BYO pizza

I heard this place had "The Best Pizza in Jesup" so I obviously had to try it out. I stopped in on a late Sunday afternoon and LITERALLY no one was there. I usually take this as a bad sign, but I'm glad I went ahead and ordered a small pie to go. I opted for a small 10" which would've been big enough for two meals. I chose to eat it for dinner as well as second dinner, a favorite meal of mine! They were generous with cheese and toppings. The crust was thick and the whole pie did have a "gooey" feel to it, but in the best way! I couldn't help but go for a slice on the way home and made a bit of a mess. Worth it! Though I didn't eat there, the inside of the restaurant was decorated very colorfully and wacky- probably a fun place for the kids! If I'm back in Jesup, I'll definitely return. I do wish they offered slices, though!

Gooey's is a MUST STOP every single time we visit from California! Our go to is the chicken bacon pizza and piggy sticks.

Expensive as hell though. Order something else if your kids want pizza...they won't appreciate Gooeys.

My wife & I ate every single item on our plates. This place is TO DIE for. They had an all male…read moreserving team which we both thought was really interesting & they were all wonderful. It was also really interesting how you didn't have one singular server, but instead, they all rotated and checked on you continuously. It was not traditional, but it worked very well. Maybe other restaurants should take note lol! Food was so incredibly fresh, pasta was hot. It was amazing. The only negative about the food is that they don't make their bread or desserts. It was shipped in from a central factory (and you could tell compared to how fresh everything else was). I also wish they had a fountain beverage station. Every drink you'd need to get was in a bottle in a big coke cooler. This place is definitely very small (I think they would benefit from making their shelving areas where they sell their pasta, smaller, and putting in more tables instead). You could also tell there wasn't enough room in the back for the employees because I was waiting in line for the restroom and had to move multiple times because the servers come in and out of there. There's only one little tiny restroom in the back corner. It was also really cool how you could see everything being made in the back. There was a whole factory behind a glass window where they were making the pasta fresh. It was amazing!! The building needs a facelift but everything else was AMAZING!!

One of my favorite restaurants on the island! Excellent and very tasty food and drink options…read more Always a couple of excellent vegetarian or gluten free options. Cocktails are beautifully presented, esp recommend the lemon drop martini. It's in a converted Ponderosa Steak House location so that's a little weird, but they've upgraded it as well as possible. Store on left side of cafe also has nice gift options and outstanding choices of flavored olive oils and vinegars.

Tried Golden Isles Olive Oil on a Tuesday as my wife saw an online Tuesday wine tasting $5 cover…read moreand made a reservation on Open Table. We sat at the bar but learned the Tuesday special was a flight of three bartender choice wines 2 oz pours for $15. Evidently the Wine tasting thing was not current. We've seen many restaurants don't update their web site so it's always a gamble when you show up. Not sure if it was an open table thing or the restaurant. Either way we enjoy wine so my wife ordered a red flight and I ordered a $6 happy hour Italian Pinot Noir. The Pinot was fine and decent pour and my wife sampled the flight. One of the wines was a little off and we both thought it may have soured. She mentioned it to the bartender and he shrugged it off and said it wasn't an old bottle. Mentioned it again and no big deal. Might have been nice to at least offer something else. I'd recommend ordering a glass of what you like rather than waste the $15. For dinner I wanted to try the seared pork ribeye but they were out of stock so I settled for the short rib sandwich on ciabatta bread. My wife ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which she enjoyed and thought was fine. The short rib sandwich was tasty enough but the bread was soft like it came out of a plastic bag. I was hoping for a better quality bread which is important for a sandwich. It wasn't something I would order again. Overall it's a really quaint place with isles of olive oil and items to purchase but the experience was a 2.0 and the food average 3.0 at best. I really expected a bit more especially from the look and feel of the place. Not sure I could get around to wanting to go back to try anything else on the menu. Bartender was nice but overall just not a good experience after a long day of work. I feel bad to leave an unsatisfactory score but I upped my 2.0 to 3.0 as ratings are important and it's probably at least a 3.0.

We played a lot of outdoor activities - it was a hot day and not too crowded. Sadly Poppell was a no go for the 2020 pumpkin season, but we still took advantage of them for Christmas trees! We got a tree and a wreath! Trees come in varying sizes. They have different colored tags to denote how tall the tree is. Their wreaths come in different sizes too! One thing that really stood out was that they were very safety conscious. You could tell that safety is their first priority. The staff were very courteous and it seemed like there was a staff member everywhere you turned. The only reason I didn't give our visit 5 stars was because the "pumpkin patch" was very disappointing. We had driven 1.5hr to get here with the main purpose of wanting our kids to have the experience of a hayride to an actual pumpkin patch. Instead, we waited 45min in line for the hayride that ended at a grass field (not pumpkin patch) with only small pumpkins (that were not big enough to carve). They did have full size pumpkins of various sizes and price points in the main event area back at the farm entrance, but we were expecting a place where pumpkins could be picked off the vine. For this reason, I'm not sure we'd return but I do want all the other great aspects noted because they were so well done.
