I was always curious to try Cake Stand Desserts, a bakery on 441 in Boca Greens Plaza but I never seemed to get there at the right time. I finally had a day off from work, the stars aligned, and I was in the area when they were open. The bakery's friendly owner, Jason, does double duty running the register and baking all the treats. He sells croissants both sweet and savory, cinnamon rolls, cakes, coffee cakes, tarts, pies, cookies, and cupcakes. Everything is made in house with quality ingredients. He also sells espresso and specialty coffee drinks. There is a counter with some stools if you want to eat in and there is a small table outside. Based on Holly S.'s visit and recommendations I asked for a chocolate chip cookie and a slice of coffee cake. While Jason was packaging my treats I couldn't help but admire an individual carrot cake and a chocolate cupcake topped with candy bar pieces. I took my baked goods with me to be enjoyed later. When I got around to trying the cookie it was loaded with chocolate and was the perfect amount of chewiness. The large slice of coffee cake had a tender crumb and was swirled with cinnamon sugar goodness. The cake slice and cookie was only $7 which seems like a bargain compared to what some bakeries I have been to have charged. Not much to add, but here's the important stuff: 1) unlike most places, their product looks good AND actually taste good, maybe could be a tad bit more moist for my liking, but they are not putting out dry, stale but pretty garbage, as many places do; 2) they are overpriced, even for Boca, e.g., $4 for a muffin that took 3 bites... that's $1.33 per bite, so it should come with a car wash or somethin'; 3) no beer read more

This place is the reason why all prices are soaring in Boca. Took a cappuccino 6.5$ and some snack 8$ which was already stale. Coffee was watery. Rip off and no value. You go to Town center mall , specialty coffee you can get it for 4$ and still tastes heavenly. read more

From the minute that I called them to ask them to make a special cake for my father's 90th birthday they were responsive and kind. They could not do enough to make me happy. The Baker went out of his way to make my father a seven layer cake, which was beyond delicious. it was a very hard cake to find and he made a special order. Cake Stand is a local gem, and I'm so glad they opened up shop near where I live! My wife loves their Strawberry Chantilly cake with fluffy, white frosting. We had one made for a baby shower and the guests raved on and on about it. I had COVID and it was my wife's birthday--you can guess what cake I had ordered for her big day. Jason the owner and his team helped me (along with Grubhub) to even have the cake delivered to our door and still surprise my wife despite my isolation! Tips: The good stuff often sells out earlier in the day, so try to go early. My favorite is the almond and chocolate croissant--I should remember to get more than one next time! I ordered a specific customized carrot cake birthday cake with image transfers on it and when I arrived it to pick it up it didn't look the way I expected it to. The owner listened to my concerns and changed some details on the cake while I waited. His assistant was gracious and offered me a coffee as well. When the cake came out again it was much more like how I envisioned it and I appreciated how they took care to alter it. The carrot cake was moist and flavorful and the frosting not too sweet. Updated review: Jason is still my go to for anything sweet. My daughter turned me on to his chocolate croissants... wow! They are fresh every morning and served warm, these are amazing!! Jason also makes savory croissants with three cheese, ham and Swiss and my favorite, jalapeño and sausage. These have a kick! We were excited to try this place since they are small bakery and bake fresh pastries every day. The girl working behind the counter was friendly and when we asked if everything was made fresh, she said that the items outside of the fridge were made that day and the items in the fridge were made max 3 days ago since they only keep pastries for 3 days. We tried items in the fridge only although the cupcakes were both out and in the fridge so they may have been made that day as well. Everything tasted fresh but nothing stood out as overly flavorful. The black and white cake was moist but the frosting was not flavorful or sweet enough. The chocolate cupcake was moist but the frosting was also not that flavorful. The carrot cake was the same way. The cake part was good but the frosting didn't have enough oomph to it. Would like to go back and try some of the pastries out on the counter like the cinnamon roll and danish/apple crumb cake/banana bread/key lime pie type of desserts. A bit more focus on the frosting and this place would be really good. read more

I'm in this plaza pretty regularly as I used to pick up my daughter from puffin school, which closed, and also the Pinch a Penny pool store. I was happy to see that bakery opened so I could grab sweet treats here in there when I was in the plaza but I am absolutely blown away by the quality and kindness of the owner as well. The macaroons are absolutely incredible, made fresh every day and very inexpensive! You're greeted by either the owner himself or a very friendly employee every time you walk in, you get a New Yorkish vibe from the place with the floor and the tiles on the wall. There is a beautiful display case with amazing desserts inside. I special ordered a gluten and dairy free chocolate cake for my wife on a whim Friday afternoon and it was ready Saturday morning, now that is quick. I picked it up this morning, brought it home, threw it in the fridge and we had a slice after lunch. It was AMAZING, usually bakeries don't get it right with gluten-free or dairy free or both but these folks got it perfectly!! Incredibly moist, nice and dense, the way the cake should be. I would recommend these folks to anybody looking for a single macaroon a cookie all the way up to a full blown party or wedding. They have the baking know how and the equipment to get anything done! I ordered a few desserts to try out as I really didn't know which ones to even pick. Here is what I ordered and what I rate them: Oreo cheesecake - very bland and not that sweet, 2/5 Chocolate Mousse - very good, 5/5 Key Lime - good, 4/5 Apple cake turnover - not good, hard, 1/5 Coffee cake - really good, my favorite, 5/5 I'd like to order a cake from them eventually to try as well. I buy my pool supplies at the pinch a penny in the shopping center about a mile north of glades road on 441. My wife went with me to the Pool store one day and we noticed a Cake shop two doors down.....we walked in and ordered two different slices of cake...Coconut and something else. Can't remember. Both were absolutely delicious. Since then, I've ordered three or four different whole cakes. Most cakes I've bought are sweet and the icing is way..too sweet. These aren't. The decorations are top shelf. Did you ever have a coconut cake where the strands of coconut are caught in your teeth? Doesn't happen. The chocolate mousse is lights out. There's many other's I haven't tried. These cakes aren't cheap....but if you want to impress your guests or family, this is the place to go. Way to go Jason. read more

Picked up a strawberry shortcake 10" inch cake to celebrate a dear friend's engagement. Not only was this one of the prettiest cakes we had ever seen, it was by far one of the best deserts many of us had ever eaten. The best tarts and little cakes ever! The tarts have a flaky buttery crispy crust and the fillings are decadent and not too sweet. The fruit tart is my favorite. It has fresh fruit and they even insert alittle custard in the center of the raspberries. That's amazing attention to details. The chocolate mousse cake is heavenly and again not too sweet but so smooth. I highly recommend. This place is so good. I also am a big supporter of mom and pop places and local businesses.
