It was time to meet in real life because I would be in her town before crossing the Canadian border with my niece! Perfect timing! The fantastic suggestion to meet at L&L Bakery was Laura's. She's so smart and knowledgeable! L&L Bakery is a quaint, cute, clean, bright place with appropriate decor, efficient, polite service, and delicious, beautiful food! We had a matcha latte and a generous slice of quiche. It was the perfect breakfast before the drive to Vancouver! Thank you, Laura, for a wonderful experience! My niece and I are so happy to meet you! Thanks also for the cookie and stickers! You're so generous, fun, and thoughtful!

And, of course, it was so delicious. The lemon curd was a perfect balance to the rest of the cake. If they were on The Great British Baking Challenge, they would absolutely WIN! I tried both of the hot chocolate drinks to make the trip worth while. There was the Tiki Torched Brûlée Bliss that has an brûlée donut and sugar coated fruit skewers. And there was the That Flan-tastic Purple Yam that has a tune (purple yam) flavour theme and stacked with lostof Filipino desserts like flan, pandesal, and ube cup cake. Both drinks were on the sweeter side and perfect for those who have an extra sweet tooth!

One…read moreof the owners came to greet and speak with us along with a server pretty much right after we sat down. They took the time to confirm dietary restrictions and explain their menu. We were pleasantly surprised that they offer guests access to their full drink menu including their specials. Ube matcha was good, but had a hint of cinnamon which we could have gone without. The matcha mango was also good. The blackberry lavender matcha was too floral for our liking. However, eventually you get used to it and then it becomes more enjoyable. The pandesals were super fresh and we loved both the ube and strawberry butters that came with it. I wish that they came a bit warmer, so that the butters could have melted a touch. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 sandwiches. I especially loved the arugula on the mozerella sandwich. The blackberry brie sandwich could have used a touch more brie, but was still delicious. The cheesecakes were good, but a bit too sweet. The strawberry was my favorite. I enjoyed tasting multiple flavors. Their red velvet cupcake was extremely moist. The pistachio malasada was cute and flavorful. The filling to pastry ratio was good. I think that the experience could have been better balanced if there were a few more savory items. One thing that we noticed was that all of the pastries including the malasada were cold. I can understand that there are some food safe requirements that need to be met in how desserts are stored. However, letting them sit out for even 20-30 minutes before consumption would have been better.

I came to visit yesterday as I was around the area looking for a snack but ended up walking away…read morewith two, the strawberry shortcake muffin and double chocolate cookie, since they looked really good. I met the owner as well and she was very nice, letting me know that they had taken over management only a couple months ago. Their custom cake looks really epic too! However, I didn't like the two items at all, they were both overly sweet. The muffin was super oily, where it seep through the wrapper and bag, which is shocking because the muffin was actually dry and crumbly...not sure how that works. The muffin also lacked any filling, so it was dry and plain, other than the topping, which was way too sweet. The cookie wasn't that bad, I wished that they used dark chocolate because it was really sweet, and a bit hard. The best cookies for me are the ones that are crispy on the outside but soft in the inside, which this one is hard throughout. I personally don't like sweet things so if you have a sweet tooth, definitely check it out - but I was surprised about the muffin as I never seen such an oily muffin before but that's also dry.

The bars come as milk or dark chocolate with dried fruits and nuts pressed into them or just nuts or biscuit pearls or are sprinkled with sea salt. As someone who cannot digest dairy, it was wonderful to see that the dark chocolate bars are vegan and contain no dairy. We also had a chance to chat with the friendly owner and it was a great experience. A few weeks ago we visited Squamish again and were happy to see that the chocolate bars still look amazing. We bought a bunch of bars and now have a decent stash to last for a while and to give as gifts. Though it's hard to moderate when the bars taste so good. Thank you, Xoco Chocolate!
