We heard about this studio from our local high school wrestling coach who has a 2nd degree BJJ black belt. HIS instructor learned from Prof Godoi, who's not only impressive with a 6th degree BJJ black belt and multiple IBJJF championships, but also a very warm, engaging, and encouraging instructor to our 6 yo gray belt son. We're excited for our son to continue learning from Prof. Godoi and fellow G13 students and instructors.

I was looking for high-quality instruction, a great community, and convenient class times, and G13 exceeded my expectations in all three areas. Professor Roberto Godoi, the founder, has an incredible amount of knowledge and is a fantastic teacher. All teachers at the school are some of the best I've ever encountered. The lessons are structured and easy to digest, and the community is welcoming and supportive. There are classes in the evenings and early mornings to accommodate busy schedules. The school is also welcoming to women and features a safe and clean environment. Overall, I highly recommend G13 for anyone looking for a top-notch Jiu Jitsu school in Raleigh.

One star for the lack of flexibility and transparency when it comes to membership pricing…read more We spent six months here with our son and were encouraged to pay for the entire six-month membership upfront as part of a promotion. When it came time to renew, we wanted to switch to monthly payments, only to be told that monthly memberships are not offered and that we would need to commit to another six months paid in advance. Apparently, the only flexibility is the ability to pause your membership after paying thousands of dollars upfront. Requiring families to commit to six months or even a full year with no shorter-term or month-to-month option is unreasonable. Families' schedules, finances, and circumstances change, and customers should have the ability to choose a payment structure that works for them. To me, this kind of rigid pricing model feels exploitative rather than customer-focused. A business can offer membership incentives without forcing families into lengthy financial commitments just to continue participating. The martial arts instruction may have value, but the lack of reasonable membership options and flexibility is extremely disappointing. I would encourage anyone considering enrollment to carefully review the contract and understand that you may not have the option to pay monthly, even after completing an initial commitment. Families deserve transparent pricing, reasonable choices, and the freedom to decide how they pay for a service.

Though I wrestled in high school and dabbled in karate, neither of those prepared me for how much I'd enjoy practicing jiu-jitsu. Seth has a genuine passion for the art and a gift for teaching, which makes him extremely effective as an instructor. Besides being detail-oriented with instruction, Seth is also good at tailoring his teaching to your skill and experience level. This helps new students like me see how fascinating the big picture of jiu-jitsu is, while at the same time refining advanced techniques among the more experienced students. Jiu-jitsu is very addictive because it presents both interesting mental and strenuous physical challenges. That makes it a terrific workout as well as a fun art to practice. Seth has created a school that makes training a pleasure. No matter if you've never grappled before or if you've developed skills over some years in the art of jiu-jitsu, you can learn a lot from Seth -- and have a great time doing it.
