There was no one there, surprisingly, and for some reason they didn't allow backpacks inside. It had nothing to do with outside food, they just refuse to even hold on to the bag in some storage or locker or something. Which makes no sense because they are right near a campus, pretty sure that's their whole potential clientele. But that explains why there was no one there, which explains why they can't clean or renovate the premise, no one goes there anymore. Shocker. Just hope another movie theatre opens shop nearby because I genuinely love cinema but this place apparently doesn't.

One ongoing event that's definitely worth checking out is the Tuesday Dinner & Movie night. For $15, you get a candlelit dinner (catered by Scanoli's Cajun and BBQ Restaurant, across the street) and a classic movie. These days, the movie alone would cost you $10! And that means that the $5-dinner, already very good on the palate, was also quite gentle on the wallet. They also show Monday night football on the big screen. Moreover, for most of these events, the bar is open, which means you can enjoy a drink while you watch the movie. Tell me, where else in the US can you do that! I'm sure such places exist, but they're few and far between. For what it's worth, you can also rent out the space for events such as receptions and weddings. I haven't yet been there for something like that. But if it's handled anywhere near as well as the movie night, I'm already a fan.

It's the home of the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra - yes, Lafayette does indeed have a symphony orchestra. Lately they have been booking more musical acts. We went to see some tribute bands here and had a great time. They have also been booking some mid-level acts, including a couple of well-known Christian artists. The venue has a lot of that old vaudeville charm. The original architectural details have been preserved. There is a lobby where alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are served, and you can hang until the show starts. The ushers are all volunteers, believe it or not, and they are super friendly and helpful. The only thing I can think of to criticize is the loudness of the bands we saw. A bit loud for the room, we thought. But we still had a blast!

My husband and I went to the Haan Mansion Museum of Indiana Art on a day when the mansion was…read moreclosed. It was the only time that we could fit it into our schedule. Why bother visiting if the mansion is closed, you ask. There is a cute sculpture garden behind the mansion that is open even when the mansion is closed. There are close to 30 sculptures. It is really fun to take a walk through the garden and see the statues. It will give you something to talk about and plenty of photo opportunities. If the outside is this fun, I can't wait to see the inside!

Visited today for their Holiday decorations. I have driven by the mansion hundreds of times but…read morenever stopped in before. There is limited parking next to the house but plenty of street parking. We walked up to the front door and you have to ring the doorbell to get let in. We were greeted by one of the many volunteers on site. Frequently, there is a short presentation before your self-guided tour. We missed the presentation so the volunteer gave us the highlights. Mr. And Mrs. Haan, who donated the house to their museum foundation, were walking the house also!! We made our way through the mansion which is wonderfully decorated for the holidays. Upstairs, there are multiple train sets. One has buildings from England and the U.S while the other one features Lafayette buildings that have been made available around town for purchase. It took us about one hour to take in the whole house and read about the antiques and view the Indiana art. (P.S.- there is a public restroom available for use if needed on the first floor). We enjoyed this visit and look forward to coming back in the Spring to enjoy the outdoor sculpture garden.
