The Kurhaus is from another era (with wifi & webcams being the exception) -- which isn't a bad thing! The ambience and amenities make it easy to understand how people relaxed and took their holidays in the past.
The room rates may seem a little high vs. a self serve facility (or places in France like Flaine, etc.) but, when you look at what is included, it's great value. Their web-site provides a lot of good detail and information, including prices.
Nightlife and side attractions are minimal but after a day of high altitude skiing and hearty meals, a quick visit to the basement bar usually suffices.
The Kurhaus is a ski in/ski out location. Rentals, lessons, etc. seem to be easily arranged by the hotel.
If you're into some good skiing and don't need the crowds and bling, you should check out the Kurhaus and Arolla! Maybe I'm pushing this with 5 stars but, given the right snow conditions (which happens a lot), sunshine and lunch with wine, this place is as good as it gets. read more
