ILLEGAL Move-on and I'm not trolling. $50 for a motorcycle inspection (Harley) on Thursday, 18 June 2026, clearly illegal in NYC (look it up, it's a $6 charge) ASK for his fee before you even think of going to his shop. There are plenty of other LEGITIMATE shops in Bklyn. This guy's license should be pulled by the DMV. read more

Aggressive boss who will try to charge $50 for a $6 inspection without inspecting anything. Don't go here unless you want to be scammed

The staff here is wonderful! The service was quick and my car sounds great. I'll definitely be back the next time I need something.

My favorite go to mechanic shop ! My boyfriend took his Benz here. Now I'm a customer with a Honda that comes here whenever I need servicing they are very assertive and get things done. read more

A few months ago, I brought my car in for collision repair. The service provided was excellent and the communication and cost were great. Recently, I returned to the same shop for an oil and filter change, and the service was once again top-notch. read more

Last year, I was in a bind to get my car inspected before my sticker expired. I messaged online with someone who said to just come in and wouldn't take too long. So I went during my lunch break and was in and out in less than 20 minutes. My other half seems to have been dealing with scammers to have his car inspected over the summer, so I also brought him here. They were super busy, and we were still out in about 35 minutes. Yesterday I went there for my yearly inspection immediately after school arriving around 2:50 and was well on my way before 3:30. Everyone I interacted with was super friendly, as usual, and work quickly to get you going on your way. I highly recommend this location. read more

Great service! Very efficient, fair pricing, and knowledgeable. After being involved in a car accident, Edgar the owner helped me throughout the entire process. I was in a car rental right away and a few weeks later retuned to my car looking like new. They are busy and why because they know their stuff. Returned a few months later for an NYS inspection and again didn't disappoint. I don't have tints, which are illegal in NY, and was charged $37. Staff again friendly and went about my day like nothing. Def recommend, Grand Auto is the place. I would not trust any of these bogus bad reviews, they seem to be crooked people asking for crooked business and then disappointed when they don't get their crooked ways. read more

Grand Auto Repair - All set! - Auto Repair Near Me - Ridgewood, New York

Needed our 2022 car inspected quickly as we just realized it was expired. Called the place to make sure they were open on a Saturday. The lady that answered the phone was very friendly and said they were open and that it was a "first come, first serve" basis and to get on over. So we got out of our pj's and drove 8 minutes up the road, right up to the bay, and the attendant/mechanic took us right away. There was no wait at 930am. In less than 20 minutes, we were done and on our way. Easy peasy. We had enough time to go next door (Gunthers) to grab breakfast sammys and iced coffee before we had to get back home. read more

****SCAMMERS DO NOT TRUST THESE VULTURES ***** Upon my visit, the lady at the front seat scoffed at me. I asked for a NYS inspection for my car. She said it would cost 37 dollars I asked her if they were even going to test my vehicle and she gave me attitude and said "okay well you need to talk to the inspector" I found the inspector after he had a brief conversation with the lady at the front desk. The first thing he said was my tints won't pass and it will cost my 137 dollars to pass them. I laughed and went down the street to their competition on flushing and they tested my car in 15 minutes, my vehicle passed every test INCLUDING THE TINT And they only charged me THE LEGAL NYS fee which is only 37 dollars. Do not waste you're time, money or you're energy on this place THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED.. read more

I've been to auto body shops in CA, TX, and NY & this without a doubt stands out as the most poorly run auto body shop I've been to yet. They treat every customer terribly & don't care about how long you wait. The manager was dismissive and said it's not his problem that they're busy. The lady @ the desk literally didn't talk to me for 20 min even though I asked her a question. They made me wait 3 hours for an insurance inspection -- something that takes 10 min to do. I didn't even up getting it done because Geico found me Blue Star Brothers in Glendale that did it within 5 minutes of me arriving. Go there if you can. So nice and quick service. AVOID this place. I wasn't the only one having this experience when I was there. And I'm sure I'm not the last. read more

