Gave them the deposit and now it's like pulling teeth to find out when the deck building will begin. We don't hear from our salesman

The selection process was pressure-free and at our own pace (Drew was great). Scheduling was easy, and within a few weeks of signing the papers, we had our deck and fence replaced. Both jobs were completed in great time. Good crews, good communication, zero problems. Be prepared. Fences and decks are not (and should not) be cheap. Be prepared to discuss/understand permitting, municipal surveying, and inspections. Take your time and be patient--with ANY deck and fence vendor.

I have decided to post my review on Yelp, after having a terrible experience with them and reading…read moreof the other posts on Yelp. It is just not a reputable company, and their practices to feed off insurance is shocking. My neighbor had their fence done by them 2 years ago, and, as we shared the cost of our joint fence, I called them up for an estimate to redo our back fence following the tornado. When they saw the tornado damage, they sent me a quote back for essentially the same job (except one side, not three). This was 44% more than what was paid two years ago!? The salesman provided no reason; wood or labor has not gone up by these amounts. And the cost that had been quoted two years was not a bargain to begin with ($5,257.05 for one side of fence). It is shocking to me that a company that intends to maintain a reputation should exploit those hit by the tornado for easy cash. I would have understood if they were too busy and could not take more jobs, or even if they had a longer delay. But Nick W. said they could actually start fairly quickly, so it's not issue of labor. I shared my concerns about this practice, and they accused me, completely out of nowhere, to be aggressive. I did ask them if they had suddenly increased their price in response to the tornado, and they did not respond. But I resent this attempt at making personal attacks, as this is completely wrong and just not descriptive of just asking a reasonable question. Unfortunately, this strategy of making things personal is all too common when someone they don't like the question. So, my response is to keep it to the substance of the issue. After the fact, when I wrote to make this public, since people and insurance companies should know about their change in prices (and ask them questions). They actually claimed that materials had gone up, to quote lumber by 28-42 %, concrete by ~35 %, labor/fuel/insurance by 18-25 %. And even claimed sources (BLS Producer Price Index, local supplier invoices, and Missouri Department of Insurance rate filings). That is completely false as any serious study would see https://www.bls.gov/regions/mid-atlantic/data/producerpriceindexlogging_us_tables.htm for a source. Of course, even then, we'd be quite far from a 44% price hike exactly when insurances are ready to pay up! Again, this is a very disappointing and there are many better reputable companies here in St Louis that do not feed on the misery of others. In the end, I am glad that we did not do business with them but I hope that bad experience will be informative to others!

Permaseal USA, located in St. Louis County Missouri, is not or has not, honored a 25 year warranty…read morethat was included in the selling of their deck sealing treatment. I have been ignored presently when calling this company about the rot and deterioration of my wood deck; which was treated in 2019. Approximately a year ago, I called the company and one of their employees came out to look at the damage and was assured that it would be taken care of; since the damage had occurred after their treatment. My deck was completely fine with no rot or deterioration prior to their treatment. The construction repair employee, named Kevin, said that he would come back with the wood needed or required to repair my deck. As recent as a couple of months ago I even spoke with Ben Jensen, the owner of the company; whom also reassured me that he would honor the 25 year warranty for this problem. Now, within about the last few weeks, all that I have received from the company is a couple of e-mails from Neal, a manager, stating that the warranty does not cover any replacement of wood that has rotted or deteriorated. I have a warranty that states any wood that rots or deteriorates after the treatment would be covered under the warranty. What good is the warranty if they won't replace wood that has rotted after their treatment? My deck was in perfect condition before they treated it; as they surely wouldn't warranty the treatment if any previous rot or deterioration was present! I have also filed a complaint with the Missouri Attorney general and the Better Business Bureau. Apparently, this company is trying to avoid honoring the 25 year warranty and not standing behind their treatment service! Sent from Mail for Windows
