I grew up w/i easy walking distance from this park. My family of 6 now rents my childhood home from my mother. I've had the opportunity to watch this park change and be improved for approximately 40 years! When I was a kid, it was very bare bones (only 1 bench that was located on the other side of park, far away from play area) and the drinking fountain was always disgusting or broken! The play area consisted of a couple swings and a very simple, metal jungle gym. Over several years, they have done many restorations. I had the opportunity to spend some quiet time there a couple weeks ago. It was around 2 pm on a Wed, so it was deserted! There are benches galore (near the play equipment and further away, for privacy). There are a few tables scattered around, instead of the ONE that used to be on the other side of the park. The play equipment is phenomenal; it's one of those large, colorful, durable plastic(?) types! The yucky sand (that you'd occasionally find cat poop in!) has been replaced by that black, rubbery, smooshie material. Much cleaner and safer! It has a huge sports area for soccer games, baseball games, etc! It is aesthetically SO much more pleasing than it was! Great place for a picnic on the grass. There's tons of it! The only thing missing: a bathroom! If you have little ones, try to plan w/ this in mind (haha). In general, this park has been restored! It isn't like Flo Jo park w/ TONS of things to do, keeping your kids busy for hours. But, it's great for an hour to get the kids some exercise while you relax on a bench nearby (and read a book)! read more
