Grace Ridge is a nice microbrewery located a stone's throw from the Homer Spit. When we visited they had two food trucks on site and about ten beers on tap. We tried just about everything available and found most beers to be solid representations of their styles, with the Black Pepper IPA, Raspberry Blonde and Wild Honey Saison being at the top for me. Nothing was truly exceptionable, but all enjoyable. Their homemade root beer was unique and a good NA option. The staff (presuming they were the owners) were very friendly, the interior space is comfortable and they have a fair amount of patio space for when the weather allows for it. read more

Always love seeing new brewery additions! Grace Ridge is located close to the spit, and is easy to find. They share a building with UPS so parking was a little difficult, but there is a lot. I believe they opened in 2018 or 2017. I just know it wasn't open in August 2017 so they are fairly new! This brewery has a cool story. It's family owned, and they actually started as home brewers, and perfected their craft! As someone who has attempted home brewing before that is definitely no easy task! Inside was on the smaller side, but had a lot of setting options including an outdoor area! Seems like they have food trucks available sometimes. There were wood fire tacos being cooked outside, which I thought was very unique! They have 4 flagship beers with a few different varieties of beer styles. They also typically have at least 2 specialty beers on rotation. Everything I tried was well made, and had goof flavor profiles. The owners were there, and they love chatting about their beer so if you have questions feel free to ask away!! Definitely a welcomed addition to Homer! read more

I stopped by here earlier this afternoon to taste some beers. Grace Ridge Brewing is located on B st. right near the Homer spit. On the day that I was there, the first thing I noticed was a brick oven cooking tacos. It sounded and smelled good but unfortunately I wasn't looking for food and so I proceeded inside. The inside of this place in interesting with a number of high top tables, a counter to order the beer, art for sale on the walls and then some outdoor seating as well. As I often do at a new brewery, I went with the sampler here. For $10 it consisted of all 5 beers (4 oz pours) that they currently had on tap. That means I got the Kayak Beach Blonde, Otter Bay Amber, Sadie Peak IPA, Jutka Bay Tangerine IPA and island cove sour. Since there wasn't a porter or stout in the group, all of my beers appeared from a straw haze color to red. All of them were pretty good but I think my favorite of the bunch was the Tangerine IPA which had nice flavoring of Tangerine at first before evolving into that great IPA hoppiness. While I was expecting the sour to be my second favorite, it actually disappointed as it didn't taste like a true Belgian sour. Oh well! The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. It seems like quite the chill spot which also had good beers. read more

What?! Homer has ANOTHER brewery now?! Why was I not notified immediately?! This place is located on the right side of the road, right next to UPS, on your way to the spit. No food here, just tasty brews and a nice, spartan, space to chill in. They had local art on the walls and a friendly staff. Beers were good, definitely on the hoppier side when compared to the other brewery in town (although they also had a helles lager for you folks that like it on the milder side). In fact, I found their IPA to be so perfectly hopped that every beer I had afterwards at the Champagne Palace felt kind of...muted. Bonus points for staying open during the winter! I love visiting Homer in the off-season, the problem is that it's a real challenge to find places that aren't closed till summer. read more

I ordered their Tangerine IPA the other day. It was crisp and refreshing for a style commonly regarded for its hop-centric flavor. In that sense, it was quite different from most IPAs I've had but it was very tasty and drinkable regardless. What really pushes this place over the top for me are the interactions I had with the owners who were manning the front lines--taking orders and pouring pints. My conversation with the gentleman in particular was awesome in that he got to talking about a few breweries in Anchorage he was fond of. It's always a delightful experience to witness someone "geek out" about their craft, as it were. In my opinion, being able to demonstrate your passion and share your experiences is what the craft beer scene is all about. As such, I'm more than happy to rate this as one of the best breweries I've been to. read more

