You can help yourself to a broad selection at breakfast and come the evening they offer a wide choice to choose from too. If you like live music, they often have big bands playing in the ballroom, mostly at the weekends but they also run special events at different times of the year. In the front bar they have smaller 1 or 2 piece bands to entertain. They have wifi now installed all over the hotel which is a great addition for people travelling who want to check emails / facebook etc.

It's lushness of greens here in bundoran is truly amazing. The sights and sounds of the water below is something wonderful. The staff here were super friendly on our short stay. Can't say we ate the food here, but it was a really comfortable stay for a couple of nights.

Our group of 9 had our evening meal in the restaurant last night. We were extremely disappointed with our meal. The steaks were all done the same and not as ordered. They were tough. The duck was over seasoned and the lamb was dry and over seasoned with mint. Now, having said this, it is the first meal of our trip and our first day of our stay. Last time we were here everything was amazing. I will let you know how breakfast was as I am heading in there now.

Room 306 was a damp cold fridge with the bathroom a freezer unit with barely running, nearly hot water, a toilet that failed it's only function and more often than not the electronic front door lock didn't release first or second time. John, a manager, was useless, a dullard; hospitality isn't his gig, if he worked for me I'd fire him and the cook. I met John coming from an adjacent room to ours dealing with another unhappy guest. He sent kids up to try to bring heat to our fridge. After hours on night 1, with young wait staff trying to resuscitate ancient radiators he offered us another room. It overlooked a car park instead of the sea. We stayed put - the only thing this place had going for it was a sea view. We were also close to the lift, 2 electric heaters were supplied but there's no way management didn't know this room was a fridge putting us here. How dare they think so little of guests. John never came to look for us. This was the worst of it. The real test is how problems are solved. He brought new room keys as we sat at dinner. He spoke to us if we passed him in reception but mostly ignored us; he told my wife the first morning he had phoned a plumber; my derrière. First night food - ordered mushroom tagliatelle but there was none despite having mushrooms, parsley and cream so I had soup - the sort served in a care home. The pavlova dessert was grim. It was served with alleged ice cream: ice crystals, sugar, unfiltered water but no cream - cheap rubbish. Their coffee is nasty only helped with pouring cream. I doubt there's a proper espresso machine about the place. Egon Ronay was lucky to miss this place. (Good coffee can be had at Buoy's & Gulls along the road). My wife had factory-produced, breadcrumbed fried chicken and grim factory frozen chips. Breakfast our first morning - alright tea; cheap unpleasant coffee, good porridge but I was refused an omelette. I could have had eggs: fried, boiled, poached, scrambled, so having put up with useless management and a fridge for a room I pressed for an omelette, after all, they clearly had eggs and a pan. I succeeded but this too left a bad taste. The waitress should have said no problem. A hundred thousand welcomes - aye right. On our second morning Geraldine was a breath of fresh air in this cold place. A powerhouse manager in waiting-nothing was a problem. The dining manager had all the obsequious charm of Uriah Heep with a liberal dose of self aggrandisement. In my earshot I heard him say to a young waitress that guests were more important (she told him a man was at the door to speak to him) oh please grow up - emetic really - pity the maxim wasn't applied to room allocation. The lesser important man might have been a plumber. Leisure centre. No. Nowt leisurely about it. The sauna was too darn cold and only held four. The hot tub (it held four at a squeeze) wasn't hot. No wonder I had the place to myself. The changing rooms too were cold and the hair dryer had a coin pay slot which I've never seen before. I had a massage as part of the deal and didn't go now that's also a first. We had a 4 course dinner in our deal. The prawn pil pil starter was ok; good portion but it was not seasoned. It had no discernible smoked paprika (that's what makes pil pil). It had pickled vegetables from a jar. The turkey & ham main was good. Hard to 'fowl' up turkey or ham; side vegetables were pre frozen again care home food. Dessert creme brûlée was goodish but lacked the hardened caramelised sugar top that makes it brûlée. It had no discernible vanilla. Once heated, our room was pleasant, the bed cosy but not properly cleaned. We had popcorn and a bit fell on the floor under the table. It was still there post room cleaning. The water never got to hot and was usually just over a trickle. If another room ran hot water ours didn't run at all so the room kettle wasn't just for tea. I've written hundreds of reviews. I rarely criticise to this degree. This just barely made 2 stars. There's no satisfaction in this type of review but if it's poor or terrible then I'll reflect it. Only those who own it can save it longer term.

