Recreational pickleball player. The store is (obviously) tennis geared but had a nice selection of Pickleball paddles. I had a great experience and Chase was very knowledgeable and easygoing. No upselling, no nonsense. I walked out with a paddle brand I never heard of (!) I researched the brand/paddle when I got home and found it had great reviews from various sources. I keep forgetting to write this review but I went to the shop back in the summer. I drove out to the shop from Queens to support a small business rather than order online and I had a great experience. The shop is well-stocked and the sales associates were very attentive to my needs and questions. I went in for a specific tennis bag which they didn't have (because the manufactures don't make them anymore) but they gave me another great suggestion. I was so happy I bought my tennis shoes there too (spur of the moment). Everyone was helpful and it made shopping there fun, they will definitely be seeing me around again. read more

I am a loyal Grand Slam client. The owner is knowledgeable about tennis and is willing to assist you with equipment options. Clothing Includes the latest tennis fashions at full price but the sale items are they way to go. Almost all my tennis skirts and tops are from the sale rack. I recently tried to find someone to repair a 30 year old tennis ball machine. I got extremely lucky when I called grand slam tennis and spoke to Jim Donnely the owner. I have not in many many years come across a man of Jim's caliber. He arranged to visit my location on a weekend. He spent three hours meticulously pulling the machine apart and diagnosing the problem. Needless to say their are no parts available. But with due diligence careful attention to detail and much ingenuity he was able to put the machine back in perfect work condition. This took place in two separate visits to my home. He went way above and beyond what I would ever imagine. His store in commack and his new store that will open in Miller place in June are a must visit for any one who plays or is thinking about playing tennis. His stores have it all , including the expertise in all they sell. It's hard if not impossible to find this type of operation any more. I haven't been to a store with personalized service in many years. This store has it!! The moment I walked in, one of the owners guided me through every step of the racquet selection process. I signed up for the trial series where I could try some racquets and pick my favorite. It worked! Instead of just settling, the father/son team explained so many points I hadn't thought of. At Grand Slam Tennis the knowledgeable and friendly staff know everything you need to know about the sport, the equipment you need and where you can start or find someone to hit with. I strongly recommend them to anyone in the tennis community. As a beginner I really enjoyed the sport and wanted to get some advice on racquet types to by. They told me about their demo program which is $35 for 3 months of demoing racquets. Once complete they take the $35 cost of the program and reduce the racquet you select by that amount. They don't force you into expensive racquets and they ask pointed questions to help you narrow down the wide variety they stock. If you play tennis in the area check them out!!! read more