Such a cute place! A few tables inside to sit at and a cute outdoor space. The owner is absolutely lovely! She allowed us to try a few different beers before making our selection. She had some great stories to tell and everything tasted great. A good variety for different folks. She is in the process of getting a food truck vendor back so you can order a meal. A solid brewery spot! Nothing fancy, but there is a good variety of beer and it's all good. I rarely go to a brewery and like all of the beers on tap, but I really liked all the ones I tried here. The bar tender was very nice and knowledgeable about the beers. They also have local art on display that you can look at and purchase. We enjoyed checking out all the artwork while we drank our beers. Their crawlers/growler fills are a little on the pricey side. Definitely worth checking out if you're a craft beer lover and appreciate variety! read more

This is a cool little brewery which is one of only a few in town. It might be hard to find at first because it's directly connected to a UPS shipping building. Haha. I came at a quiet time with some friends and was excited to try some local brews. The lady tending the bar was very knowledgeable and help us pick the right beers. They have some swag you can purchase near the counter. They have a growler and growler covers if interested. Their growlers do seem to be the screw top kind, which wouldn't be my first choice but hey, it still hold beer. The do sell some of there beers in giant beer cans...like I mean really big beer cans. I thought this was cool and pretty unique. At the time I was there they were selling a couple of there beers for a limited time in wine bottles with decorative label, which was also cool. All in all there are some great beers to be had here. If you're in the area and want something local than I'd come take a load off here. read more

Gotta hold off on saying anything about the beers! I was there for the 'Tacos by Joe!!' I ordered & quickly received a smoked pulled pork soft taco. It was absolutely terrific! The other taco, ordered for a friend was also great - all smoked veggies! Wish I'd had time to sample the beers but next time! And, there WILL be a next time! The establishment was clean, stylish and the staff was polite and were really quick processing my order. From start to finish, it was faster than a drive thru! We were staying at a near by location, walked over to see what it was, as we love breweries. Walked in, looked around, very nice, seems brand new. We always look at souvenirs, first thing I notice about is they charge $2 for coasters. I've never known a brewery to charge for coasters! Two people were sitting at a table, I looked and they did not have coasters under their drinks. Assume they don't even give them out free with drinks?? They had a nice variety of about 6 taps. My husband tried one she said was lightly smoked. He tasted it, liked it, but said he didn't think it was "lightly" smoked. She (the owner?) argues with him! Made it very clear that she has had smoked beers and this one was definitely lightly smoked. He politely said again "interesting, it's just more smoky than I thought it would be" and she started all over again! As we discussed what to try or what to have we realized it was almost 8pm. (Not sure of the laws, but some breweries in Alaska cannot serve past 8pm) I mentioned that he had about 10 minutes and she firmly corrected me that we had 13 minutes. He said he would just come back the next day, she was very pushy that he had time to have one. Then suggested one of the crowlers in the cold case. He said he would rather come back the next day for fresh from the tap and she said, very snarky, "I just filled those today! I did! I would not lie to you about that." We never said she did't fill them, he just wanted it fresh from the tap! We nicely thanked her, walked out and did not return the next day. We may try it again some day, after we give her some time to learn the number 1 rule in customer service is the customer is always right. She could have had a nice conversation with him about Smokey flavors, he would have loved to talk about it with her. She basically told him he was wrong and crazy. Secondly, she may be new to the brewery business, so will need to learn that beer drinkers don't pay for their coasters! read more

A pretty standard microbrewery, and although not a bad spot at all for a beer, it was perhaps the most forgettable one on our trip. The beers were decent, but none stood out, including the one with peanut butter. There is some outdoor seating, but the views were nothing special. Overall, I'd say it was pretty average, but I'd have no problem returning. read more

It's a good thing the beer is top notch because everything else was just, meh. The service was service. There's maybe 4 spots to sit in the whole place, but everything's new so that makes you feel better. I would buy the beer 10/10 and I'm glad I can support another Alaskan microbrewery, however the place itself is nothing special at all. Truly a 3 star experience with 5 star beer. read more
