LOVE this old fashioned candy store!!! There is a huge selection of candy and everything is phenomenal!! The bourbon balls and dark chocolate covered raspberry jellies are my favorite!! The staff are SO very kind and the attached candy museum is nice to walk through! Don't miss stopping here if you're in the area!

Old-School Candy [Jeffersonville IN] So excited to find this old time candy shop in Jeffersonville, the store was just a little less than 7 miles from our hotel. Unfortunately, the shop was closed the first time we dropped by so we returned on our last day of vacation before heading to the airport. Inside are thousands of pieces of American candy memorabilia. The Candy Kitchen offered tours including a candy-making demonstration. The Chocolate Dipping Room and Candy Museum are always open for viewing during normal store hours. I believe reservation is required. They are a small mom and pop business and does not have a set production schedule - the candy makers cook what they need when they need it! The Deli Lunch Room opens at 11:00a and they have a cool old 1950's soda fountain. It was interesting looking at the antique equipment used in candy-making and the many pieces of American candy memorabilia representing decades of collecting candy equipment and artifacts. The Schimpff family has been making candy in Jeffersonville since 1871 and in Louisville since the 1850's. Wish we had time for a guided tour. Enjoy the photos. Bought some milk chocolate peanut clusters... mmm, mmm, mmm, so good... the chocolates didn't have time to melt! Ate them all in the airport. Instagram: @schimpffs.confectionery Review #3875

    Weird deviled eggs...

Stopped by Schimpff's in Jeffersonville after my walk across the Big Four Bridge and was instantly charmed by the vintage candy shop vibe. Walking in feels like stepping into a slice of history--old-fashioned candy jars, and shelves lined with nostalgic treats that bring back memories of my childhood in the area. I picked up some of my favorites... nonpareils, lemon drops, and their famous Red Hots--all delicious candies you just don't find in every store anymore. My family has been shopping for candy from Schimpff's for years, and it's always a special treat to find those sweets in our Christmas stockings. The shop also features a classic ice cream counter with a variety of flavors and a shake machine like the ones used at the original McDonald's. They even have a small lunch counter, though we didn't try it this time. It had some interesting offerings like wrapped up deviled eggs... yum? Though I didn't get to see any candy-making demos on this visit, just soaking in the atmosphere and all the history here made it totally worth the stop. If you're around Jeffersonville, Schimpff's is a must-visit for anyone who loves candy, nostalgia, or just a little taste of the past.

I walked over the bridge and made my way to Schimpff's this weekend with a couple other ladies. Wow! How have I not been here before. It's only been here over 130 years. It like an old time dinner and candy store in one. You can get fountain sodas, food, and basically any kind of candy you could imagine. They make 60% of the candy they sell. Yum. I had a hard time choosing what I want to buy so I made a 15 piece sampler box of just a few of the candies they make at the store. You can't go wrong with any of them. Of course, I couldn't leave without buying some of their homemade red hots too. Everyone was super friendly! I will be back and bring some visitors too!

I got recommended here from the steam boat museum, and I'm so glad I visited. The museum is free btw, and there's a ton of fun, weird and interesting trinkets. I ended up getting chocolate covered peanuts and dark chocolate covered espresso beans to take home from a work trip. If you need sugar free, they had quite a few good options there as well. The chocolate covered peanuts were perfect!

We walked over via the Big 4 Bridge this morning and headed to Schimpff's for lunch. Our party of 6 each ordered a different menu item and were content. I had a turkey on toasted rye with lettuce and mustard with a cup of vegetable soup. It was a basic lunch, fairly straightforward, and simple. Prices were affordable. Others in my group tried chili, BLT, pecan pie, and cherry cola and were satisfied. Service at the counter was pleasant. The business is quaint and cozy with antiques and classic advertising displays.

You can get candy almost anywhere today. Waiting in line at the checkout, the vending machine down the hall, ordered online. But Schimpff's is something more. You can visit just to buy amazing confectionaries, sure. But you're also getting to experience 133 years (as of this writing) of history as this local family continues its candy-making tradition. Part candy store, part museum, part soda fountain and ice cream bar, it all adds up to an experience that you're hard-pressed to find elsewhere. We spent time looking over the items from decades past as well as the amazing selections of sweets, finally settling on some chocolate covered caramels with sea salt for the day. Then we visited the ice cream bar and ordered a basic hot fudge sundae. I took one bite and could taste the difference. It had been so long since i had had genuine vanilla ice cream that the flavor burst through immediately. It was excellent!

An amazing candy store that has been around for generations in downtown Jeffersonville. There is public parking right near the store which had plenty of free parking available. The store itself has lots of candies and chocolates made right there ! A fantastic museum room with excellent curated vintage candy displays . Also a small hot lunch area that closed at 3pm but looked like it would have been tasty. Definitely a place not to be missed if you are in the area .

What a cool shop! I love the history and the style inside. Add to that friendly staff and delectable chocolates and you have something really special! My son was so excited about the fact that they had candy corn. Definitely make sure you stop by!

The Sweet Spot is less edgy (you won't find any "Fidel Castro's Havana Banana" soda here) but just as delightful for all ages - perhaps most of all for the adults who are fresh off a "Kentucky High-5" from Against the Grain down the street. Whether you're after regular packaged candy or the fancy glass-counter offerings, you'll find that the selection here is well above average. The staff is terrific and the prices really aren't bad for a specialty store like this. My favorite part is the soda cooler, which is reasonable at two bucks a bottle and contains some genuinely unexpected regional favorites. A visit to The Sweet Spot is your chance to finally try Double Cola in a glass bottle, enjoy a taste of Kansas City with some Atomic Fizz, or embrace your inner Evansvillian with some West Side Water (a.k.a. Ski). If you start regularly walking Bardstown Road, you just might find yourself visiting The Sweet Spot more than you expect. A true delight.
