First impression walking in. Cool spot hip, trendy spot, clean, spacious, enough seating, lots of parking. Staff was very friendly, welcoming. Our barber was Ray and he was very polite, friendly and very experienced. He made my son feel comfortable as it was his first hair cut in 9 years. I highly recommend this place and barber. read more

I've been coming to GQ cuts since they opened and nothing has changed. Great service, knowledgeable barbers and quick with suggestions that WORK. Rich has been taking care of me for years. He's always quick to respond to my questions and if I need to set up an appointment, he always accommodates me when he's able. Everyone here is friendly, there is such an upbeat vibe in the shop everytime I come in. You get what you pay for, and what you get at GQ cuts is QUALITY. They are a staple of DTLP, and the best. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a while. Came in a few weeks ago to get a haircut not knowing it was by appointment only. I got lucky as my barber's (Rich) appointment wasn't there and he took me on as a walk in! Rich is fantastic and super chill. You'll never be disappointed, the price is more than fair for the quality you're getting here! read more

Became a regular here. Amazing cuts for a good price. Definitely worth coming and becoming a regular.

I always drive out from LA to come to this barber shop. The atmosphere is very chill, very party rock. There is a huge widescreen in the middle of the establishment. The chairs are pointed towards the direction of the TV screen so you can watch music videos, movies, etc while getting your haircut. The stylists are often styling for various model hair shows. This is a definite local downtown La Puente hidden gem. Although, I think many of the locals flock to this place. One of the stylists even does LMFAO's hair on tour. This place tends to cater to the young urbanite. If you want a fresh stylish look to go to the club with, then this is definitely the place to go at affordable rates. read more

I was visiting a friend in the area that had recommended this shop. I made an appt, and had to reschedule a couple times. I finally made it, and met with Rich. I felt at home, right away. He listened to my concerns, the direction of what I wanted my hair to do, and given his full-knowledge within the industry of hair, I allowed him to make any adjustments he deemed accordingly. Needless to say, I was completely satisfied with my haircut! I may just be driving out of my way to come get a haircut at GQ Cuts, a family friendly community barbershop! read more

This was my first time bringing my son here I think it's about time for him to seek some professional haircuts being a teenager and all . So first impression greeting us when we walked in was a plus . I can see it's a very busy place with regulars and newbies ( us) they told us about the wait time and when to return and they would take care of us . We returned with a welcome back from everyone pretty amazing and consistent . So I am a mom with few patience ... ( as rob says I go from 0 to 100 real quick) lol I waited and they attended my son I looked at everything and paid attention to detail Martin was so attentive to my son which actually brought tears HUSH IM A MOM . And that's my baby lol Anyways I watched the convo around the place the manager Gabriel who offered me coffee / cocoa which I surely needed but passed next time I will take the offer . I see the skills the tools Mark used and he really showed how much pride he takes in his work . I can see my son was happy because sometimes u need a place for your young man to be around a crowd with funny and good convo . Just like moms with there hair salons . I knew it was going to be pricey but I seen everyone engaged and cutting hair with perfection. So just like that saying u get what u pay for . So on the bad reviews on here maybe it just wasn't for u the atmosphere and that's ok move on . So once my son was done I was like wow his hair was stunning . I asked how this barber worked regarding appointment etc and It was explained and understood . Thank u not only to Mark but to everyone yes you have your regulars however u welcomed my son and future regular . We found our spot . Keep up what u do u can't win them all impossible some people are just not satisfied with anything so your better without them . See you next time and Again thank you for making my son open up amazing simple a read more

Still come here exclusively for my hair cuts, unfortunately Cessy has left the shop. In other news the price of a cut is now $15 which is still better than most shops and you cannot get nearly as good a cut as you do here. If you are looking for a new barber who has an awesome owner (Gabriel) and an awesome staff who not only know what looks good but also know how to deliver I cannot recommend a better place. So come get a new cut and see what I am talking about! read more

