Our anniversary weekend my wife and I visited the Falls of Ohio for the first time for a long (and very hot) walk. As we made our way back to the car I spotted The Widow's Walk and said to wifey "Wifey! ICE CREAM!" She looked back at me and said "ICE CREAM!". So we handily found ourselves at The Widow's Walk, perusing the menu. This adorable old Victorian style house is brightly colored and surrounded by a white picket fence. It's set across the road from the river, so it affords a few of the river and the passers by. I was impressed with the way they managed to stay in business while COVID ravaged so many eateries. They had a number of tables set outside for viewing the menu and placing your order. When your order was ready they'd bring it out to you. The inside was closed, but there were plenty of tables available outside and there's nothing stopping you from walking across the street and eating your frozen deliciousness along the river. I had a scoop of coffee ice cream and it was amazeballs! Wifey had butter pecan (ewww. I've never understood this flavor), but I had to take her word for it when she said it was out-freakin'-standing. This is a great little place for a frozen pick-me-up when spending a day by the river walk. Or dessert on date night. Or just because you want to. read more

Stopped here on a lovely spring day to enjoy a chocolate malt. Service was fast and efficient. Prices seemed a bit steep, but not too unexpected with the cost of everything now. The weather was perfect, so we really enjoyed their pleasant outdoor seating area and the great view of the river. Just note that all seating is outdoors, so it depends on the weather. The ice cream was good, reasonably priced, and well portioned, but the two specialty shakes we ordered were on the pricey side--and unfortunately, the thinnest milkshakes we've ever had. Walking over to Indiana, it's always a nice time. Now if you're hungry there's a lot of food options. But there are just some days, you need some ice cream. Do if you decide to walk from Big Four Bridge to widows walk, it is a bit of a track to be honest, but you have to walk off the ice cream right? This might be one of the best views of Louisville from Indiana. The old Victorian house is bright, yellow, and very inviting. There's a booth set up in the back where you can order your different ice cream treats. The menu is extremely extensive from scoops to sundaes to shakes and floats. Your are going to find some thing for every craving. I got the orange dreamsicle shake. It was creamy and delicious. What a great place to kick off pre-summer! (but with this heat, it basically already is..) This place is so frickin' adorable. After a walk across the Big Four Bridge, we decided to trek all the way over here just to finally try this place out. And it was 100% worth it. Not only do they have ice cream, but they also have a coffee shop. And at the ice cream area, you can order food items too! The ice cream is cheap, fresh, and oh so good. Not to mention that it is right by Ashland Park, so you can take whatever you got over to the park and enjoy the beautiful view of the Louisville skyline. If you'd like to stay under some shade, they have all kinds of seating right by their building! To add even MORE to this places' awesomeness, they also offer bike rentals. But the ice cream was crystallized and the flavor was not represented as it was supposed to - any topping drowned out the ice cream's flavor. My friends and I went to The Widow's Walk while on a girls' trip. A storm was rolling in, and we didn't check their Facebook for their hours (as instructed on their voicemail). As we were pulling up, they were closing down to get ahead of the storm it was just the owner and one other person working I believe her name was Dee. The owner graciously let us order quickly before closing down. I got a brownie ala mode with pumpkin ice cream. The description says, "Brownie with one scoop of ice cream". The brownie and the pumpkin ice cream were delicious, and that was the biggest scoop I've ever had. The owner and Dee were super nice and her signs all over are hilarious (if you have a sense of humor). FIVE STARS! If I'm ever back in the area, I will return :). read more

Perfect spot for a summer date night! I've been pushing for us to try Widow's Walk for awhile, and now I'm so glad we did! We started by renting a tandem bicycle. After signing a couple papers, we were on our way! It's $16/hour for the tandem, or $8/hour for individual bikes, which seems reasonable. We enjoyed a great ride through downtown Jeffersonville to the Big Four Bridge and then back to the Falls of the Ohio. We had plenty of time to cover that distance in an hour and it was really fun to ride together! After working up an appetite, we returned the bicycle and ordered some ice cream. My wife got the Moose Tracks and I got the Peanut Butter Sundae. Both were a very generous portion and really satisfying after a scenic bike ride. The house itself is really quaint and funky - a cool vibe for an ice cream shoppe. They have some parking on site and right across the street is a small park with plenty of parking. All in all we paid less than $30 for the tandem and ice cream, which is pretty good for a date night! If you're looking for something active to do with a sweet treat at the end, I highly recommend Widow's Walk! read more

