For what it is, it's fine. By that I mean after staying for weeks in Airbnbs all over Ireland, all of which had their own special touches, charm, and amenities, this hotel felt a bit minimalist and impersonal. Location was FANTASTIC. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was on the small side. The staff is clearly doing their best to maintain COVID protocols and keep the ship righted, but I did notice that high-traffic areas like the carpets in the hallways and next to the restaurant were quite soiled (it is winter, fwiw.) We were awakened 2 of 3 nights during our stay by loud, obnoxious guests coming back (from pubs, I'd guess?? Not sure how given the restrictions?) at 1-2am. It really was the behavior of other guests during this current Omicron surge that made us most uncomfortable. There's only so much the staff can do. The best part of the room/experience was the river view with the balcony (we had a deluxe room.) There were some parts of the room we didn't understand, like what looked like a light inside a glass-paneled area in the armoire. However the light never worked. In sum, it was fine, though if we are going to pay that much for lodging, we'd probably try to Airbnb a place with more privacy for slightly lower price. I'll finish by saying again that all the staff we interacted with were excellent.

Nice balcony w river view had no chairs until we asked for them. Night table chipped and wood raised. Grout missing in bathroom floor. 4* hotel??? Doesn't seem to be adequately maintained, and the room is rather small. We had great service from the waiter in the hotel restaurant, where we had dinner one night because they had a decent special in the bar area. That, and the excellent location, has me giving it three stars. But the hotel itself was a disappointment.

Great deal - talked them down from 120€ to 89€ for the night :) that's two people twin room in July :) Always look for a deal!!! It's a place to rest the head for the night and I was happy enough with the room. Nothing amazing but it was clean and a great size.

This hotel is pretty nice. We had a big room with a great view. The window opens a little so you can hear the river! The bathroom only has a shower, no bath and I think ours was a handicap bathroom (the sink was super low to the ground and the shower was kind of part of the bathroom lol nothing to step into). They have a restaurant and bar area downstairs. At the bar area they had a special that was buy a main dish and get a drink (house beer, house wine, or soda) for €15. The breakfast is good! Traditional Irish breakfast with a fruit and yogurt buffet, different cereals, pastries, and juices. You have to pay €3 for parking and you can pay at the front desk. The parking structure is actually 3 stories and you work your way down if you can't find parking.

I would have loved to try an evening meal during my recent stay but I only had time for a breakfast. The following morning called for only one type of breakfast - a large fry up - bacon, fried eggs, scrambled, hash browns, sausage, you get the picture. Although there was plenty of healthy options available too if you were inclined. It's been a while since I had a really great fry and with fresh orange juice and coffee served it was delicious. If I'm back in Sligo I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu.

Hotel car park quite difficult to find with Sligo's one way system, you have to drive along the front of the river facing the hotel and then around the back. Free car parking not available, €3 per day is charged at check out. We stayed in the deluxe Riverview room. Very spacious, with king size bed, free WiFi, ironing board and iron, kettle and tea, coffee and milk, bath robes and slippers, tv with local and free view channels. Good sized balcony overlooking the river. Breakfast served from 7am to 10am. Buffet breakfast, fried foods, cereals, fruit, pastry's, juices and smoothies available or omelettes and other breakfasts available to order. Hotel bar was also overlooking the river, full menu available until 9.30pm, bar open until 1pm. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Recommended some fab places to eat and go out. Hotel is located centrally to all shops, restaurants and bars. Will definitely return.

Cool and easy location to access Sligo. Clean rooms. Breakfast buffet was good but the sausage Pattie's were very dry

The design alone is impressive as it is situated on the river and looks like a ship docked in harbor.

