I remember coming to this place since, I don't even remember, 12, maybe? Doesn't matter. My point is: I've seen this place upgrade & change so much--from a white shed, single serving window, and maybe a bench or two (2)--to what it is now. There isn't much to say: it's your typical snow cone place with chips & cheese, and some options of ice cream for the kiddos (who am I kidding, this is mostly for kiddos). I do prefer this place more or less for their add-ins--it tastes better from here for some nostalgic reason. Growing up, I do remember them having horse rides for the littles (don't know if they still do that), and I do appreciate the use of the outdoor space with their selection of plants. Wish I could say more. read more

Great stop for snacks! Kids stopped for mangonadas, fresadas, picadilies, and cucumber cups. They also have fruit cups, nachos, hot dogs, limonadas, and a variety of shaved ice flavors. $10 funnel cakes in plain, strawberry, Oreo, or half and half. They were very friendly and got our order out to us quickly. Outdoor seating is aplenty, both in the sun and in the shade. The breeze in the shade was nice. They do have restrooms, and it's locked by key. You have to ask the attendant for the key. It's cash only, but they have an ATM onsite. Parking lot right next to the place. If close stop by for those tummy delights. read more

DO NOT USE THEIR ATM! Just got scammed $700 from them, called to get info on atm. Lady offered to give me the owner of the atm number to later not giving me the number. Claims they are not associated with the atm but transaction shows "Gorilla shaved ice." SCAMMERS! read more

Second time here and was just at good at the first time! Raspas are yummy!. Prices are good. Not a long wait. Lots of selection. Perfect for cooling down! I tried the corn in the cup. Eh. Not something I'd get again. But to be fair I've never had corn in a cup before and had nothing to compare it to. My friend I was with liked it. read more

Always a good treat place ! Recommend it's affordable also !!me and my family love coming here

Zero stars if I could. I will drive far and pay more to avoid this place. The snow cones, food etc., is great, however the children running the place, is why I will tell everyone to avoid this mess. There's so many places with the same stuff, cheaper, and you don't get patronized by infants. I'm pretty sure they spit in my food. Pretty wild how they're not shut down yet. Maybe inquiring about their inspections would force them to hire better staff? read more

Amazing experience! I got tostilocos, root beer float, and fresanada 10/10 experience!!!

Was in the area and stopped by for a snack. We ordered a lemon aid and a shaved ice. There weren't many people ordering so I'm not sure why it took so long for two items. Had they been quicker I would have left five stars because it was good. read more

Not my favorite snack spot but they have the best manzana loco in town! This is a candied apple cut up with chamoy and Lucas on it. I'm literally drooling as I'm writing this lol! I also tried this chip concoction with seasoned tortilla chip, corn, cheese and jalapeños. it was so good! Cash only! read more

Great spot to beat the heat. Misting fans keep you cool while waiting inlines and 7 windows keep lines short. Many snacks bedsides snow cones were including corn in a cup, hot dogs and even barbecue. Shady areas to sit down and enjoy your treats. read more

The snowcone syrup is watered down. The wait makes no sense because the lines are not very long. I might try again if they make some changes. See my other review for a better spot a couple of blocks away. read more

Now that I live in Austin I cannot wait to go back home (San Antonio) to not only visit and see my parents but go to Gorilla Shaved Ice. This place is amazing! Here's the thing though - you need to know what to order before you get there otherwise you can spend 20-30 minutes just reading all of the signs, specials, and flavors they have here. Luckily for you - I am going to give you a run down on what things mean for those who are not savvy enough or ever had any of the items below. Chango - a change is a "sour" snow cone made with shaved ice, pickle juice, chamoy, and Lucas (red chili powder with salt). Sometimes green apple is added depending on where you go. PickleDilly- a basic snow cone with shaved ice with a chopped dill pickle in the middle of the snowcone with Lucas on top (red chili powder and salt) and sometimes served with Chamoy. You can add any snowcone flavor you would like but I recommend Cherry. Bloody Gummy Bears - gummy bears with chamoy and chili that is usually added to your snowcone or mangonada. Mangonada - mangos sliced and served with chamoy on top and Lucas Now that you have the lingo down go for it! Try it ALL! You will not be disappointed. Oh, and don't forget to take your picture with the Gorilla and the King Kong size snowcone! Aye! SO SESSSSY! If you tag them on Instagram or FB and you're lucky the owner will choose you to get a gift certificate for your next visit. Parking never an issue but be sure to get in line as soon as you arrive. It can get crowded especially during peak times (3pm - 7pm). read more

