And for a period of time I was breastfeeding, I was gluten, dairy, and soy free. We needed to find someone who understood our limitations but could also cook delicious food. Boy, did we find the right person! I contacted several people, and Julie was the only one who took the time to write a personalized response (instead of the generic one I received from the others). She has extensive experience with food allergies and knew all about FODMAP. Several emails later, we had set up a time for an in-person meeting to go over everything. Julie took her time to explain everything to us. From food preferences, to what to expect each week, to payment, Julie was very thorough. She even walked through our kitchen to make sure she knew what items were missing and needed to bring. Every week she contacts us a few days before to ask us what we are craving. If we tell her to give suggestions, she happily obliges and her recommendations are always so enticing. She'll even research dishes that she is unfamiliar with and nails it on the first attempt. She always shows up on time, is always respectful of us since we both work from home, and cleans up after herself. Delicious food just seems to magically appear after only a few hours! On to the food. It is nothing short of scrumptious. Even with all our restrictions, Julie always manages to put so much flavor into every dish. Even something as "boring" as sautéed broccoli is seasoned to perfection. Our picky 2 year old will eat foods he normally never touches as long as Julie is the one who cooked it! If you're looking for a chef who is professional, organized, and clearly loves food, look no further than Julie. (Even though she is based in Norwalk, she travels all over Los Angeles - including our place in West LA.)

I randomly learned about Chef Julie from another Chef I found on Yelp. The Chef I found on Yelp did not service my area so she "highly recommended her colleague, Julie." We really wanted someone to come to our home to prepare some meals. The meals are primarily for my diabetic father but we all planned to partake in the delicious home cooking. I sent an email to Julie and she responded within an hour. We exchanged several emails. Each email was very thorough. Chef Julie is very reflective and works hard to ensure my family is getting exactly what we need and want. Chef Julie takes her time to plan and prepare the highest quality of meals. My family gets so excited when we know she's coming. She offers flexible scheduling and affordable pricing. We can't even tell you our favorites because there are too many. Each time she comes over we discover something new that we like. Chef Julie provides great recommendations for broadening our food repertoire. In conclusion, you should really check Chef Julie out. I strongly feel that you will be pleasantly surprised with the amount of time that she takes with her clients.

You can save yourself a few minutes and just reach out to the Lawry's catering team--you will be impressed and hopefully, your quest for a caterer will come to a happy conclusion! For those that need more reassurance, here is my review: Lawry's catered my outdoor wedding for 180 guests back in August 2016. Food was the number one priority for me (I didn't even look at a venue unless it allowed for outside catering). Finding the right caterer was a very stressful and time-consuming process (slow or no responses, disappointing food options, expensive quotes, etc.)...that is until I reached out to Lawry's. Lawry's is my husband's favorite restaurant, but the restaurant is a little pricey, so it's strictly a "special occasion" place for us. We never thought we could afford to have them cater our MOST special occasion. We did not have a big wedding budget. In fact, while interviewing vendors, I had a wedding planner and another caterer tell me my budget was unrealistic for 180 guests. Luckily we saw online reviews that stated that Lawry's was surprisingly affordable, so we reached out to Miranda and she was able to work with our budget! What amazed us was, compared to the other catering quotes (we reached out to over twenty caterers and eventually got quotes from about a dozen), Lawry's quote offered us the most value for our budget: 1) Best quality of food options, including their prime rib and various seafood options. 2) Highest count of employees working our event (servers, cooks, coordinators, etc.). 3) Lowest glass and barware cost by a huge margin 4) Valuable early booking incentives that saved us a couple hundred dollars 5) If you want to provide your own alcohol--no problem! They can provide bartenders at competitive rates (comparable to what we saw on Craigslist). Also, their servers will help serve drinks during cocktail hour and dinner (this is not something that all caterers are happy to do if you don't go with their alcohol package, which I can understand, so this was one of the ways that Lawry's went above and beyond) 6) You get 10% back in the form of dining credit to use on future visits to the restaurant. 7) You do not need to provide a final headcount until 5 days before the event (no need to worry about last minute cancellations!) We did not hesitate to book with them. The catering coordinator, Miranda, continued to impress us throughout the whole planning process. She proved herself to be incredibly proactive, capable, detail-oriented and hardworking. We also felt that she truly cared about our event. In the months and days leading up to our wedding, I honestly did not once worry about the catering aspect of our event--I had full confidence in the Lawry's team and I could not be more satisfied with how everything turned out: 1) Food was just as delicious as it is in the restaurant (my husband says it was better at our wedding haha). Portions were generous and they were able to accommodate all dietary restrictions. 2) Lawry's had to 'flip' the ceremony site into the reception/dinner site and they were able to do a gorgeous and detailed job within the one hour I allocated for cocktails. 3) It was clear that Miranda communicated all our comments and suggestions from the food tasting to the chef b/c every item turned out EXACTLY as we had hoped it would. 4) Service was phenomenal--guests commented on how friendly, attentive and quick the servers were. The kitchen was also fast in accommodating guests (some guests had forgotten to communicate dietary restrictions to me beforehand or decided to make a last minute change in their meal choice). 5) Guests said that the bartenders were awesome and efficient and that the drinks were delicious! Again, I cannot adequately detail everything that the Lawry's team did for us on our wedding day. We are still getting wonderful feedback from our guests and a few actually THANKED us for giving them their first Lawry's dining experience haha! Thank you Miranda + Team--you guys were truly wonderful to work with. Having you guys as our caterer was one of the best and most memorable things about our wedding.

Yes, Lawry's caters!…read more We used Lawry's Catering for our wedding in July 2012, and we couldn't be happier we did! The food was great, just like eating in the restaurant! They brought the huge carving station with them, and carved in front of our guests! They also had all the other little touches with them as well, like the Spinning Salad and Yorkshire pudding (cooked on site!). They handled the 200 people in our wedding with ease! As far as the service, well, I had a TON of guests tell me after the wedding, through email and phone calls that the Lawry's staff was so professional, courteous and helpful. How often do wedding guests talk about the service!?!? They were AMAZING! They took care of all the other vendors as well, and made sure that everyone had enough to eat. They also made sure that all the pregnant guests were given well done cuts as well! (we had a lot of pregnant guests for some reason!) I also want to say, Melissa Navarro is AMAZING! If you look up comments about her, they'll all be positive. And she deserves all the praise that she is given! She made everything so easy for us, and worked with us to personalize the menu to fit into our budget. She is very prompt with email and made sure to answer all our questions quickly. This might seem like a little thing, but we had 10 vendors, and getting a quick reply made our lives so much easier. She's also very very VERY nice! She was a joy to meet with, and put both of us at ease the very first time we met with her. She's just good peeps, and was so easy to talk to! I'd like to think that we not only got a chance to use a really, really good vendor in Lawry's, but we also made a new friend in Melissa! I can go on and on about Melissa and Lawry's catering, but I think I've made it clear that we were blown away by the level of service, and quality of food. Deposit is required for booking and I believe it's non refundable. Other than that the catering service is by far the best I've had the pleasure of working. I have hired them for 3 event now and The staff was very professional and pleasant to all my guest. They met all my request and expectations the set up was soo beautiful !
