Compared to a lot of the pubs I frequent, this one is quite large and open, but it is also a brewery. When you walk in, there are some couches against the wall, but the centre is just open, no tables, no chairs, just a lot of floor space. There is also a second floor that overlooks the floor space... and the bar. I wanted to try a couple of their brews, so I had a half pint of the Bishop's Farewell... mostly because of the fantastic name. Didn't enjoy it. On my second go, had a half pint of the Citra, still a lighter beer, but had a slight finish of citrus which was refreshing and helped curb the bitterness. Eventually there was some music in the background, but overall it was a nice place to get a drink.

This British thing of ordering the food at the bar even though you are seated somewhere is different but my friends did end up ordering food here and they enjoyed it while I put my calories down the old fashion way. I tend not to think of this place as a pub but a casual eatery that serves lots of local beers, that would help me put this place into perspective with its wide open areas and modern layout, decor and furniture. The food selection didn't seem to be from a pub either, asian food. Hmmm, not understanding this from a beer perspective here but whatever keeps the populace coming back. Most of the beers here were pretty good, I had quite a few that night so I can't even remember really which ones I had so come and grab a pint or two or many.

Table booked for early dinner pre theatre (5.15) Saturday night. Lovely pub but just didnt deliver…read more There were veey few diners at that time as you would expect but waited 10 minutes for drinks to arrive and was almost 6pm when first course arrived. I had pork which was lovely but the dauphonoise potato and 2 springs of charred but raw brocolli were just not enough. Were then informed no fruit crumble and when asked to change custard for cream said had a problem with whipped cream but may have some pouring cream. Was very busy when we left but was not impressed as not cheap. Very disappointing meal.

Called to book a table and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Arrived way too early with some time to kill but not a problem for the bar man who was keen to ensure that the glass of red house we ordered was what we wanted. The bar area had a very nice ambiance with some really comfy chairs that allowed us to while away our early arrival. With the wine going down nicely we ordered the Mediterranean bread to nibble on and it was delicious. Things were looking up for our first visit to this hostilely. Table for 4 was very pleasant and despite the large group with children nearby we were certainly not disturbed. Orders taken by the very jovial and helpful bar manager who interacted with the party with good humor and promptness. Then .... The beer breaded mushrooms were satisfactory and the garlic OK. It will be fine .... The main course arrived just before it got a bit silly and were all a little lackluster to be perfectly honest. Meals were just warm enough to ensure that nothing was said. Whilst the meals were presented well the taste just about lived up to expectations of the diners. Dessert, not this time thank you and after paying the bill little more than a side ways glance of a good bye. You know when you get that deflated moment when something does not quite live up to your expectations. We all felt it. I will visit again just in case this was a blimp in what was clearly a busy day for the staff but as a customer that was really not my problem. On leaving we did spot the giant chocolate eclair ......

Fries came after requesting them and looked like they had sat on the side for the last 4 hours or someone had sweeped them up off the floor, never did get cheese for my steak and cheese baguette. Girlfriend had ordered lasagne which was bought out 15 minutes after my not so complete baguette, needless to say it was cold in places and completely unedible. I don't know if the chefs were on strike the day we visited but we won't be doing so again. Appallng is an understatement.

It has two car parks, outside tables, bar, pool table largely a restaurant. There used to be a small play area outside for the children and once upon a time there was even a wacky warehouse upstairs but unfortunately after the many overhauls and changes of hands there are no play areas remaining yet it remains family friendly with an extensive kids menu. The food is nothing special and it seems to be under staffed as they struggle to meet the two for one offer demand. The usual menu comprising of steaks, chicken a few vegetarian options and some lighter meals. Its one of those take your table number up to the till and pay before you eat type places. Its cheap and cheerful and they dont mind the kids. The foods nothing to write home about but its a night off from cooking!
