables, we could choose to talk with our neighbors or not, which is great for one who is not completely sociable prior to her first cup of coffee in the morning. Breakfast was delicious - we started with fresh fruit and yogurt, and then moved on to an amazing, golden-toasty-brown quiche and yummy potatoes. The rates are beyond reasonable and this inn is not to be missed - if you're in the Adirondacks (or just pining for a weekend away), you need to stay here!

Bonnie the owner asked me to call before arriving. So at 2pm I called and left a voice message of our arrival at 5:00. When entering at 5, she stated no call was received, and the room was not ready so we left for dinner. When we came back, we were told there was no room key. After speaking with another quest they also had no way to lock their room. Then Bonnie stated the wash cloths could not be used to remove make up use only wipes only. (OK) Next day we stated the room did not have to be re-tided. When coming back the door was wide open.( Forgot to mention the shades are old and slightly torn. I had trouble keeping them up, so I tied the blind string together for privacy.) She txt me at dinner stating she entered the room, and I ripped the blinds from the frames and would be charged on my credit card!!!!!! That issue was resolved when the strings were untied. No apology was given. What a night mare. We left as soon as we could the next day before breakfast was served and went to a restaurant to eat instead of staying for breakfast. Would never again return to this place. Very strange. This is my first negative review every given for a B & B.

We were fortunate enough to come at a time where there were no other guests there, so we had the whole place to ourselves! Check in was very easy, and Vicky is absolutely amazing! She was so helpful during our stay and made some absolutely delicious breakfasts. The first morning we had peach French toast with breakfast sausage. The second morning we had a bacon and cheese omelette with avocado toast. I for the life of me cannot remember the name of the room we stayed in, but it was so nice. There was a massive bed with a canopy over it, that was oh so comfortable. There was a fire place that could be turned on and off, that was nice to have in cold October. The bathroom was also so spacious, with a stand up shower and a jacuzzi tub. The house has this quaint elegance to it, and they have so much for you to do there. They have a bunch of different puzzles and board games you can play. They have a lot of older books you can read in their little library. They also had a TV that you could watch. The house is also sat right next to the Thousand Island Club golf course. They had two bikes my wife and I were able to ride around the area on. We absolutely loved our time here at the Hart House. And we have already been trying to plan a trip to come back!

Breakfast was varied, delicious and more than we could eat. Joan and Dan and the other breakfast guests made it feel like home without the cleanup. Our hosts gave us an overview of Cape Vincent, made dinner suggestions and were helpful way beyond our expectations. We'd go out of our way to stay there again. Great value. Sackets Harbor is a beautiful village with a variety of very good restaurants and interesting shopping. And, all of that is just a short walk from the inn. The Thousand Islands and Canada are an easy drive. There is a lot to do in the area, or just have fun doing nothing! We've been to The Candlelight B & B twice and are looking forward to a third visit sometime soon!

Lake Ontario is a very short walk away for great sunset pictures. Rooms are very nice, comfortable and quiet. Alice is a great host and can point you in the direction of anything Sacketts has to offer. Last time I stayed there, it was just an "Inn" as Alice was not serving breakfasts, but there are several places to eat breakfast in Sacketts and some are a short walk down the street. Whenever I travel to upstate NY, I stay here.

NICE PLACE TO STAY IN WATERTOWN, NEW YORK…read more========================================= Note to myself to always confirm hotel reservations, especially when my husband makes them. We arrived Thursday, November around 5:00 p.m. and we were supposed to meet a group for dinner. They had no record of our Expedia reservation and said that our reservation had been cancelled. This was not the case as my husband just changed it to add one day at the beginning and taking off one day at the end. After sitting in the lobby for about thirty minutes they let us check in until everything got ironed out with Expedia. The room was nice and quiet and the bed was very comfortable. It helps having free breakfast and coffee all day long too. I'd definitely stay there again.

They only turndown the room every 3 days, ok thats fine but i asked specifically for it to be done…read moreat the front desk the morning of the 3rd day (because this has happened multiple times) and upon arriving back to the hotel at 6pm the room had not been touched. Twice all of our towels were taken (even though they were hung up to be reused) and not replaced. The first night here there were used towels from the last occupant still hanging on back of the bathroom door (come on now). The TV just keeps going all digitally scrambled and totally unwatchable. Overall terrible experience.
