I thought inside was clean and not too loud in there! The spinach and artichoke dip was banging!! The drink was too sweet but drinkable. The steak was a New York strip, cooked perfectly medium! Came with a garlic butter sauce on top. I liked the pizza and was well done like I asked. The ranch had a great flavor. The side salad was eh. Once again I'm disappointed in the Strand Bistro. This is the second time service has been lousy and we come often. The last time we were here we never saw a waitress after drinks were ordered. Finally just left! Never got silverware or napkins tonight until done with Bruschetta and it's messy. Food finally came. Pizza was very doughy and not cooked well at all. I'm traveling through Georgia looking to purchase my retirement home and prefer something a little more rural.... but imagine my surprise when I checked in to my hotel on Sunday night and there was nothing but waffle house, Popeyes chicken, and dairy queen available. I was tired and wanted something healthy. I may do the first couple of nights in my hotel whipping stuff up with the microwave and then tonight I stumbled into the Strand bistro in chophouse have to know best meals I've had in a long time. I tried the grilled salmon which was cooked perfectly and moist as well as flavorful, it comes with a side of white rice which I'm not a huge fan of and then you get two more sides so I ordered the green beans and the loaded mashed potatoes. The green beans were pretty darn good but I'm trying to eat healthier so just had a few of the deep-fried beans. They were crispy fresh and delicious and came with a nice dipping sauce. I can't decide if I like the salmon or the loaded mashed potatoes better but they were both fantastic, with a corona beer Emily entrée my dinner came to a total of $30 with tip and I generally tip pretty generously When I get great service and delicious food like I did tonight. The rest of their menu looks really great as well and we have everything from pizzas and calzones as well as kids meals two steaks, burgers and other handheld items. The staff was friendly and the establishment was what I would consider to be upscale pub. Overall, the 4.5 out of five points. The only reason I marked him down half a point is that it would be nice to have a different choice other than plain white rice and I didn't realize that the green beans were breaded and deep-fried. What a pleasant surprise. In town to visit family 9 o'clock at night and we are wanting nothing more than something good to eat and ice cold beer or a margarita would do. They had a live band and the place was packed on a Friday night. We opted to sit outside cute downtown area music was perfect and service by Brooke was stellar. She gave great recommendations on the menu and we opted to go for pizza. I told her that I'm very picky about my pizza and she said she promised she would have Chris in the kitchen make the best pizza we ever had. Well, he did not let us down, the pizza was amazing. Good food, very interesting building. This restaurant is connected to an "old" movie theater, and it looks like you can still watch a movie. To get to the bathrooms, you have to walk through the theater area. I was recommended the Philly Cheese Steak, and it was really good. The beef was done well, and the cheese melted beautifully. I was asked if I wanted onions and peppers, and I said yes ... but I didn't read the description on the menu. The peppers were banana peppers, instead of the "normal" bell peppers of varying color. This added to the sandwich (I love banana peppers), but was totally unexpected to not have bell peppers. Additionally, they were not grilled as the menu says. They weren't even sautéed like the onions. There were very few onions, which was a little sad to me. The beer battered fries were really good. I was also recommended the rosemary aioli, which I did not prefer. :) Overall, I enjoyed the sandwich. Just be prepared to not eat a "traditional" Philly Cheese Steak. This restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. The service is not outstanding. This is the kind of place to drop so if your food and then you don't see the girl again until it's time to pay. I ordered chili cheese fries and chicken wings. The chicken wings were really good with some kind of a spicy sweet sauce on them. The chili cheese fries however were mostly soggy fries with a tablespoon of chili on top. The chili actually tasted good. But remember the server was nowhere to be found so I couldn't ask her to spare a little more to make it right. In the end I left the restaurant irritated and not wanting to come back. read more

The ambiance is great. The food has gone down hill as of late. My wife's Margareta pizza did not have fresh Basel on it. Was not any better than wallmart frozen dollar stuff. I had mac and cheese simple and hard to mess up yet they put out a box mix that tasted like cheese grit that they did not put enough milk in. I have mixes at home that are better out of a microwave. Went here for the first time just looking for good pizza. They had a nice crowd but we was seated immediately in a bistro room. Which was great because we could still enjoy the live band and have a conversation. Service was crazy slow to the point my husband had to go ask for our food after more than 30 minutes waiting. When it finally arrived of course it was cold. The pizza was very good but would have been better hot. My son got the Salmon and enjoyed that also minus one of his sides. This afternoon me and 13 of my family members went to see Wicked. I ordered a few items from the menu while there. One of those was a pineapple slush as my oldest son always likes pineapple stuff. When they bring our concessions out they bring my son a strawberry slush. They said "I'm sorry but we're out of pineapple." No problem, I then asked that they just give me a refund because he wanted a pineapple slush. The girl says "Oh I'm sorry but we don't give any kind of refunds." My reply is simply, "but this isn't what I ordered so I shouldn't have to pay for it and you take it back, I won't keep it." She still can't offer any refund. Ok.... I come up with another solution-- my son said he'd like chicken Alfredo. So I tell the girl "Why don't you just apply that $6 towards the Alfredo and I'll give you another $4 and we'll just get him the chicken alfredo instead." I'm then told that the food and drinks are charged separately and they can't do this either. All the time I'm trying not to say this--- "That is not my problem." Somehow this still ended up being my problem tonight as we were forced to keep the slush we did NOT order or simply receive nothing at all for a $6 charge that I paid. Staff members and the manager both came out to tell me the same things (meanwhile this is interrupting my viewing of Wicked). I was irritated but didn't take it out on the staff there as they are only doing what they were instructed to do. However and unfortunately, this owner of this business has not given his/her employees any other resources to navigate simple issues (like this) that may arise. A "manager" who can't offer a refund or comp. something isn't a manager at all. That's simply an employee with a different name tag. I think this owner doesn't trust his employees further than he can spit (otherwise they'd have some abilities to provide refunds and similar). He/she must think the manager/staff is incompetent and/or will steal. I hate that something so simple (which I had 2 different solutions for) became a problem for me today. I hope this review helps to make The Historic Strand realize they have a problem (or a few) themselves. I have no plans to attend this establishment again as simple resolutions can't be made on these premises. My advice: proceed with caution and at your own monetary risk -- as I felt completely swindled today. read more

We are fond of the Bistro but haven't been in a while. Calzone was good. My Alfredo with chicken and broccoli was bland at best. Cheesecake was delicious! What ruined our meal was the wait staff sweeping around our table while we ate! When I eat at the HH this is expected as they aren't trained differently (I guess) but when you're paying SO MUCH to eat, I would expect better. read more

well, this was my 2nd time ordering online from this restaurant. I'm disappointed . Frist time, I order a Caesar salad with chicken and the lettuce had brown edges. It was tasteless and just not a real caesar salad. Plus, for the price, it was on the small size. My husband had the stromboli which was ok he said. but for what we spent over $30 it wasn't enough food for the price. Figure I give them another try. Well, this wasn't any better. I ordered the salad with grilled chicken and egg and balsamic vinegar . AGAIN!! my lettuce had brown edges, looked old, 2 small pieces of chicken that didn't look grilled and it was tasteless as well as the dressing and I order mozzarella sticks, got 5 small sticks one was empty. It was ok, Marinara sauce was good. but not worth I think it was 7 or 8 dollars. My husband had the meatball hero with fries. Seriously it was like half a sub , it was small and again he said it was ok. And again, we paid over $30 and was still not full. You do have a cute place. read more
