Gordie's is my favorite bar ever.
It's a tiny place with maybe a dozen bar stools, several TVs, some video poker machines and a jukebox. Depending upon the time of year, it will be decorated according to the season: on our last visit, the Fourth of July. Strings of lights will be on the ceiling in all seasons, and I would hate to have to pay that electric bill!
You can get a glass (8 ounces?) of Miller High Life or Pabst for $1 (as of 2019) or a bottle of New Glarus for $3. Your money will go far!
Bartenders are great, full of humor and old Milwaukee/St Francis character, as are the customers. It could be dead one minute and full of animated people within 5 minutes (because it's so small)... you never know! It's a very social place: other than the holiday decorations, there are zero gimmicks here. It's everyday, yet unique, a labor of love and good cheer.
