I ordered cookies with Apricot in the middle and then ones with Raspberry. My friend ordered Chocolate Rugelach that she said was just ok, she likes the Rugelach that is made at Joseph's Market in Boca much better. Then we purchased three loafs of Chocolate Bahka for a party we were going to that was made by another bakery and sold there. The Bahka tasted just ok, we wouldn't get that again. This was our first time here. We went on a Saturday afternoon. Will never go back. Just as many other reviewers have already stated: rude! There was a young, friendly girl in the front but she was helping someone else. Unfortunately, we were assisted by the meanest lady ever. I get that you are mineable and hate your job but then leave! To the owner, we will never return because of her rudeness. She threw the pastries in the bag and placed them directly into the paper tissue, so when went to eat them, they were stuck to the paper. Delicious cakes, pies and tarts! I stopped by a week ago and picked up a fruit tart and a Dark Chocolate Raspberry Mouse cake and they were both great! I took it for a family birthday dinner and everyone loved both. The cake was not too sweet and perfectly moist with a little bit of chocolate mousse inside and the fruit tart had delicious sweet fruits with a yummy pudding like center. Both were awesome! Once you get there, they use a ticket number system so grab a number right when you walk in. I will definitely returning for the cakes and tarts but can't wait to try their bread rolls!! read more

Yes, the cakes are good (not all of them, many of them), but as a few other reviews point out, the service here is terrible. First - they never, ever answer the phone to take an order so you acutally have to go into the store to order. That's bad enough, but when you go into the store, it gets worse. In-store, you almost always have to wait for help. No surprise considering how popular the place is. Then you get someone helping you who either has no idea what they're doing, or someone who clearly hates their job and takes it out on customers, or if you're really lucky - you get good service. They're supposedly famous for their key lime pie ... nah. The custard part has no sourness which makes it very sweet with very little key lime flavor. The crust is ok but too thin. It's loaded with too much whipped cream. So I was very disappointed with what they're famous for! read more

I think they're the best bakery in Delray. Old fashioned real bakery - great cakes, cookies, breads & now they even have donuts! They're also known for their pies. I love their rugalach and their breads are excellent. The ciabatta is chewy and fresh and the Italian bread is nice & crusty on the outside & airy, light & flavorful on the inside. They have an amazing mouth watering raisin walnut bread that I cant buy anymore because I just want to take it home & eat the whole thing! Their babka cake can be a little dry, but their cookies are delicious & the many other cakes I've tried are moist & delicious - they even have small cakes that feed 2-3 people for only $4.99. I just now called the bakery to submit an order for pick up this Wednesday, May 12th, and the lady did not know and did not want to check if they can do a double layer 6" vanilla cake with buttercream so she told me she couldn't help me because they were busy and said to call back on Tuesday. Went for a st joseph day zeppole, should have kept going, weird white cream and taste inside of it instead of cooked yellow custard And bought a chocolate rectangle layer cake, each of the numerous layers were dry like it was frozen,I am sure of that,, and thick ,if you want to call it ,chocolate ganache in between,,never ever tasted something so weird ,,like an alcohol fake after taste,no chocolate flavor at all ,,gross and disgusting,,,the employees very nice at the counters,, working to hard and in the back ,, get some real pastry chefs in the back from what I saw the people in the back do not look like they know how to boil an egg never mind make proper first Class pastries, not their fault , owners are ghosts there, faking thier way through it, it's one of the only shows it town ,what a shame read more

This bakery was much smaller than I thought, but definitely way bigger and offers more selections than The Upper Crust in Lantana. I picked up an "Old Fashioned" apple pie for my husband's Valentine's gift and it was good, but nothing special to write home. I am still looking for THE apple pie that doesn't have weird doughy bottom crust (Grandma's) and the waxy upper crust (The Upper Crust). I was also bummed out that they didn't even have any regular cookies like Chocolate Chip, Sugar... etc... although they do have a lot of "Italian" sweets that are commonly found in NYC, NJ, LI... etc. read more

