My wife and I had to book a day before arriving at the Grand Hotel Oriente due to us missing our flight and having to cancel some of our previous plans. However, upon arriving at the hotel, we realized that I had booked for the date after when we actually arrived. Nevertheless, the receptionist was very accommodating, and was easily able to get us in that night. The hotel was very clean, the elevator and electronics are all very new, and the staff very friendly. All the receptionists we talked to speak pretty good to very good English, and were helpful each time we needed it. One of the receptionists wore a "crossed keys" pin on his lapel, which I didn't catch at the time but now realize it is a reference to one of my favorite movies, "The Grand Budapest Hotel." The hotel itself is about 20 minutes away from the nearby ports, which my wife and I walked to regularly to go to Capri and also to meet our tour guide to go to Pompeii, and the hotel is about 1 minute from the subway which we never used. Shopping and restaurants are on the next major street, within walking distance. Overall it was pleasant to stay at Hotel Oriente, especially since my wife and I agreed that some of the Italian locals can be quite rude, but the hotel staff was very nice. read more