My kids had a tumbling class next door today. We walked by this place and I decided to give them a try. They had a few people waiting when I walked in. I signed in when they were in class so we didn't wait long when we returned. I showed Gabriel a picture of what my son wanted. What I really liked was that Gabriel explained what he was going to do before he started. He was very patient with my son. We loved how his haircut turned out. We will be returning for his future haircuts. read more

Went for the first time, they took my appointment after 6 with no problem. They did a design, cut, and dye job on my hair. I am extremely satisfied. My hair was done by Rich B, I HIGHLY recommend his services. He did a real nice masculine cut, that was still a lil crazy (its hard to get the right balance). GQ did an amazing design job on my hair. (I got the ASOT and Ferry Corsten Logos on my head, picture perfect). You can see the picture I uploaded. Did a real cool red color for my hawk too. Amazing shop, great pricing, cool neighborhood, whats not to like. Come here, you won't regret it. 5 Stars. read more

First time visitor. Enjoyed the atmosphere (music selection on point!) . Great customer service. Professional, friendly barbers. I appreciate that the space had current hairstyle trends displaying on their wall to give customers visuals (in addition to other hairstyles/projects from the owner, GQ). The space presented itself with a professional tone. Because I wasn't too sure what kind of style I wanted, I welcomed the suggestions from Richard. He accepted the challenge of an open canvas and cleaned me up good! I left today very satisfied and look forward to coming in the near future. Thank you, GQ Cuts! read more

I've always come here for my brother never for myself& Ray loves what he does and has great energy, so for my spontaneous idea to get an undercut for the spring time, I decided to make an appointment with Ray. He calmed my nerves and got me all amped up and ready. He was very precise and careful. I never had clippers to my head being as I am a female and he made sure I was calm and wasn't irritated. In a half hour I was done. I love it and proud to say I am now a regular at GQ Cuts. read more

I've been going to a barbershop in La Puente since 2005. After they moved to a different location and jacked up their prices a lot, I needed to find something else. My good friend from college recommended this place. It's a bit hard to find, but once you're on 1st St., it's that blue, two-story building. You have to sign in so everyone gets their haircuts in order (unless you have an appointment with one of the stylists). They just don't start cutting. They ask what you want and even offer ways to make your haircut/style even better. Gabe is the owner and takes care of his customers and employees. And that radiates with all the barbers/stylists. They offer you water or coffee and even go the distance with the small things. I usually get really hot once they put the little cape on me. Gabe offered to turn on the A/C for a little. Great place. And you are probably going to expect to be paying an entire back pocket (or purse) for a haircut, but that's not the case. $13 for a guy's haircut? Can't be beat. Found my new go-to place for haircuts. read more

Wish they took COVID guidelines more seriously especially when long term clients raise their concerns.

I was browsing around yelp for a barber shop close to home when GQ Cuts popped up. I saw they had a good amount of reviews and a lot were from happy customers, so I gave this place a try. Marcy was who helped me out with the cut and she was very knowledgeable with how the cut I wanted should be done. After the cut I was offered a complementary scalp treatment to try out a formula they carry, which felt great. It gave my scalp a nice cool feeling(Literally) after the treatment. I'll be sure to come back for my next cut! read more

GQ Cuts - 8/17/18 - Hair Salons Near Me - La Puente, California

One of the reviews were right. Bull crap service. They have a tactic, they tell you in the sign in sheet that there is someone ahead of you and not help you at all to just shoot the crap with each other. Customer service is crap. They say that they have a lot of clientele but I believe that they only service the people that they know. I gave this place another try because i had a good experience the first time but this time it was really crap. I came in expecting that i would get a haircut within 25 min because i called prior to coming. A hour and 45 min later still waiting. I gave it 1 star because that first time was good when it was only the black guy. He is a good barber and doesn't belong in that craphole of a barbershop. My first time visit actually made me think that, this place would be a good place to go to again and again cause the cut is clean and good. But I guess they proved me wrong. Come on, there were barbers just bull craping with each other and not attending to their customers. Never going to come here again. Their system of customer service and business is not good. I've been to places with worse crappier service but I've never been to a place were i felt crappy and awkwarded with the vide that they had. I hope this review helps. read more

