On top of that, I already have to eat gluten-free and dairy-free, so trying to figure out what was safe suddenly felt impossible. Pinky was absolutely incredible. She took the time to walk through products with me, reassure me, and answer my questions without ever making me feel rushed. She even gave me a hug when I was feeling overwhelmed, which meant more than she probably knows. She took down my information and let me know her boss would reach out with more information about products that were safe for me, which helped ease so much of my anxiety. Tiano's isn't just a health food store--it's a genuine safe space for people with dietary restrictions, allergies, and medical conditions. You can tell they truly care about their customers and the community they serve. Thank you to Pinky and everyone at Tiano's Organics for your kindness, compassion, and exceptional customer service. I really think they should consider expanding their online presence, as more people would likely visit if they could see what's available. That said, I gave them a call and they confirmed they had what I needed, albeit a different brand than I usually take. After doing some research, the brand seemed reliable and is third-party tested, so I decided to pick it up. Prices were cheaper than Amazon and Healthy Planet for the product I wanted, and more cost-effective than my usual brand. However, prices can be higher on other items, and they don't price match, so it's worth doing some research. They also have a loyalty or membership program to collect points. I was in a rush, so I didn't get to sign up or explore the store fully, but they carry a wide range of products. I came to buy some local honey which I found at a reasonable price. Everyone that came into the store seemed like they were regulars around the area. It's kind of funny to me that I had a couple of job interviews in the area and then decided to grab lunch at a supermarket that doesn't exactly scream discounts. I need a job to support my love for organic avocados and croissants! Before I got my current job, I was looking for work. I had interviews that spanned a couple of months. I drove down to Yorkville both times and parked in a lot. I went to each interview. Afterwards, I was hungry and hit this Whole Foods. The salad bar had my name all over it. There was also tiramisu and I got a box for my rectangular slab. I then went to pay for everything. For some reason, I didn't dine there. I ate in my car instead, which has been my usual thing for years. I remember how happy I was that the interview was over and I could indulge in fresh mixed greens, some salad dressing that had the best citrusy flavours, crispy cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes, and sweet corn kernels. I also remember stuffing by face with the best tiramisu. The mascarpone was heavenly with the lady fingers, cocoa, and more. I was so happy. I should have bought an entire tray of it just for me. I returned after my second interview and had an egg salad sandwich. Simple. Yummy. Perfect. The bread was seedy. It was so good. It hit the spot. I haven't been back here since I landed my current job. It may be a good thing. I still love Whole Foods. Markham has been graced with its own and I frequent it often. The products are not intuitively arranged together and it as difficult to find certain things. However, the store was clean and as with most Whole Foods locations, there was a lot to choose from. I forgot how much I used to enjoy shopping at WF. Check out was easy and the cashier was friendly enough. I went there twice during my visit to Toronto because I fell in love with DJ&A dried mushroom snacks.
