He gave me Novocaine and waited at least 10-15 minutes (while I enjoyed nitrous to dull this whole experience) until the whole area was beyond numb. Then he went in, constantly checking in on my well-being and stress levels and letting me know what he was doing along the way. I gave massive anxiety going to any dentist, so knowing the only way to get a diagnosis was going for a consultation terrified me as also had an abscess on the exterior pocket of the tooth. His staff made me feel comfortable right away. I told the doctor that I was afraid of losing my tooth. After reviewing the tooth ,and a few X-rays assured me that he could save my tooth. I filled my prescription which took care of the infection in 63 hours. He was so sweet and gentle, I couldn't believe how easy and non eventful the whole procedure was . I've been to others for consultations wanting to see if I could find a Dentist closer to where I live, but unfortunately, there just isn't anyone quite like Dr Schulman...so I drive to him. His office staff are friendly and incredibly helpful. His office is clean. He himself is kind and takes his time to listen to you and explain about what the particulars are about your specific situation. He is not trying to push any treatments. Just today I had my second root canal performed by Dr. Schulman and the root canal itself was a piece of cake, when the anesthesia wore off now that's another story - there's pain medication for that though! I came on time and the doctor reviewed a new scan they just took with a very sophisticated X-ray machine. The doctor reviewed, asked me some history and tapped away until he decided that my tooth was in good shape other than the fact that I had some bone loss and the root was very much alive. It was protocol that I consult with him since there was a shadow on my original X-ray from Seda Dental. This office was beautiful and immaculate with up/to-date equipment. Seeing my obvious distress, he immediately gave me four shots to get the pain under control--a wonderful start. My case was complicated. I had a single tooth with four calcified, narrowed roots that required complex root canal therapy. Dr. Jakob worked with determined, gentle precision. Until now, I've never had a professional office of any type call me in advance to let me know doctor is a little behind schedule and I should arrive later. How considerate! I was referred to Dr. Schapiro for a possible root canal re-treatment but when he looked at my x-ray, he recommended an apicoectomy, which is basically a root canal through the gums. Seemed like a much better solution than pulling the tooth as my dentist had recommended. The procedure went well due to Dr. Schapiro's skill. His staff provided a neck pillow and a soft, warm blanket to keep me comfortable. Throughout the procedure, Dr. Schapiro asked if I was doing okay. And he repeatedly thanked his assistant for each task she performed. So polite! The atmosphere in this office is so welcoming and uplifting that my consternation about being there quickly faded away. Dr. Schapiro called me after the procedure and had me return a couple of times (at no extra cost) just to be sure I was healing well. I highly recommend Dr. Schapiro. I also made appointments with Dr. Michael Rodriguez and that also went smoothly. He was very thorough in his explanation of treatment and very light handed when working in my hand. The new people have provided me wrong copayment information, have not done what they said they would do and told me my refund was being mailed, when it has not been. Xavia is not easy to deal with, has a condescending attitude with patients and actually had the audacity to tell me that "that is why he is the owner", when 3 weeks ago I indicated it is not fair for patients to be made to wait for responses regarding over payments because the owner/dentist only works one day a week. Not an appropriate response, in my opinion. Given I have had to chase refunds from this office twice now, I will not be paying for services upfront. Will wait for EOB to do so; and if not able to, then I guess I will be looking for a new dentist. I have left messages asking for either the owner or my treating dentist to call me, and nothing. I guess they are not interested in knowing what their patients are going through. This has really left a bad taste in my mouth. Would have never happened with Amy. Good employees are truly hard to find.
