I wouldn't recommend staying the night but I would recommend a reservation for dinner here just to have the experience. The negative: I felt like the price wasn't worth the stay. The pool was not open. The salon and spa were not operating during our stay either. These were some things I was looking forward to. I made the mistake of assuming and not asking because they are featured amenities when booking the hotel. There were also a few little things amiss. For example: trash behind the bed, the handle bar for the shower bar was missing a gasket and kept falling, the trash can in the bathroom was broken, the room was really hot (they did have a fan). Just a lot of small things that add up. The positive: The breakfast, dessert, and drinks we had here were delicious! The bar is pretty well stocked. I have a dairy allergy and my waiter and the cook took care to make sure there were no cross contamination's. The area around the mansion is gorgeous. This is a great place to take some fun pictures! Overall we did enjoy our stay. The staff was lovely. They do all leave for the night which is something to note. The place just needs more love and care.

Our room was charming, the bed incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was one of the nicest we had during our whole 3 week trip to the UK. Breakfast was delicious as well! The interior of the mansion is beautiful, but clearly is in need of some care. For example, we noticed an incredibly large rip in the felt on the pool table, there were a few spots where we noticed wear and tear on the walls, and our bedspread had a few spots where either someone burned it or it just wore through. We chose not to have dinner at the mansion because even though the menu at the restaurant looked amazing, it was VERY expensive. I'm very happy we chose to stay at the Mansion, and hope to visit again - it just needs a tiny facelift to be perfect!

The resturant downstairs had a large selection of meals available. I recommend the steak. The portions are excellent and are served by pleasant and attentive staff. After dinner, we headed through to the adjoining bar for a few drinks (I'll admit I had one too many). I was pleased to see a good selection of local whiskeys, very pleased (haha), which were served in 35ml nips. There was also a large selection of other drinks, for those who don't drink whiskey, like lager, cider and ales. The bar staff were friendly and talkative, as were the locals. The Maître d' told us they were booked until 9pm (a good omen) but she would try to fit us in. While waiting we sampled their extensive selection of fine scotch. The bar staff was friendly and helpful. Once seated, the restaurant service was warm, and food was served promptly. All was good to excellent: well prepared and presented, although the meats tended to be over cooked. Desert was well worth the gluttony.

Beautiful large main building housing the restaurant, sitting room and perhaps guest rooms. Beyond that are cottages and our 4-room (all small) apartment called The Writer's Room. We walked from the main house through a beautiful English country garden to get there. Stunning, even in September w grasses, blooming plants and pebble paths. Just beyond that is an orchard of fruit trees..we picked an apple plus fresh apples and plums were in a bowl in our room. The four rooms included a small bathroom w shower (sorry, no bath), a large writers room that included a desk, two sitting chairs and a fireplace, and a small kitchen that led into the bedroom. Towels were plush and large. The space was cozy with beautiful wooden beams across each one of the rooms. And wait, for the best part. From our greeting at the front door to all of the servers at the restaurant, all of the hotel staff were young, sprightly and extremely personable. We did not pre-book our restaurant reservations, but we probably should have. The restaurant was definitely a destination restaurant. We had options of either two or three course à la cart menu or a 7-course surprise menu. We opted for the à la cart and it was truly wonderful. The plating and food were Michelin quality but at a slightly lesser price point. Our only disappointment was that we only booked this for night and that we had to depart at 6 AM for a very early flight. Next time we will stay for at least two nights. Kudos to management and the staff.

The maintenance guy came over "to help us get it sorted"... another words - turn it on. Ha! Big puffy down blankets kept us warm, it's cold at night here (June). Big hotel with rooms to rent on the property. They had play areas, kids video and play areas too. Pool had really weird hours. Apparently it was disinfected every few hours or some such nonsense AND you had to make an appointment for available times (in mid-day). I think that would have been fun but didn't use it. An area outside with growling moving Dino's... large enough to be fun for kids... a surprise for us! We loved the extensive trail system and the ruins of a local castle on a tiny island in the lake. Trails are well marked. People were nice, staff was helpful. Area was pretty and quiet. Centrally located. Great transit system; we made appointments to see local attractions via trains / bus - gotta get the timing right and pay ahead. Note: there are stiff fines for cars traveling inside Edinburgh and London- check on this before you drive!

We stayed in one of the A-frame cabins on the property. It was about a ten minute walk to the main hotel building, which we were okay with as there were families with children running all around the main hotel building. The cabins were perfect for four of us who wanted to sleep, read and catch up with each other. Cabins are well laid out and nicely furnished. The Hilton Coylumbridge is outside of Aviemore by a little less than a mile. That meant any meals with alcohol in Aviemore meant one of us had to be a designated driver. We did take advantage of the on-site restaurant our last night, so all four of us were able to eat, drink and be merry. We will be back.

For entrees we had the steak, bolognese, venison, burger and steak pie. Then several had the brownie and sticky toffee pudding. I have to say that we'd been having sticky toffee pudding everywhere we've been and this was, by far, the best we've had. I didn't get pictures of the desserts because they were eaten so quickly. The scent of older times - sublime…read more Quietly nestled in the idyllic countryside about 15 minutes outside of Inverurie, the manor house was built in 1480. It is now a small hotel and restaurant. So quite, so green, so gentile. What a pleasant meal and evening with good friends. Its official: I love Scotland.
