I love that they remain largely unchanged throughout my lifetime, unlike almost everything else. I love that you can actually find knowledgeable people willing to answer questions. Sometimes I'll go so far as to poke my head in when I dont need anything. In this case, a piece of my music equipment had broken and I needed a very specific fastener. Something that is standard but not common, Home Depot wouldnt have it, but a good hardware store would. They took the time to go through all their fastener drawers with me, and when they couldnt find the part, pulled one off of an item on their shelves and gave it to me. Now that's a above and beyond level of service. Only caveat-- there is only metered street parking.

I stopped in to pick up a few items and, as usual, left with a few more than I had planned. They had a great selection of cakes in the bakery, so I couldn't resist bringing one home. I was also looking for pea pods in the produce department but couldn't find them. When I asked an employee for help, they didn't just point me in the right direction. They personally walked me to the exact spot. That's the kind of customer service that's becoming harder and harder to find. I'll definitely be back.

This location has always been clean with a great selection of products, from produce, meat and bakery to home goods and clothes! It'll be your one stop shop for everything. The customer service desk has always been very helpful too!

As a fairly petite woman, I'm no stranger to the weird nonsense one can endure when entering a traditionally male-dominated space like a hardware store or bike shop. I've had unsolicited "help" to carry a 20 lb bag of potting soil to my car. I've given a detailed description of what I'm looking for to a guy whose eyes glazed over and proceeded to guide me to something that wasn't remotely like what I needed. I've gone into stores with male partners who literally said "this is her project" and they still kept talking to him This is not the case with Bliffert. They're actually the only hardware store I've ever been to that had a woman on staff who wasn't exclusively a cashier. I was recently in with my husband, and they quickly assessed that I was the DIYer of the household and he was mostly there to sign off on paint colors. I've walked in with requests ranging from the mundane, like "I'm looking for drywall screws" to "I want to build a prop chainsaw for Halloween that is realistic enough to look cool but not so realistic that they won't let me into the bar." I've been met with enthusiastic help for all requests. And if I say "I'm just comparing options," they let me browse in peace. They cut keys like it's an art. They offer me a beer while I'm considering paint colors. They allow dogs. I can admit that some newer employees are not quite as great as the older staff. I walked in one day looking for something and the younger man at the counter had no clue where it might be or even really what I was looking for. I will say that he was interested in where I eventually found it, so at least he was trying. I've seen many of the employees since I my first visit to Bliffert in like 2013, so it's not fair to compare the new guy to the veterans who have an encyclopedic knowledge of thousands of items after years of experience.

The lower prices on many items make more than up for it. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I have not had any problems. that (One reviewer mentioned that Costco does not always have something in stock that the person likes/wants. And yes. I get hooked on some of their stuff as well. But from what I understand, Costco only keeps stocking/buying items that they can sell at their prices, and that are bought by enough people. So what is available has always somewhat changed/rotated. I still miss the Mori-Nu tofu.