My car was hit while parked and the whole driver's side was damaged including my rear tire. The police called for a tow and that's when I met Edgar from Grand Auto Repair. He said they would deal with the insurance for me. When I found out he wasn't a GEICO authorized shop, I was going to have it towed to another shop. Edgar offered to help me get a rental, but I wasn't covered under my policy so he offered to deliver my car when repaired if I left it with him. The insurance took a while to get an adjuster to check, but once that was done, the repairs were completed when promised. Slight problem after he delivered my car, but when I took it back, the repairs were done. Edgar returned my car to me even before he got paid by the insurance! He could've held on to my car, but he knew I was without a means of transportation. My family will go back to him even though it's not the closest shop. read more

Took about 30 seconds to realize that I would never want my car worked on here. The first words out of main guys mouth were rude and disrespectful. I was only going to get an inspection, but after a quick look at yelp I realized I'm not the first to have this impression. I drove 7 minutes to Ambato Auto Service where they treated me well and got my inspection done in 10 minutes. Don't give your money to these rude people. read more

There are not enough words to express my gratitude to Edgar and the staff. These guys went above and beyond through every step of the process, walking me through the entire Van and what I needed done. Not only does my van perform fantastic, but they were able to get it all done faster than I could have expected. (Brakes and rotors, oil change, filters changed, tire pressure sensor Replaced, serpentine belt, tire rotation, had a slow leak on one tire fixed, New York State inspection) all done while sitting in the waiting room. something that would've taken a whole day to do was done in just a couple of hours. I'm confident that I picked the right guys for the job! Thanks grand auto repair you are my go to guys! read more

Update! Scammer! Lied and told me they're a Geico affiliate. I believed them because Geico did refer me there for a state inspection. They left my car UNSAFE! Did not repair as Geico instructed. In addition to poor quality work (over spray, unmatched paint, uneven panels, poor details such as uneven and asymmetrical work), they did not replace the most critical piece - the impact bar. Why? Because I couldn't see it and there would be no way for me to know about this without disassembling the car and undoing the rest of the body work they completed. My insurer informed me if I got into a head on collision, I could have died!! Edgar is also totally unprofessional. 0 stars. read more

NYPD had my car towed to Grand Auto Repair. They replaced the front left door and bumpers. They did their job well, can't spot any difference from the original state of the car. read more

These guys are absolutely awesome! Our experience started through horrible circumstances but they now have two loyal customers. My boyfriend and I were in an accident that resulted in our car being completely totaled. Grand Auto was on the scene within the hour to tow the car and the whole process with our insurance was absolutely seamless! When we purchased our new car we took it to Grand Auto for the inspection and again seamless. Recently, our right trim came off the new car because we hit the curb in a narrow car way and they fixed it within an hour and at an amazingly reasonable price! Again they have two loyal customers now! Highly recommend! read more

I have gone to Edgar for inspections and most recently front-end repair. Each time has been a great experience with a fair price. The car looks really sharp. read more

Extremely sketchy, totally scummy, scammers! Do not visit this shop with any vehicle. I had brought my motorcycle here twice for an inspection. The first time, I had an aftermarket exhaust. He was going to fail me unless I paid $50. I came back a week later with the stock exhaust. The guy doesn't recognize me. He takes out a sound meter to check the decibels (literally no other inspection station does this with the SLEEP Act). There was another unfortunate motorcyclist with a clearly stock exhaust also getting the runaround. He claims we're both way over on the limit. As I pull away, he whispers that he can "give it a shot" for $50 and pass me. What a total trap, and a total douchebag. I almost immediately took my bike to a reputable motorcycle-dedicated joint (New York Honda Yamaha in LIC) and they passed me with flying colors. They asked about the stock exhaust, turned the bike on, checked what they needed to check, didn't pull out a bullsh*t sound meter, and sent me on my way with new stickers and $6 short in cash. Screw these guys - they want to pocket $44? - they can lick my boots. Think twice about bringing your CAR here. They are definitely scamming you in one way or another. If they want $44 from me, imagine what they want from you. You make Queens look bad. Kick rocks, assh*les. read more

