The staff at Gordon's is super easy to work with. .they did a miracle job and has us looking amazing at my sons wedding. They even found the time to do a few last minute fixes and make a vest for my youngest son. I highly recommend Gordon's for your special occasion needs!! read more

Great service from the ladies who work there! They were super knowledgeable, friendly, and able to size and outfit everyone quickly. The in house seamstress had us in an out in about 30 minutes. Make sure to check out their resale section!! I was able to find some fun vintage shirts, pants, and tuxedo shirt for super reasonable. read more

Since the new management took over, the store is updated, the options are incredible, and the service is top notch. Hubs and I originally came here in December, 2012 to look at suits for our June 1st, 2013 wedding that was being held at Hotel Julien in Dubuque; located right across the street from Gordon's. We thought Gordon's would be extremely convenient for the guys in the bridal party. Walking through the front door to Gordon's Toggery was like taking a step back in time. Holy moly. Horribly dated, dusty and there's about 8 ft. in which you can move around. Weird. No one works at the front counter, so the front of the store is empty until someone walks out from behind their display wall to help you. An even bigger red flag was when we realized there were only 3 suit coats on the sales floor to look at. They had a case of bow ties, pocket squares and shoes, but how is customer supposed to decide what suit/tux they want to rent if there's NOTHING to look at (except for posters). Bizarre. I'm still asking myself how they keep the doors to this place open. Originally we were searching for a gray suit; no particular fit. We asked the very sweet woman working about trying on a gray coat and pants (she didn't really offer, so we asked). She pointed to one of the (infamous) posters on their wall and said, "this is what it looks like." Fine. Okay. Bring it out. She brought out the suit coat only (there are no dressing rooms, so I'm not sure how anyone tries on pants) and fitted my husband for the coat. Measurements were taken for pants, but he never physically tried on the pair that matched the coat. Again, bizarre. We left giving the sales woman our wedding date and the names of the people in our bridal party. Fast forward to spring of 2013 when we were finalizing details: We returned to Dubuque and Gordon's Toggery so that my father and brother could be fitted for suits. The same sweet woman was working, but there was also an extremely grumpy and unfriendly woman who came out to help size the guys. We should have walked right out then. At this point another group came in for prom wear and there is simply zero room for more than 4 people in Gordon's. We asked the rude employee about 'slim-fit' suits and she snapped back at us explaining that all of the suits they carry are 'athletic-fit.' Cripes. We should have asked about this to begin with, but I guess it didn't occur to us to do so. All of the guys in the bridal party were thin, so boxy 'athletic-fit' suits weren't going to work for the 'look' we had envisioned. "Rude" woman had obviously been asked the 'slim-fit' question before, which explained her snippy attitude. Dad and Bro were swimming in the suit coats and my Mom was having a panic attack (based on the appearance of the store, lack of variety and horrible service). We all gave each other that look that says, 'we need to run the hell out of here and go somewhere else,' but we waited for the fittings to be over. Why would we want to deal with this unfriendly woman again on pick-up day, or if we had problems (like the 1st Yelp reviewer stated)? Like I explained, the decision to cancel our order was made before leaving the store that afternoon, but we didn't cancel our order until a week later and after we visited Milroy's (see my Milroy's review. They were simply amazing to work with and had a great selection of suits, current trends and an AWESOME staff). I gave hubs the duty of cancelling the large order (would have been 12 suits total). The gentleman on the phone asked us why we were cancelling (guess he cared a little) and my husband explained that it was because of the extremely rude woman working on the day we visited. The man (owner maybe?) said he 'understood!' We cancelled not only because of the unfriendly woman, but because the selection and service was a million times better down the road at Milroy's. Milroy's wasn't anymore expensive than Gordon's either. Gordon's Toggery may be conveniently located, but don't settle on a suit from them. Explore your options. read more

They were extremely helpful in selecting styles based on wedding theme and colors. The groomsmen were from out of town so they were able to get fitted other places and simply call in their measurements. They swapped a couple groomsmen out the night before our wedding into jackets that fit better. They also gave the groom two different tuxes so that he could decide the morning of the wedding. They were extremely patient with me when I called multiple times to make changes to the attire. The ladies are amazing! And they got me a velvet suit for my bridesman to match the velvet bridesmaid dresses!!!! Since they stock everything I didn't have to stress about tuxes arriving in-time. This was a big concern because COVID caused many of my friends wedding parties to not get suits in-time for their weddings. Finally, you simply cannot beat the pricing. read more

My father got a defective tuxedo for my wedding from this place. The pants had a broken clasp and he was uncomfortable through the entire wedding and reception. They saw that it was defective and offered him 7 dollars for his trouble. Then he asked if that was the best they could do. Then they said they would send him 20 dollars.they said the jacket was fine and that's the most expensive part of the rental Really? Just be aware this is how they brush off errors with their products. read more

My son and I rented tuxes from Gordon's Toggery for my daughter's wedding. We do not live in Dubuque and needed to send out measurements over eMail. When we got there we had everything ready for us and the woman working there took the time to make sure everything fitted correctly. We did need to change out some items as the measurements were a bit off. But the woman was able to do the tailoring while we waited. The quality of the tuxes and accessories were top notch. I am glad my daughter and her now husband sought out Gordon's Toggery. read more

I was quite pleased with the service and the quality of the tux that I received for my brother's wedding. They took the time to make sure my tux fit correctly and were able to make last minute adjustments to the tux in order to make sure the pants came down close to my shoes. (The shoes weren't all that's comfortable but I think that's because the shoes were a 1/2 size too small for me and I didn't think to ask for larger shoes while I was there). The staff took the time to make sure the tuxes fitted well for my brother and the others in the wedding party and were able to take care of all of us guys. If I ever do get married and the wedding is here in the Dubuque area I would certainly consider Gordon's for tuxes. I would say maybe enlarging the up front waiting area a bit and providing some additional seating would be a good idea, they only have a few seats and if it's busy you can be standing a while. read more