This place runs on the buddy system: you'll get your hair cut if you're the stylists' buddy. Otherwise, you get sent to the end of the line until their friends get their hair done first. I walked in and found two guys waiting for two barbers; I was told it'd be 30-45 minutes. I had 45 minutes, so I sat down. One of the barbers was with a lady and the other was with a boy. Shortly after I sat down, a girl walks in and was told she'd have to wait 20 minutes, which I found odd since I was _just_ told it'd be 45 minutes. As soon as the barber cutting the lady's hair finished, he took the girl and started cutting her hair. This was the first red flag; unless this particular barber works on women _only_ (which I've never heard of, anyone can cut men's hair), there's no reason he should have taken her before the rest of us -- she was the last one to walk in. Anyway, it still hadn't been 45 minutes, and maybe he really only does women's hair. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and waited. Fast-forward an hour; this guy was taking ridiculously long on the next customer. I would have gotten up to leave earlier but I did need a hair cut and the guy in the chair apparently needed a 30-minute shave. I was frustrated but waited patiently. Finally, an hour and a half after I'd first walked in the door, the barber's done with the guy before me. The barber calls my name and, with a sheepish grin, tells me this: "There's this other guy, he's been coming in and out of the store and he's around the corner. I have to cut his hair, so it'll be another 20 minutes." Are you out of your damn mind?! You CANNOT first tell me it'll be 45 minutes, then make me wait twice that long only to tell me to wait 20 minutes more because you have to cut your buddy's hair. That's crap. Don't just make me wait more just because your buddy showed up and you HAVE to cut his hair. And don't grin while you're giving me the shaft, asshole. That just tells me you know you fucked up. Clearly the 5-star reviews are written by the owner's friends. Maybe it's my fault for expecting more from 20-year-olds. Next time I'll go someplace that isn't run by children. read more

I usually go to D2 hair salon, but since that place is kind of pricey, I found GQ Cuts here on Yelp. After reading a few awesome reviews, I decided to go in and give it a go. Its a really small shop. Kind of hard to find. The signs could be bigger. It was pretty clean inside. I did feel a bit awkward when I walked in. When I think "GQ", I think "clean cut"... ehhh not here. Shop owner greeted me, really nice guy. I told him how I like my hair to be cut. He cut my hair, and I think it kind of looked like complete shit. It's pretty safe to say that I will never go in here again. I wouldn't recommend any of friends to come here, UNLESS they wanted to go bald. By the way, their motto is: "We fix $5 hair cuts" Which is totally fine, BUT where should I go to fix a $15 hair cut from GQ. So yeah, I pay $30 for a hair cut somewhere else... but I'm always happy when leaving there. Also, the only reason this place is getting 2 stars as to 1, is because they turned the chair towards the plasma tv. ***Edit, maybe saying that the hair cut was complete shit was a bad choice of words. If you want a cookie cutter faux hawk, then this is the best place for you to go.*** read more

Gabriel, you wrote a lot but said nothing. Dont get defensive, get better. Dont allow your barbers to skip customers in line and dont hire barbers that can't stand proudly next to their work. You see my pics, if your barber is proud of that, hire a better barber. In any case, good luck to ya... youre a nice guy and all, and your shop has a decent clientele base. Theres definitely room for improvement. read more

I've been coming here 6 months now with no problems at all. Every time I come in I ask for something different a different style and each time I came out happy with exactly what I asked for. They also give good feedback on what style I should go for. I used to pay 50$ for the same cut here except it's only 12-15$ plus tip. This shop is kinda tailored to a specific genre and style. Mainly towards hip cool men and women but I've also seen kids and elderly here. So if you're a hip kinda person, I highly recommend this place. read more

