I recently came to House of Shine to attend a junk journaling class. The environment was friendly,…read moreinviting and the space was beautiful. Before the class starts, one of the staff will discuss the vision behind House of Shine and ways to get involved. They have a yearly rotating exhibit with interactive activities throughout the space. Amanda the founder of DFW Junk Journaling Club was our instructor. Amanda provided information on junk journaling, showed examples through her own journals, provided supplies and answered any questions we had. The journaling classes are low cost ($10) and they have ample parking available on site. We were encouraged to bring our own supplies for junk journaling which includes receipts, stickers, pictures, cards etc. The class was casual and you could come and go as you pleased. There are meetups throughout the year for those interested in junk journaling discussed on their Instagram page or on linktree. I left the class inspired and look forward to expanding my creativity through journaling. I look forward to attending another journaling class in May.

I don't shop here often, but I like to pop in occasionally to see what they have. This time,…read morethough, I was genuinely surprised by some of the pricing. Especially on purses, shoes, and furniture. A lot of it felt wildly inflated, even compared to Goodwill. I kept browsing out of sheer curiosity and couldn't wrap my head around some of the tags: used plastic shoes priced at $40+, a worn out Michael Kors bag for $30. The clothing section seemed more reasonably priced, although I didn't notice any higher-value brands to really justify a comparison. Overall, this place feels very hit or miss. You might stumble across a decent find, but anything with a recognizable name seems to be marked up far beyond what it's worth.

Reached out to them in desperation as I was living in my car and they reached out next morning asap eager to provide any assistance they could. I had been calling 20-30 homeless shelters and organizations a day trying to seek immediate shelter, and this ranch is the only place that stepped up to take me in . The owners are generous beyond words, just unconditional love and support every step of the way. Their cause is noble, their hearts are boundless, and they truly live by example. Could gush over them for days for all the help they've given me. Amazing housing accommodations- literally fully stocked cottage with the most tasteful decor and well thought out necessities already provided. If something wasn't there, they were eager to provide it asap. The farm is just adorable; all the animals are well taken care of and are such a pleasure to visit. It's quiet, comfortable, peaceful, and you can tell how much care was poured into putting these places together. Just all the little touches they've added. There's a full-sized oven/stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, washer and dryer provided, a place to shower, storage embedded for me to squirrel away belongings as needed, too lol. Roku TV was installed in my current unit today. Free and good Wi-Fi. Keurig for coffee. Even a water purifier! O_O Seriously what homeless shelter does that?? None. None I tell you. I've been there, lived in a shelter for 6 months, and this ranch blows every other place out of the water. Messina's took the job on the spot. A simple fix, done right in the store while I waited for a whole three minutes. And ultimately. they charged me very little for the repair. I had to return the next day and what was promised was not done and the work product looked hideous. The customer before me was upset because they paid for express service but her product was not finished in the time promised. The clerk went behind the wall and complained the customer was being rude, to the owner loud enough for us to hear. The customer said she apologized for being "rude" but she was disappointed her shoes were not ready when she paid for express service and when she was promised. Very disappointed in all around service!