I stayed here in August for the Fleadh Cheoil, an annual traditional Irish music festival. The…read morestaff was quite busy during this time so hard to say this is representative of the hostel during more normal times. I made my reservation on the hostel's website for 2 nights in a 4-bed dorm. But when I checked in, the reception initially couldn't find my reservation. Then when they did, I got placed in an 8-bed dorm instead. Unfortunately the dorm was mostly a group of guys from Derry who talked in their loud Irish voices at 2am like they were the only ones in the room (there were also two others from Germany). My bed wasn't available during the check-in time, but no worries since I just wanted to set my stuff down and then walk around the city, albeit in the rain. POSITIVES: good kitchen facilities with two stoves cereal and bread available all the times, not just breakfast times nice common room with tv and fireplace. Great to hang out during a rainy day, which happens a lot during Irish summers big dining room to hang out 15 minute walk from bus station NEGATIVES wifi was weak in the bedrooms ran out of toilet paper the second day. this should be a regular check hostels do located in industrial area with not much nearby and about a 20 minute walk to the city center. I don't mind walking, but when it's raining, it becomes a chore. Harbour House has the potential to be a great hostel since the bones are there. Hopefully the service aspect is better when the hostel isn't fully booked.

Its clear to see from other reviews that guests at this establishment are treated like bold…read morechildren and school pupils. My experience was unfortunately not sparred by this. I have a severe allergy to cat hair. Never once in all my years spent travelling across Ireland have I encountered a commercial property such as a hostel, B&B or hotel having pet cats on the premises. With this in mind, I made a regrettable booking with Harbour House Budget Accommodation. After doing so, I inspected the reviews more thoroughly. Besides the general horrors that awaited me in the accommodation's many, many negative reviews; I was astounded to read that the owners had pet cats on the premises. As contact with cat hair would cause serious problems to my health - my obvious reaction was to cancel the booking immediately. The fact that cats are present in this accommodation was not stated on the hostels own website or on the third party website I booked through. It was not stated by the accommodation owners anywhere for that matter. If this information was present at the time of booking, I would not have made the booking. Obviously. Given the circumstances, I imaged my situation to be met in an understanding manner - how wrong I was. You see, the booking was non-refundable. This was a non issue as we had every intention of staying there. That was until I learned by doing so, I would be putting my health at risk. I called Vincent, the owner to explain my situation. Vincent was absolutely horrendous to deal with from start to finish. His tone and attitude were deplorable and down right unnecessary. He started by having the audacity of asking me to produce a doctors cert to validate my allergy. While this request could have been completed with great ease, it would have cost me €60 to do so - the exact price of the room I booked. He then started to argue that he never had any encounters with guests with allergies in the past. Even if this was true, does this mean people with allergies do not exist...? After a lengthy conversation, he very reluctantly agreed to a refund of 50%. I accepted this rate simply to have the luxury of not having to tolerate speaking with this condescending man any further. This situation is very simple; this business has a hazard on the property that prevented me from staying there. The existence of this hazard is of no fault of my own and there is nothing I can do myself to remedy it. This hazard is well known to the owners therefore it is the owners responsibility to make potential customers like myself aware of it. The owners have neglected to inform potential customers about this hazard therefore it is their responsibility to rectify any situation that may arise where the hazard stops guests from staying in their accommodation. They neglected to do so and as a result; I was entitled to a full refund. Very straight forward, but not to Vincent. It is clear to see that having spent years in the hospitality industry, an industry that is in no way suited to this man, has left Vincent very stubborn, bitter, untrusting and paranoid. The fact that this man finds it necessary or acceptable to let himself into guests rooms when they are out to go through their personable belongings and confiscate alcohol (another reviewers account) is beyond belief. Asking your guests to produce doctors certificates to validate their allergies is nothing short of embarrassing. You need to have a word with yourself. These accounts are to be expected within the walls of a primary school, not within the walls of a hostel with adult, paying guests. To sum up; if you are looking for a pleasant stay in the county of Sligo; avoid this place like the Bubonic plague. There are many, far nicer B&B's located closer to the city centre which are run by very friendly, approachable, accommodating owners. Owners who clearly know a thing or two about customer service and how to run a successful business. Stay absolutely anywhere else but here.