Plus points - When you arrive there is lots of free offroad parking available (very useful as cars are handy to have to visit nearby locations) - Location is close to the beach in Bundoran, and easy driving distance from lots of other pretty beaches (e.g. Tullan Strand and Rossnowlagh) - From my room (307) there was a sea view, and fairly quiet at night - Breakfast was good and plentiful - Staff were friendly and available 24/7 - Room was really spacious (twin room = double and single bed), and good mirrors - Free use of swimming pool and leisure centre Less positive points - Water pressure in shower wasn't great (one shower I had the water just stopped completely mid way through!) - Could be noisy at night (one of my friends was located close to a local nightclub) - Not enough toiletries (e.g. one shower cap for 2 people). I'm sure we would have got more if we'd asked, but shouldn't have to. Slightly unusual - Have to give back your key when you leave for the day (although it's returned to you at the desk easily enough). At night, the front door is locked so have to ring to be let in (residents only after 11.30pm) Overall it suited our purpose - was a comfy place to stay with friendly staff and filling breakfast. But this is me and this is my story:), and thinking FUCK IT is what led me to be eating dinner at the Peak on October 15, 2011. My voyage to the Peak started on Facebook a few years go with some connections with some old school friends, and it grew and took wind beneath its sails with time until WHAM...about 30 of us descended on the Peak on a Saturday night in early October 2011 for an awesome trip back in time with the Ard Lughaidh Class of '86 Reunion. What a beautiful restaurant. Overlooking the Atlantic ocean crashing down below on the rocks. Was it a coincidence that this restaurant was built upon the foundations of the hotel where we all celebrated our Debs Ball in 1996 (I use the term "celebrated' loosely...I for one have no recollection of events after midnight). Its a beautiful setting, especially so now that I'm a grown up and can appreciate such things. The restaurant itself is a very open plan design, with a main bar area when you walk in where you can congregate and wait for your party. With a dance floor and a baby grand piano, the star of this show is their full frontal of the Atlantic Ocean crashing in on the beach. Happy memories of that beach :) The food was great given the fact that we were a huge group. I can't say that anything stood out in my mind as being exceptional but you have to realise that given the circumstances we spent so much time talking it was a non-point for me at that stage. The location is very nice as there is a fabulous view over the Atlantic ocean thanks to the big wide window. The quality of service was excellent, we felt like we were VIP. We first sat with a cocktail at the bar waiting for a spot to sit, we were privileged to get a table beside the window and once we were sitting they provided us with a free starter made of scallops. The staff was always very warm, welcoming and very helpful, we clearly see they enjoy what they do and go the extra mile for their guests. This is the first time I insisted to leave a nice tip for the staff. The food concocted by the chef was wonderful. I opted for the monkfish dish and this is the best recipe I have ever tasted! The monkfish was perfectly cooked and the nuts-made sauce was melting in my mouth, i can still remember the taste of it! My boyfriend had a perfectly cooked sirloin steak. I must recommend this restaurant!

It is right in the middle of the main street in town, well within easy walking distance of any pub you want to go to! Booking this place was fine, they were friendly and helpful and had no problem booking multiple rooms however they did want each person to pay a €50 refundable deposit, how weird was that? We figured they must get lots of rowdy parties or something, and when i saw the great location i think i was probably right! Anyway, we pulled up to the hotel and outside were the roughest looking Donegal people i have ever seen, they were having a smoke outside i think, anyway we got past these thug lookalikes and into the reception area which was not so nice! Two ripped leather couches and a rickety chair infront of a computer made up the biggest features besides the reception desk which was dark and unwelcoming, again though the girl behind the desk really was very nice! We got our keys to our rooms anyway and went on up in the dodgy lift, the rooms were not the most pleasant either although they weren't as bad as the reception would have you imagining they were like, there was only one cigarette burn in my blanket on my bed and otherwise the sheets were clean! ( im trying to be nice!) there was a strange lump in our bath too which we thought was some type of bug but it never moved the whole time we were there despite several blasts with the shower hose, not sure what was up with that. While we are talking about the shower i will let you know that after one shower the bathroom resembled some flood ravaged room rather than a bathroom, whatever way the shower worked it simultaneously squirted water at you and out around the shower curtain into the bathroom itself! Despite all these faults we found they had their uses, nobody else seemed to be in the hotel, just the 10 of us and one other man we spotted. It was mid week, just so you know! Anyway because of this we found that having a party in our room didn't go down too badly! Pubs in Letterkenny closed at 1.30 or os when were there, far too early for us! So the party continued with a 2 litre bottle of Smirnoff acquired from a local who did a deal with a known barman for us, great craic! The party went on until about 5.30 that morning and not a word was said to us!
