I was instantly attracted to this boulangerie - the bread displayed in stark contrast to the jet-black walls. A wide variety of loaves, baguettes and rolls were on offer - I particularly liked their olive sourdough. They were quite expensive though - $1.80 for a roll, $6.50 for a loaf and $5 for a long baguette.
As well as bread, Grain has a tempting display of muffins, cookies and pastries, and some good combination deals, such as coffee and a roll for $5. It's also nice to see a coffee shop that takes their tea seriously too - a choice of China Green, Chamomile, Earl Grey, Rooibos, Punjabi Chai, Fresh Mint and English Breakfast would cater for all tastes. I chose a blueberry muffin, which was nice, but unremarkable. I think Sydney has left me spoilt - such a high quality of food, especially pastries, cakes and bread, means that anything that isn't totally perfect seems disappointing.
Nevertheless, for a quick coffee break, or a rustic loaf of bread, Grain Boulangerie is very nice. I wouldn't come out of my way to get here though. read more
