Best Ice cream I've ever had. This specific location is walking distance from my parents house but even if it wasn't, I would travel for it. The black raspberry chip is to die for but they also have such fun seasonal flavors it's hard to pick just one! Great outdoor patio & indoor seating options. In the St Matthews neighborhood for a taco and decided to walk over for a scoop of ice cream. Ordered a single scoop of black cherry chocolate chip and requested it in a sugar cone. I was given both but my scoop was turned upside down in a cup, and when I had a puzzled face I was told the new requirements were to put it in a cup. Odd - because I was also offered a purchase of a more expensive waffle cone? Y'all, it was the most pitiful single scoop I've ever had. Other places have bigger kids scoops. Our search was complete with Graeter's! They have amazing flavors and their seasonals are some of my favorite! My go-to is Buckeye Blitz. In August (I think) you HAVE to try the blueberry pie! From the pie bits to the amazing blueberries, I've never had anything better. During the summer sometime, they do a banana ice cream that is amazing! Location is not the biggest but they have several seats in side not much for outside seating though. They were very busy as expected on a hot summer day but the staff were very fast but taking the time to help people and were very friendly. The ice cream is good like always can't say I've ever had a bad flavor. Only thing I would warn you on is parking lot is smaller and can be full and seating can be full so when you go just go with the mind set that it might be busy and you may just have to wait a bit but it's worth waiting for. read more

There's a reason that Graeter's has been successful for over 145 years, their ice cream is phenomenal! What started as a small, family creamery in Cincinnati has grown into a franchised empire. I love that this delicious treat can be had at many locations here in Louisville. Graeter's utilizes the French Pot process which creates a dense product with little air. They use liquid chocolate in their signature, chip flavors (black raspberry choc chip is a favorite of Oprah). This causes chunks (more like glaciers) of chocolate to form in the ice cream. Heaven! The two flavors that have my heart are seasonal ones - strawberry chocolate chip and eggnog. The first is a summertime classic that blends succulent, ripe strawberries with that amazing chocolate. It's like a chocolate-dipped strawberry in a cone! Eggnog comes around in Nov/Dec and taste exactly like my beloved, holiday drink but in frozen form. Rich, creamy, and slightly spicy. The only thing missing is the bourbon. It turns me off when the chips are frozen and too hard. My soft teeth can't hang with that. That's typically why I stay away from chunks. Not a problem here. The ice cream itself wasn't very creamy. So all these years I have lived here and have never tried Graeter's. I'm not much of an ice cream girl. The flavors were amazing! Was so surprised to see the prepared to go pints, gallons and cakes. When we first came in we were the only customers. Then the place filled up with over 20 people. It's starting to get darker sooner so I was surprised to see so many people come in on a Thursday evening. I love the kids scoops and funny face they put on it. We were able to get my sons ice cream in a Yankees cup. He loved that! They also offer prepackaged candies and chocolates too! I was so unaware that they offer more than just ice cream. They sell 6 and 12 pint to go packs with dry ice for traveling. They also cater for over 50. They sell super cute greeting cards too! What a great little ice cream shop! We will be back! I love graters. Their black raspberry chocolate chip is my weakness especially after a long day at work. The staff at this one is my favorite. They are always so friendly. I went in and ordered an 1870 tower Togo. At first they were going to put it all in one container and then one of the sweet ladies behind the counter asked if I would mind having it deconstructed and how far I had to drive etc. so five minutes later I walked out with my deconstructed sundae. The price point was great. Everything tasted amazing. Even the brownie. The service was amazing and I cannot wait to go back for more ice cream. I look forward to the changes in flavors with each season, especially the peach in the summer and cinnamon in the winter. Nothing beats a freshly-baked waffle cone with a scoop of smooth ice cream on a hot summer's day, which means I have been heading here more than my fair share with the recent heat wave. I've always loved Graeter's but their COVID 19 precautions are not enough. Saw multiple 6+ year old kids with no mask. Also many people coming in with fake masks that were mesh as well as so many people with the mask below the nose. The customer service was amazing and the employees were very helpful. I just wish Graeter's had better rules on masks read more