A definite hidden gem in La Puente! I may be writing my first review today (I know, sorry guys!) but I've been coming here for the past few months to get my haircut.. After bouncing around for the past couple of years between different barbers, I took a chance on this small but highly rated spot.. Everyone in the shop is so friendly and welcoming when you walk in.. A warm, personal greeting is given to everyone who walks through the door.. After just a couple of visits, they recognize you and treat you like a longtime customer.. Conversations are always nice but never too intrusive while you're getting your haircut and there's always some form of media/entertainment playing in the shop to keep your senses occupied.. Marcy and Gabriel have taken care of me on separate occasions and their work has been nothing short of top quality.. They've definitely made a regular customer out of me and I know I'll be frequenting this place for many years to come.. Just be sure to bring CASH k?? read more

This was definitely not your typical everyday barbershop! The first thing that sets this place apart is the atmosphere. Everyone here is very friendly and welcoming. I was even offered something to drink while I was waiting. Excellent service! Gabe cut my hair and he did such an amazing job! I came in having no clue how I wanted to cut my hair and he guided me to a style that completely worked! He also introduced me to a product that would help remove dry skin from my sideburns, and it worked wonders! The price was also amazing! I'm used to paying around $20 for this type of haircut in West LA, however a basic haircut cost $12! Definitely worth the price and the service! I cannot wait to get another hair cut here! read more

If you want a fresh cut or needed to get your hair did(for you ladies) come to this shop. I came to GQ CUTS as a referral from a friend. As soon as I walked in, the staff greeted me with warm welcomes and made me as comfortable as possible. The decor is very modern with an upscale and comfortable feel, a feat not accomplished by many, i tell ya! They have a nice flat screen to keep you entertained while waiting for your appointment or even during your session. However, the the staff is very interactive with all their clients are far more entertaining than the TV mounted on the wall. I love that this is a "FAMILY" friendly place and that really makes you feel at home. Bonxxx walked me through every step of the process of cutting my hair so that i would feel as comfortable as possible. He gave me great tips on how to maintain my hair with the items i already use on a daily basis. I have been coming to GQ Cuts on and off since 2009. I took a short break when I moved to Texas for a few years! I'm back now and loyal to GQ family. It is more than just a haircut when I come in I know I come to see my family or at least that's how I feel! :-) Gabriel "GQ" is an incredible business owner. I have always felt comfortable walking in and being greeted by not only him but his whole team. He is a friendly, kind and extremely hard working barber and hair stylist. He is also working with the Johnny B hair products and flys all over the country doing hair shows often. It's very inspiring to walk into a shop where I know the owner is always striving for his best in his professional career and to give the best to his employees and clients. I love GQs haircuts! He is great at listening to what I want and making me look amazing! Shout outs to Rich and Marcy Rae who have both done my hair as well here at GQ! I saw Marcy for many years before I left to Texas. We always had fun exploring looks and buzzing my hair all off. She is a great people person and I always felt so comfortable on her chair. When I came back I wasn't able to come the days she was in so I went full time with the amazing Rich! It's been almost 2 years in Rich's chair. It's always a pleasure. From colors to extreme hair styles Rich has gotten time to get to know me as a client and look at my crazy pictures and make me look good for what I want. He's a great communicator and is very passionate about his cuts. I LOVE sitting in his chair! I trust him and the whole team. Gabriel "GQ" has created an atmosphere that isn't just a a place to get a haircut but an experience to enjoy while you get groomed/dolled/freshened up for your week! Yes, the lines can be long. I already know that if I don't set an appointment which I always forget too! That I will be here for a few hours if I'm not the first one in line. Again the atmosphere that is created helps to make the wait better. I always come in with paperwork or a book because I know I didn't make an appointment. All of the guys I believe are open to appointments if you need one ask. Other than that yes there is a wait but that's because this place is the place to go for a haircut with a lot laughs, jokes and a good time! Xoxoxox love you GQ CUTS! read more