This is a great extension of the Boy's and Girl's Markets. Cakes that are so reasonably priced and gorgeous. They also have pastries, tarts, fresh breads, cookies, and jams. I came at an off time (Sunday 4pm) to buy a birthday cake. I chose the Kahlua cake ($15) and had them write happy birthday on it. I told them the cake was for adults only (the woman behind the counter warned me of the small alcohol content in the cake), and that it was for a female friend of mine. They ended up writing Happy Birthday to her in pink frosting. I am not trying to be picky, and I get it.. she is a female. But on this gorgeous cake the baby pink color they chose to write on it would have been my last choice. So a note to others: specify the color if you want it written on. The cake was very good! Just a bit dry, so that is why I am knocking down a star. I would definitely go back and try the other cake options available (their tiramisu cake looked legit). Grandma's Bakery uses Splenda to all their sugar free. Please do not get sugar free for me any more. I rather enjoy without any artificial sweeteners. "Splenda isn't bad for you, but it can cause some negative health effects like an increase in sugar cravings which may lead to weight gain. This place is awful and my first (and last) time I'll be here. You're better off buying a cake at BJ's or Publix because that's probably where this bakery purchases their items. The service was okay, but none of the cakes, bread, or other bakery items are actually made in store as advertised. I saw the employees remove the cheesecakes from The Cheesecake Factory boxes (the same ones you'll see in BJ's), remove the paper slivers dividing the slices, and continue to decorate the cake with whip cream to make it seem like it was made there. I wouldn't be surprised if the cakes, cookies, and other bakery sweets were store bought and passed off as "fresh made". The chocolate cake we bought was very bland and dry. When we asked what cakes they recommended, we were told with an attitude "They're all good" and the employees did not offer much help. A real gem offering A variety of breads from rye, pumpernickel, Italian etc. The pastry section is heaven but I'm really partial to their bread pudding which is rich but not overly sweet..perfect. There are so many treats diabetics avoid this place, but everyone else prepare to treated. The parking can be tricky and full. Don't forget to grab a ticket when you enter. Every time we visit family in South Florida we discover new places. We were celebrating a birthday and wanted to pick up a cake. We got a chocolate mousse layer cake and it was delicious. The bakery is very accommodating, they were helpful over the phone, their store hours are great, and prices are very reasonable. Well the people that work here are GREAT, however the pies and carrot cake were mediocre. The carrot cake especially was a let down, too much frosting and not enough cake. Get a cannoli while you're pondering. Left side is breads, cookies, pastries. Register. You will pay here. Right side is cakes. Back is more cakes. Rainbow cookies. Pies. Cannoli. The apple crumb cake was amazing. Brown crusty sugar top with a moist yellow cake and apples. A lovely breakfast treat. There's this bread to the left coming in the door. Cinnamon raisin walnut. It's sliced thin and double toasted with butter and sugar and is glorified crack. It's crunchy chewy heaven. Tiramisu. Very good. They also have an almond topping but I'm kind of a purist. Cannoli was delish. Just the cream in the shell and chocolate non pareils. Simple and fresh. I don't buy prefilled cannoli. It's just wrong. I hear the pizza next door is excellent. Next time maybe. Very disappointed. We ordered a 7 layer chocolate cake ..the all chocolate one. The girl waiting on me said they were made daily. There was no way thus cake was made that day. We stopped in after eating such good pizza next door. I was bummed by the Napoleon I got- while huge, it wasn't fresh, since the layers were soggy and the cream was a little too sweet to me. My grandma liked her cheese danish. All the desserts looked beautiful, and the almond horn, goat cheese and spinach tarts looked especially delicious! Used to love this place, but the quality of products has gone down, and the service waaaaay down. Today it topped it off. We bought a chocolate vanilla cake which was totally dry, probably old. Made the Publix cakes seem delicious! Ridiculous. My wife witnessed in the store how they screwed up a girl who came to pick up her b-day cake ordered a week prior. They forgot to make it! She left shouting and slamming the door. Understandable. That's total lack of respect for the customers. Staff became rude and arrogant. We'll not return anytime soon. We'll look for another bakery. Not sure what's up with the rave reviews. I walked in and discovered a perfectly ordinary looking bakery, like, not even above average. I've seen plenty of more creative looking pastries at my local supermarket. We bought the key lime pie, and I thought it lacked tartness and sweetness. Key lime pie should positively *smack* of flavor. The biscotti had good flavor, but weren't hard and crisp, as biscotti should be. Disappointing. read more

I was extremely disappointed in both the service and the bakery items from here. There is a limit of four people at a time which is understandable because of Covid-19 but there was no one waiting to get it nor was there more than three customers in at the time we were there. So there was no reason behind the way the employee treated us or our items. The employee that helped us was not friendly at all. She was short with her answers and was just wanting to get to the transaction over with as soon as possible. We ordered cannolis and she went to fill them. When she returned she asked, anything else? We got biscottis for $11 a lb. Then she rings us up just says the total and that's it. Hands us back our card and two bags then proceeds to move her hand in a way for us to move to the side so she can talk to the customer behind us. Again it was not crowded at the time and there was another employee on the left side counter that was able to help. When we got home we remove the cannoli box from the bag and it was placed in there upside down. She was in such a rush that it was carelessly given to us already damaged. The biscotti was also a fail because it had the moist texture of a soft baked cookie nothing that represented what you look forward to when having biscotti. read more
