I discovered this place while writing a chapter for a guidebook on small inns. It does not look…read morelike much from the outside. But the rooms are museum pieces of old Swiss chalet life. Arolla pine walls and ceilings, featherbeds, antiques. And everywhere it all feels real. The family lives there and you will see the grandchildren running around. The views are naturally great. You can walk to the nearby botanical gardens or visit an underground Swiss artillery fort from ww2 just a few steps away. Down in the village is the lake with boats for hire and ski lifts. This is a simple old fashioned inn with excellent cooking of the bourgeois style by the owner and his wife. The guy has his own cows and shoots his own game. It is not at all pretentious but people from Geneva have made sure it is far from unknown. I ate there at Easter and there was no crowding at all. The restaurant is very simple, a large room with big glass windows for seeing the views. I have sent several friends here for romantic weekends and anniversaries and they all loved it, because it is unique. It is not for high maintenance types looking for a five star hotel. But in this day and age it is a revelation, to me, to find something so authentic and flat out charming. Rooms are small and each is different, most with balconies. They have put tv in the rooms now. Be warned that it is very simple. The owner is a big guy, rather shy and their daughter now takes a hand in running the inn. Check the prices but a room should run about 150 dollars, less than half what you pay in nearby Verbier

This is a special place. The cuisine is almost exclusively vegetarian (if you want to have meat,…read moreyou can mention it when making the reservation) and you usually don't choose what you eat. As a vegetarian, I found the experience very interesting. The dishes were simple (it kind of felt like home), but very good. The cook/owner and the waitress were very nice. The location (Chemin-Dessus) is also a plus.

This curious hotel has a real 1960's feel, and feels like it has seen better days. Old…read morebowling-alley shoe buffer machines by the elevator, and a yellow-brown pallor throughout. My friend's room had a lovely view of the mountainside vineyards and the traffic circle, but mine faced the parking lot. That being said, the shower was good and the bed was fine. There was no mini-fridge in the room, which was a disappointment because we had bought some local white wine and wanted to enjoy it in the evening. The Wifi is how the review below describes it - unreliable and completely frustrating. It would work, and then not work for a half hour, then work, then not work. The Italian restaurant connected to the hotel was closed, but there was another restaurant on the umbrella-ed terrace. The pizza was reasonably-priced (for Switzerland, that is) and we ate outside on a lovely day. I didn't pay for this room, and don't know the costs, but I wouldn't stay here again given the choice.
It looks like a nice hotels from the pictures, the location and…read moredescription. But it is miss-leading, the nice biulding seems to have been bpught by an owner who is running down the place. The essentials almost work, but don't quite work. The windows are too small to let any air in. But by far, my biggest disatisfaction is there supposedely WiFi service. They need to generate a user name and password every 24 hours. Once you get one, it will probabably ot detect their network because they use a made in China Router which gets overloaded within minutes (I am a network administrator). One of my iPad could get in, he pher one never connected. Once connected, you will get disconnected every 20 minutes with a bandwidth of about 0.1 mbps (can't download anything, just email, not even browsing). The worst is: hey know! but don't fix it!!
