    To the fields

Park is getting pretty run down as nothing here has changed since they built it a good wile back. Toy Area is seeing its age but on a positive note the fields above the park are nice and a great place for your sports activities! Overall not much else here hopefully the park gets a little bit of love from the city soon to return it to the awesome establishment it once was!

Mid-year, fellow yelp*er & friend, Grace L, mentioned seeing some whack job screaming and yelling @ park visitors... I swear it wasn't me! It's unfortunate that people cannot feel safe in a place that's supposed to be "family friendly," like a park; more surprising in this area of Orange County where a lot of mom's bring their kids... 'Single mom's too! Why do you think I'm always going to parks?! To walk my dog?! (Scoffs) Hey, not all whack jobs scream crazy. I'm joking!... 'Some of us stand silently behind trees and in the bushes. However, in all seriousness - NO MATTER where you are, be vigilant about your surroundings. Scan the area, 360 degrees, paying particular attention to people "just hanging out." Remember to look up every couple minutes to reassess the area; do not get preoccupied with your phone, kids, or anything that might distract you for long periods of time. It's not paranoid, it's just being safe especially if you have children with you. A big mahalo to Grace L for the heads up and a million bonus points for the added photo! (As the ol' saying goes, "Better safe, than never.") I like the park, relatively easy to get to and the few times that we've been here; never crowded. It's a great place to take the HAPA for a walk on those slightly than warmer SoCal, summer days; there's a fair amount of shade. If that's the park's biggest problems less drug dealers, homeless people, and used needles strewn about then it's doing alright. I've been some crappy @ss parks, this is NOT that. Now, if there are nut jobs swinging from the jungle gym like "King Louie," that's a different story all together. The park is very secluded and away from the main road with lots of trees/bushes creating numerous blind spots; be safe everybody. Note: The time that HAPA & I were there, the second water fountain; located @ the rear of the park was not working. Aliso Viejo Community Park - The chips should cover the plate towards the bottom of the green spinner. That's how low the wood chips are.

This review is specifically for the toddler playground…read more I have been to another playground designed by the same manufacturer as this one and it's one of our favorites. I was excited to go to this park for a change of scenery but was severely disappointed immediately upon arrival. The equipment is so high off the ground that is impossible for small children to get on by themselves. There are sharp corners, bolts and plates exposed at the bottom of the equipment because so much of the wood chips are missing. The huge drops make it an extremely unsafe playground for toddlers. Obviously kids should be supervised at all times but at this age they should have a little independence to climb things on their own; you should not have to lift them onto every piece of equipment and stand there with arms open the whole time to ensure they don't fall from a large drop. There is one ramp and the rest of the playground is surrounded by a cement path which is a huge step for a toddler to try to take on their own. In theory this is a great park. The equipment is nice and it's enclosed (although the gate latch is broken off and rusted) but they need to add about 8+ inches of wood chips to make it reasonably accessible for the 2-5 age group. I spoke to another mom who said that she has been taking her child to this park for about a year and it has always been this way. I have a hard time believing I am the only one who has raised this concern, yet it appears that nothing has been done about it.

Aliso Viejo Community Park - There's no way a 2 yr old (or even a 5 year old) can climb this & there are sharp corners exposed underneath that should be covered.

Love strolling through Canyon View Park but only on weekdays…read more Parking here is nonexistent. You have to parallel park in specific areas and specific side of the street only. It's in the middle of a residential neighborhood and it will be hard to park during the weekends. It's an otherwise peaceful area to walk around in unless you have the unfortunate encounters with unleashed dogs, shrieking children due to the two playgrounds, or inconsiderate people talking extremely loudly on their smartphones. Sometimes you will encounter all 3 and by then, the walk with my dogs are ruined. My one dog is extremely shy and timid so I frequently have to carry her back to the car with another pulling beagle in tow. No fun at all. The poop bag stations are inconsistently filled and the park has dog droppings hidden in any areas of the grass or sidewalk. So if your dogs tend to eat stuff off the ground, WATCH OUT! Mine tried to roll in it and I so didn't appreciate it. The park also leads to several different trails that allows dogs for some of the paths. It will be an extremely steep hill to climb up and down if you access it from the Canyon View Park side. Not for the faint of heart and be aware it has little to no shade. Bring water, and don't attempt to climb if you have sandals on. It will get your feet dusty and good pair of NB or Hokas would really help. In all, I think it's a decent park to go to, but not my first choice due to noise, dog droppings, and ease of access. Avoid on weekends unless you like crowds.