I got a straight delicious Mangonada today. Check out the pic! Mango was fruity, chili was a nice change of pace in this Mexican treat. The sauce was sweet and tangy. Chilling on the red tables next to the intestate highway. They have a lot of things to try but I can only speak to the level of the mangonada! read more

Gorilla Shaved Ice - A delicious Mangonada in 2019! - Shaved Ice Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

First time here. Sorry but I wasn't impressed. Shave ice tasted watered down. Like the syrup itself was watered down before it was put on the ice . So basically I had unflavored shaved ice. My limeade tastes like the limes were old. Awww. And I was real thirsty! Maybe next time. read more

While I was ordering, this younger man came and handed one of the workers a bag of something illegal, in a little baggie. Not to be judgement but the girl had a heavy scent of weed. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

What a disappointed the Goliad location was this past Saturday Aug 3rd. Disappointed with lack of customer service AND product. The 2 Gorilla girls behind the counter lacked minimal common sense to allow my 3 year old daughter to use the "their" bathroom...they had to call their manager and ask. One of the girls proceeded to say they had a portable bathroom but a customer had knocked it over WEEKS ago??? The Gorilla girl still didn't allow my 3 year old in. Disappointed with a poor product. After i asked for my money back, by a snowball miracle, my less than full 8 cups of shaved ice were "ready". The syrup lacked taste almost as if diluted and the "shaved ice" had more of a texture of small raspa ice, NOT impressed. Gorilla was a complete waste of time and money. WIZARDS on the corner of Hillcrest and Babcock has set the standard so high that Gorilla can't reach in product and customer service. (Interestingly, there is usually always a line at WIZARDS, evident of their excellent ice, food and service.) read more

Gorilla Shaved Ice - Raspa, hot cheetos with cheese and mangoladas - Shaved Ice Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

What I liked most about this spot was that it had a main trailer with plenty of room to sit in tables under tents and benches along the fence with a very spacious grassy area for kids to let out their sugar high. There was also a small truck close by to catch overflow customers. The main front had 3 windows to order from and plenty menus that were straightforward by flavors, sizes and add-ons. I got the Mangodilly and my bf got the Cucumberdilly. They were very filling and super sweet as it should be. $9 for both. No bad!! read more

Since moving to San Antonio, I have been looking for a place to satisfy my raspa cravings, especially since summer has started. After doing some looking around on Yelp, I decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately, I think I came during peak hours (showed up around 7:50pm, leaving at 8:50pm) This place seems to be a neighborhood favorite, so I'm sure it has more peaks during the day. Top 20 flavors are listed when you get in as well as their specialties and prices. Parking is small but a lot of people use the skate land parking on the other side of the fence. I tried tigers blood & my brother had a Piccadilly. His was better than a lot of other places that I've tried in town and will come here again to get my own :) Girls taking orders and making treats had smiles the whole time and call you when your order is ready. Overall it has a very neighborhood vibe and flavors were on point. Definitely a place worth a try! read more

Gorilla Shaved Ice - 3 windows to order from - Shaved Ice Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

We came to this place late Saturday night. We were craving raspas, and this place was the only one open at about 9/10pm. The parking situation is kind of weird, you're basically parking on the grass part of a highway. I'm not sure how to explain it. They take cash only, but there's an atm right next to the line. The prices are not too bad. 2.75 for a Large raspa. The mangonadas were so good! It was full of chamoy and lucas, just the way I like them. There was a good sitting space and even had some picnic tables inside an enclosed area. During the night time, they probably should add a bit more lighting though. I definitely want to come back for more mangonadas! read more