(I had no issues with lactose at the time) Had to try the Cookie Monster. I mean, cmon?!?! He's my favorite from Sesame Street! Delicious! Love the blue in the ice cream!! Super cute, quaint and well kept but no public restrooms is disappointing considering the closest local bathroom is disgusting. They have a very small on sight car park but there is more parking just across the road. Widow's Walk is extremely hard to miss due to the decor, which is how I stumbled upon it while walking my dog some months ago. They have coffee, ice cream, milkshakes, even bike rentals, you name it. The quality is great and so is the price. It's one of my favorite things about this side of the Falls. I especially think it's a great date idea if you're looking to do something outside. Get some ice cream, rent a bike, and enjoy the view. Widow's Walk basically has it all due to their impeccable customer service, great treats, and smart location. There's something magical about visiting The Widow's Walk. It's behind a gorgeous old Victorian sitting on the banks of the Ohio directly across from the Louisville skyline. Sitting on rock benches eating ice cream and taking in the scenery is a great way to spend some time. I had butter pecan and he had dark chocolate. Both were good. This place also rents bikes if you are wanting to explore a little more. It has nice shaded tables and a quaint door to no where. On this particular night we were lucky enough to meet an amateur astronomer who showed us Jupiter with it's four moons and Saturn with it's rings. We also got to see a few fireworks. I'm a little afraid that the planned development is going to ruin this wonderful spot. read more

Huge portions!!! So greatful that I ordered a small. I have been here once before while in Jeffersonville for work and remembered it when I was sitting in the hotel. It is an amazing night out, so I went for a walk to get ice cream. They have a ton of flavors to choose between, specialty sundaes, shakes and more. You are also able to rent bikes and soon there will be a coffee shop. It is located right on the Ohio River Greenway. While eating my ice cream it was nice to sit out in the front garden and smell the flowers, hear the river and wind and see all the people out enjoying the night. Prices are reasonable, especially for the serving size. I do not even want to imagine what a large looks like. Add this to your list of stops if you are in the area. read more

The owners are planning to retire and are actively selling the place, but the bike rental and ice creamy should still remain there unless the new owners decide to discontinue the quaint business idea - which would definitely be a huge shame. We went there after a long warm hike in the Falls of Ohio State Park, which is only .7 miles away. And the Red Ruby float (the one with orange sherbet and Big Red) was just what I needed on a hot day. We also got a mango sherbet shake. Delicious. Originally, I thought the this was full ice cream parlor in the large house that faces the road. Turns out The Widow's Walk is the small walk up set up behind that building, which is totally fine. I got a couple scoops and we sat in the sun. It was good but to me was on par with something I could buy at the grocery store. That being said, it is is still a great stop or destination of if you are out walking along the Ohio, or over the walking bridge. read more

If you like banana splits like I do, then I highly recommend you go here and order the "BYO Banana Split"! When you see BYO(build your own) you know it's going to be a favorite. You can pick any 3 flavors of ice cream and any 3 toppings. Heaven in a bowl! There menu is different and has some unique items, which makes this place stand out from other ice cream "chains". The widows Walk is a cute little ice cream shop along the beautiful scenery at the Ohio river. The ambiance is very casual and the ice cream is pretty dang good. Today I purchased 5 different ice creams and they were all good. I'd have to say the strawberry cheesecake was the best, sadly there were no chunks of cheesecake in it. After we are our ice cream, we decided we wanted some coffee. Sadly the coffee selection is very small and there weren't many choices. I was hoping for a chai latte, but most options were k-cups poured over a scoop of ice cream. Unfortunately we skipped coffee at this location. read more

I'm always down to venture over from Louisville for some taste at the Widow's Walk. Widow's Walk started as just a little building ice cream treat stand that under new ownership has converted part of adjacent house into a coffee shop. While a separate but connected venture for this review I'll focus on the ice cream portion of the business. This excellent place may not offer 31 flavors, but they do have a few more than basic flavors than chocolate or vanilla. If you just want basic ice cream on a cone, they got you. Besides that they offer a variety of sundae combination and ice cream drink concoctions. Special note of the sherbet coolers, which is a sherbet flavor mixed with Sprite. Also, if you or someone in your party doesn't want that sweet treat goodness, they got food options like hotdogs and such. Please note if you venture to Widow's Walk during a busy night or peak hours, you might be waiting for a bit, not because of poor service but the logistics of a small building with only 2-3 employees max that can fit in there. read more

Absolutely horrible! We were treated extremely rudely by incompetent staff. The bikes all had under inflated tires, were dirty, and very poorly maintained. The ice cream tasted like discounted freezer burned Walmart brand. Also, the building is a total disguise. The neat little house that you think is the ice cream shop isn't. The actual ice cream shop is a tiny filthy little food cart behind the building. This place is the worst of the worst. It should get negative stars. I have never been so disgusted and disappointed in a place in my 36 years. This place should be leveled and a new business worthy of the beautiful riverfront built in its place. HORRIBLE! read more

Been coming here for years to get a yummy sundae on hot days. The staff always very friendly and the menu is huge for toppings and flavors. Just recently I been stopping once a week for a treat for myself and dog (Jakey) they give you free bowl of vanilla ice cream for your dogs. And when we get done walking the trails of the Falls. It is very nice place to sit and relax enjoying sweet reward for all walking we have done. Great ice cream with a fantastic view. The ice cream is made on site and sold out of a small building in the back where they also handle bicycle rentals. The main Victorian looking building is a salon with living space upstairs. The building faces a small park with downtown Louisville as the backdrop and is just down from the falls of the Ohio. The location also offers some basic food options which I have never tried but the ice cream itself is fantastic. read more