I needed an inspection, everyone was friendly, helpful, and the process was smooth and quick!!! Thanks!!+

My car was involved in a collision and had rear body damage . My friend referred me to this place because I had no idea where to go and I'm glad I chose Grand Auto Repair to service my car. I dropped off my car and was put into a rental immediately. Edgar was professional and did a great job with communication and I was more than happy with the results of my car. My car looks better than before! Thank you so much Grand Auto Repair. I would definitely recommend this place for body work and all other vehicle repairs. read more

Edgar, the owner, is the ZENITH of unprofessionalism. He charges triple the price of most easy fixes, will lie and come up with a million reasons as to why he is charging that much like "there's only one part in the tristate area, i'm the only one around here with this machine, etc." The worst part is he never fixed my car and when I asked for a partial refund, he started telling me that he should charge me double. My car was left out on the street, unlocked, with my key in it as well. Find another mechanic, save yourself the trouble. read more

I had a great experience with Grand Auto. The work they put into my vehicle was outstanding. The customer service ROCKS. They are very pleasant to work with. The best choice is to call GRAND AUTO REPAIR and make an appointment. read more

If I could put zero starts I would. Grossly unprofessional and rude. So many illegally parked cars out front in such an unorganized way that we had no where to park so we pull up to the corner and the man who works there yells at us even though it's their fault they aren't directing traffic outside their business, literally pushing all the cars on the street into one lane even though they could take 2 minutes to reorganize and not take up any of the street space. After I said I'm going to pull around so I can park where he wants me to he yells at me that I can't go up the wrong way of a one way street... Which I am well aware of. And I told him I knew that and I'll pull around in a legal way he proceeds to yells at me for the last time that I'm not respecting him enough. What a big baby. I drove off and went to one of his competitors. Good luck with your terrible business. read more

This place is ok, but I have come to conclusion that mechanic shops generally suck. No professionalism. Why can't we have the "Apple" or "Google" of car repair. Dealing with my car issues has taught me a valuable lesson: buy good cars. read more

It's rare to find a mechanic who you don't feel is ripping you off. These guys are great, even if getting in feels a little ragtag because you can't just make an appointment and the parking around the place is a little hard to find. They charged my card $100 for an inspection that I failed because the computer said 2 monitors are not ready. Then when I question Edgar he became irate. Very unprofessional CROOKS!! And EDGAR I WILL TAKE UR ADVICE AND NEVER BRING MY BUSINESS THERE EVER!!! I even brang my Honda Civic there a few years ago and they wrecked my car so they can milk for more money. I would steer clear of that place. I've been getting my motorcycle "inspected" there for the past 3 years. When I say inspected, I mean the odometer was checked and a sticker was slapped on. Don't get me wrong, I was fine with that as I'd rather work on my own bike and conduct my own inspections. As long as the sticker is on, I won't be struck by the hand of bureaucracy. Anyway, I went today to get it "inspected" and after the "thorough" inspection, the owner decides to charge me almost twice as much as is mandated by the city and what I always paid previously, but after a brief argument pays me back the difference as the recipe clearly states the fee which I always paid. To sum it up, I will never visit that place again and I would advise others to beware as well. The place conducts fraudulent inspections, the owner is dishonest, disrespectful and lacks any form of integrity. I wouldn't trust them with anything. read more

$$$$$ they just lift up my car and told me they can't fix it and ask me 100$ for 10 sec labor. Don't go there.

Car issues can be really frustrating but they helped me last week and really had my best interest in mind. Great staff!

Avoid this place if possible. The office personnel are rude and uninviting. I was greeted with attitude and heard / experienced nothing else while i waited for my inspection. The woman who was answering phones in the office (where the waiting room is) swore at customers and called someone a retard while i was there. There are several shops in this area and you don't have to come here, be treated like $h%t and likely get ripped off. read more
