The venue itself is not too big but, in this case it adds to the atmosphere. The staff is very friendly behind the bar as well as at the door. The prices are okay, standard for most bars in town. The crowd is a good mix of young and old, but it depends on the night as well as the particular performance. The sound system in this venue is okay, but loud performances are just a little bit too big for venues like this. The price of admission to a music performance is cheap (in this case 12 euros) for a music performance, and you often get a warm-up act to go with it. All things considered, I'll be back here whenever they have some other good artists coming up!

The first night I tried it was packed to capacity (even with sidewalk seating), so I decided to make a return trip during the day. It was decidedly more quiet and I grabbed a seat at the bar and got some recommendations from the bartender. Their beer selection is indeed top-notch. They had 10 taps and oh so many bottles. I asked for a local beer and got a deliciously dark and creamy Bax Bier Koud Vuur. Also had another beer that I don't recall. Not very helpful, I know. All in all, if you want to visit this place, go off-hours and not when everyone's trying to rage. That way, you can ask questions about beers and chill out instead of fighting your way to the bar.

Actually, sitting on one of the cushions on the window sill, on a rather nice summer day, with one of the beer wine glasses that you get in the Netherlands, was an experience, yet a part of me felt that I was actually back home in Melbourne - not that this was a bad thing, but this place certainly felt like one of those really hip and cool bars that you find in the Collingwood/Fitzroy areas. In the weekends they have live music. People are jumping and singing along like there is no tomorrow. This is a nice bar to let loose and forget about the little stuff. No special clothing rules either. Just come as you are. Everyone is laid back. And sometimes you can see people act really funny when they're drunk. You see the most crazy stuff out here. The music selection in itself is not really spectacular. It's middle of the road music and lots of top 40 music, new and old (mostly old) Every favorite song by the likes of Nirvana, Bob Marley, Pearl Jam, Michael Jackson, etc is song and performed by a live band that knows how to generate energy. The people behind the bar are real fun too. Some of them walk around to serve your drinks. If you and your friends are in a silly mood, they love to play along. There is this one kid everyone hits on and he likes it. I wonder on how many mobile photo's he has appeared. It one fun mad house. Don't mind the wood chips on the floor. Part of the unique atmosphere. I heard it makes it easier to soak op and clean spilled alcohol after closing time, hhmmmm.....smart though. You'll see every kind of people from all walks of life. We were on a self guided walking tour of Rotterdam and this place popped up on our radar as a nice place to grab a bite to eat and get out of the cold rain for a bit. It did not disappoint. We grabbed seats at the bar to better survey our surroundings. The place looked to be full of locals, so we knew we were in good hands. It's kind of a small place, with maybe 10 tables, but the mirrored wall makes it look much bigger. We had eaten a little earlier in the day, but still had a touch of the munchies, so we ordered a charcuterie board and lobster bitterballen, along with a beer for him and a coke for me. There were several kinds of meat on the board, from salami to prosciutto. All were delicious, and all seemed to melt in your mouth. The lobster bitterballen were even better than the waygu beef bitterballen we had earlier! We found this place after turning down the wrong street on our way back to the train station, and what a happy discovery it was; I've got it bookmarked, just in case I'm ever back in Rotterdam! 32/2019
