We dropped the truck there overnight. I dropped my daughter off to wait with truck in about 6:50am next day. Some guy came out and said that you are parked too close. We were parked at the edge of the concrete slab but we weren't at the cones. He told her she had to go to end of line behind 9 cars. read more

Do not go here!! Went to get a trailer inspected but since it was cold he refused. The guy did not want to look for 5 minutes at a trailer because it was cold. He also was not very nice about it just said "I'm not doing it because it's cold I'm not doing it" and walked off with not saying come back later nothing just rude and walked away read more

I went there for a headlight issue for my Volvo, they found the problem easily, I might add. Then they fixed it. As compared to other auto shops they are very good with great knowledge and really fix a problem not cover up and send you down the road with a large bill only to have the problem re-occur. I went to this company for the first time recently and they helped me with a headlight problem that no one else in the area would touch. I would have given them five stars for that but for the fact that when I got my car I found grease all over the driver side carpet. I had to take my car and have the carpet shampooed. I am still very grateful that they were able to help with my mechanical issue but it would have been nice if they had been a little more cautious about tracking grease on my carpet. read more

Took our 2003 E350 church van to Graftex for a charging system problem-one that had been giving us fits for months. Phil waited on us and did a quick diagnosis that indicated the alternator was not working. He checked the cost for a replacement and said it would cost from $350 to $450 installed. That sounded about right so we said go ahead. We also wanted a state inspection done as well. Phil said they would probably get it completed that day. We gave our contact info and left, expecting a call later in the day. About an hour later, I received a call from Phil. He said I have some good news and bad news. I said what is the good news? He said the alternator was okay. I asked what was the bad news? He said whoever installed the alternator didn't connect the plugs! Phil said the inspection was complete and the van was ready - total cost was $45! Wow! What a pleasant surprise!! Quick, dependable and honest service!! Hard to beat combination! I came in for state inspection. The service was fine, but waiting was extremely uncomfortable. The place was established 40 years ago. I think the chairs have been around longer!! You'd think after 40 years of business they'd update their chairs. Why am I complaining about chairs? I'm old and my back sucks, doubt I'm the only one!! Oh, and no one smiles around here. I've heard lots of good things about this place so I decided to give them a try. The power steering on my wife's van went out and after having it checked out by a couple of other places, I took it to Graftex. Turned out the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. After speaking with graftex, they were pretty sure they could do it but wanted to take a look before telling me they could definitely do the work and if so, it wouldn't take more than a day. I let him know that we were taking a roadtrip on Thursday night and needed it done quickly. They said no problem. I dropped it off on Monday and he said he would let me know the next day if they could could it. I never received the call. I called on Wednesday afternoon and they still hadn't gotten to it! Even though they never told me that they could for sure do this work, they finally started working on it late Wednesday. Thursday morning rolled around and they were still working on it. When they finally finished it, they informed me that they had to charge extra labor because they spent more time working on it than they anticipated and extra for parts because they broke the sway bar and had to replace it. At that point I just needed my vehicle back because we were leaving in a couple of hours for a trip. Well after leaving graftex, we heard loud rattling when we hit bumps. We took it back and they said it was the wrong sway bar or fitting or whatever the excuse was. They didn't have time to fix it before we left for our trip. They assured us that we could drive it as is and that it would just be annoying sounds when you hit a bump and they would fix it when we returned. Fine. Side note: the roads in Illinois are horribly bumpy and I'll never complain about roads in Virginia again! When we returned and dropped off the van, I again hadn't received a call for two days. I called them asking for status and they asked what kind of work the van was there for! Ugh!!! I reminded them about the sway bar. They finished the work and we hadn't had problems until I tried to replace the brake pads on the van. Graftex WAY over torqued the lug nuts that I couldn't remove them. I took it to another shop and even they had problems getting them off. The lug nuts were so damaged, I had to buy more. I will NEVER go back to graftex again. read more

Cheap and fair, the staff all seemed to care about me and not just my money. They told me what was actually wrong with my car and fixed it for a fair price. The building is not lit up at night so it was hard to drop off my car after work, and the Key drop box was not in a very visible place. But it was all fine. The biggest complaint is how small it is. It has no sitting area so you are forced to drop off your car. All in all great fair price, love the people and will be going there again. read more

I bought a used Jeep Wrangler that sprung a coolant leak on the first night I had it. Graftex was recommended to me and I'm super thankful they were! Honest (clearly not out to gouge my wallet) mechanics immediately diagnosed the leak, fixed it and gave my Jeep a once-over to make sure it was good to go. I'll definitely be coming here from now on! Foolishly, I went to a service station closer to my home for my annual inspection. The mechanic there failed my inspection and told me I needed more than a $1,000 in repairs. Sensing a lie, I had the mechanic at Graftex do a re-inspection, and he found nothing wrong. I am a huge fan of Graftex and its honest, hard-working auto mechanics! read more

Absolute worst service I've ever experienced at a garage. Immediately upon walking into the office, an employee pointed me back out the door saying "somebody will be with you in a minute". After waiting in my car (with no line in front of me mind you) this same person walks out and says "where's your inspection sticker?" I explained that I was from out of state (from a state that did not require an inspection) to which he replied "are you sure you didn't just get rejected and pulled the sticker off". He said this after asking if I was in the military. Literally the most disrespectful staff I've ever encountered and as a veteran, can't understand the level of unprofessionalism displayed. Would highly recommend saving your money and looking elsewhere unless you want to be disrespected and made to feel like a criminal. read more

I've been fortunate to have had my inspections done here for years. They let me know if they see anything that needs to be watched before the next inspection... i.e. need new front tires, brake pads looking worn, etc. Never have pressured me into anything and always courteous. Because I needed some work done on my 15 year old car, this is the only place I would consider taking it... it's there now. read more

Older Inspector is unprofessional, lacks customer service & is full of himself. Took my car to get re-inspected for some basic parts that I replaced myself. Simple enough. He then proceeds to start the inspection, ignores the parts that needed re-inspection and sites me for something that isn't in the Virginia Vehicle Safety Inspection Guidelines (Also refused to provide evidence). So basically he lied about what was actually the law for whatever the circumstance. I then afterward took my vehicle elsewhere with no problem at all. Come to Graftex if your enjoy a good lie, like playing games & wasting your time. (No offense to the other workers, they seemed like reasonable people.) read more

But the staff was courteous and efficient once they got to me, and even put my new plates onto my car. They did not try to get any additional services from me, which I appreciate. Small, locally owned and operated repair shop and gas station. Absolutely the best! Doesn't look like much, but these guys know their stuff and are HONEST, a far cry from most others. Took my car in for an oil leak and state inspection. They found the leak and fixed it at no charge, taking the time to show me what was wrong. Nice to have some old fashioned honesty in an auto repair shop again. :) read more