Don't waste your time going here! VERY BAD SERVICE & then the price is NOT WORTH THE AMOUNT they give you. We ordered medium sized & instead they put an 8 ounce clear cup in a larger white cup. A total RIP OFF!! They also didn't put any syrup on some of the shaved ice we ordered & when they did the syrup tasted very watered down. read more

Horrible service, the shaved ice and mangonada sizes are different and there are no signs showing sizes, the customer service is trash, the number to call management don't work, or they never answer, I've been here a couple times and will never come back read more

I would have to say that Gorilla has a better mangonada than Wizard up the street. I'd even go as far to say as they're one of the best. I still have to try the mangonadas from Big Daddy's, Snowcone Addiction and many other shaved ice places in town before making a final judgement though. As far as the piccadilly I give Gorilla's mad props. You have an entire smorgasboard of flavor selections to choose from. Others won't give you many choices. I ordered grape instead of cherry but it had a lot of pickles in it but little shaved ice. I guess some of the shaved ice had already melted. So I wouldn't recommend getting the piccadilly unless you don't mind a lot of pickles and little shaved ice in it. Now if you like pickle juice instead of pickles mixed with with chamoy and chili powder then get their chango. I took a few bites when I ordered a chango but didn't like it so I threw it in the garbage. Sour mixed with spicy just don't cut it with me. Gorilla's prices are cheap and there's 3 windows to order from. There are no crowds or long lines and the girls are friendly and won't try to upsell you anything. The only minor bummer about Gorilla are the bees flying around the picnic tables. I was playing a game of musical chairs as I was trying to avoid them. read more

So I tried this place and it was wonderful it's been a little line once or twice but there services was fast and accuracy was right on point. Never did I have to wait longer then 5 mins. Ok this place is definitely a gem! I've recently become a huge fan of Mangonadas and theirs is so good it's addicting! I have taken several people here to try them and every single one of them has gone back within days to get another. The Frito pies and hot dogs are also tasty and a good value for your money. The employees are also very nice and provide quick service. There's tons of options to taste... Try it out, you won't regret it ! read more

My family and I have been here several times. I would say about 5 of the times we went we tried to order the candy apples and we were always told they don't have any. Even right after they advertise it on facebook. So why advertise when you don't have any? Or make enough to meet demands if your employees say "they run out quick". So they advertise on Facebook and my husband comments saying every time we go they don't have any, another lady said the same thing. They blocked my husband, which is ridiculous because a good business keeps all comments and good or bad reviews. This is not a good business if you have to delete and block people just because you don't want to hear the TRUTH. Fyi "the best candy apples" is just simple candy apples wrapped in chamoy paste and drenched in liquid chamoy. Anyone can make them. Definitely lost our business for good. Seems like they only advertise on Facebook the apples to get people in and once they go they don't have them. read more

Bought fruit cup, tasted funny and smelled like fabuloso. Returned, got money back, but will not eat here again.

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. Nacho chips and hot Cheeto chips were stale. & There corn in the cup sucked so bad!!! I would definitely pay the extra for "The Chill Zone" over this! SUCKS!!!!! HOT DOG looked like pink mystery meat but was told it was "beef" so disgusting! read more

I wouldn't eat here. It was our first time and our last. The setup it nice but I got sick from eating corn in a cup.

Very rude at the window! Girl misunderstood me so then she gave me a very bad attitude!!

This was my first time ever going to Gorilla shaved ice & I really wanted to like this place. I went to this place with high expectations based off all the great reviews. I took my 4 kids & sister for a late night (9:30) treat. The atmosphere is nice & clean. They have several benches & picnic tables to sit at. For a Saturday I was impressed with the lines, they weren't long. The employee that took our order was nice, but had poor eye contact & kinda rushed us. I ordered 5 small raspas & a Piccadilly, which came out to about $10. The price was very fair considering what we bought. Now my problem came with the actual raspas, they tasted horrible. The ice had a really weird taste that I can't explain. Sadly, no one was able to finish their raspas. My sister didn't even like her Piccadilly. We all ended up throwing it away. This was my first and last time coming here. I definitely wouldn't recommend coming here. read more
