GCS is a blessing. We lived in Sitka and needed a school that could not only prepare our kids for college but also help care for them spiritually. In a world that seeks to take kids from parents, we needed to find a school we could partner with to guide our kids scholastically and spiritually without sacrificing the other fun stuff like sports and the arts. At Grace, we have found a home for all of our children.
From basketball to painting, cross-country skiing to orchestra classes, Student Council to mission trips in Russia or Guatemala our kids are able to get more than just an education. We do believe 1 Corinthians 15:33 and that it does matter who is around your kids both as peers, teachers, and administrators.
Students at Grace reached out and invited my kids in and made them feel welcome. That is tough for kids to do, but it is something many at the school step up and make a priority. Welcoming new students to the school and to their friend group. The school will not make your kids great alone, it takes a partnership with the family.
Is the school perfect, no, but neither am I. Do the teachers and staff love the students? I think so. They are all there because they believe in the mission of guiding students scholastically and spiritually. Many former students return after college to continue to contribute to the mission by volunteering or working at the school, others bring their kids back to share in the same blessing they have had.
Are there other options? Yes. Would I consider anywhere else? Not in Anchorage. This school is right for our kids and we all love this school and invite you to come and see why we do. They have personal tours they can take you and your kids on and also have days where students can shadow a peer and see what a day in the life at the school is like, which I think is the best option if you can. read more
