Although I have faith in the Montessori Method, I don't believe this school is equipped to deliver it faithfully. Every time my son had the slightest physical problem, I would get a call to pick him up. My son got his first scar at AMS due to a lack of supervision. My son would have a tantrum and nobody at AMS knew how to handle it. And I would get a call to pick him up. I don't believe AMS provides any different quality of care for the money than any other childcare provider in Anchorage. And for much less money, I believe there are childcare centers in Anchorage who provide a much higher quality of care. Not recommended. read more

I am very unhappy with the quality of care provided by this school. My daughter did learn a lot in the mornings. But the afternoons are spent eating, napping and playing outside and my daughter can do that anywhere. Also, another child poked my daughter in the eye but they still called me to pick her up because they thought she had pink eye (she didn't). And I had to keep her home the following day because they insisted she was contagious (she wasn't). My son and I had a terrible experience at AMS. It is overpriced. There is a high turnover of directors. Some faculty have a lot more power than they should. There is no parental support. All AMS cares about is money, really. This is not unusual for childcare centers. But most childcare centers don't charge as much as AMS for the same quality of care. Ask a LOT of questions before you enroll your child at AMS. And make sure you hold AMS accountable for the answers. Good luck. read more
