I walked into Thai Spices and Sushi like I was about to witness a culinary magic trick go horribly…read morewrong. Thai. Sushi. Ramen. Pho. In Waycross. That's not a menu, that's a United Nations meeting. I was fully expecting confusion, chaos, and at least one bad life decision. I was wrong. This place is the real deal. Let's start with the sushi. I ordered the Monster Roll, and honestly, I'd order it again tomorrow without hesitation. Fresh, creative, and actually balanced. Not one of those rolls drowning in sauce trying to cover up a bad situation. This one shows up, does its job, and leaves you thinking about it later. Then came the Chicken Panang Curry. First bite? Lights out. Like, pause mid-conversation and reevaluate your expectations kind of good. Rich, creamy, just the right kick. Now, did every bite hit that same peak? Not quite. It settled into just "really, really good" instead of "life-changing," which is still a win. If I had one gripe, the chicken leaned a little overcooked. But the vegetables were perfect and that sauce absolutely carried the dish. Now the atmosphere... this is where things take a turn. It feels like a sports bar that decided one day it wanted to travel the world. TVs going, energy up, and somehow you're sitting there eating curry and sushi like this is completely normal. It shouldn't work. But it does. And shoutout to my server, Woody. At least that's what the receipt says, and I'm rolling with it. She was fun, efficient, and locked in the whole time. I came in expecting a mess. I left planning my next order. Five stars.

Consistently some of the better Thai in the area. The spring rolls are tasty and nice sized. I…read morelike the hoisin sauce but it also comes with a honey mustard dipping sauce which is unique. These rolls were one of my favorite parts of my whole meal. I would order them every single time. I appreciate the freshness of each of the dishes. The vegetables are just over el dente. So much flavor in every single bite! The chicken larb was well seasoned. It came out on lettuce instead of the menu mentioned cabbage but it made it more of a salad. I didn't mind because it tasted wonderful. The spice level here is to be respected. I went with a 3 on all of my dishes and it was plenty hot. The server also brought us a spice tray which had 3 different items to choose from. I added some of the Thai chili sauce with fish oil. Deep and funky it adds another layer to an already delicious dish. Service was friendly. This place gets busy and food sometimes comes out a little slow. Be patient and respect the process. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I got the drunken noodles and added spice with the spice rack provided upon request. My wife got the chicken fried rice. Hers came out first, so when mine came out I forgot to take the picture. I have eaten at hundreds of Asian restaurants in my life. This was absolutely the worst- bar none…read more Here is the recipe: steam vegetables for a few minutes until they are not steamed at all. Drop them in a can of coconut milk. Pair it with the cheapest quality of rice on the market (Uncle Ben?). Call it Panang curry. I had to throw it away, and for me to throw away food it must be absolutely stomach-turning. The young lady at the register had a slight accent, and in order to do pleasant small talk I asked her where she was from, having an accent myself. I thought we may be from the same country. She said she could not reveal private information. That was absolutely weird, also considering that customers receipts, including their signatures and how much they tipped, are pasted by the register. An absolute and far more serious violation of customers' privacy. But, if we stick to the food only, it's an absolutely must avoid. Minus 10 stars. That bad and worse.

The food came out piping hot and fresh. Both dishes were tasty and reasonably nice portions. The Pad See Ew did not have a lot of pork, however it was fresh and good flavor. I ordered medium spicy and it came out perfect. The Basil ground pork dish had a lot of green beans and not much of the basil flavor I expected but it was fresh and flavorful. I would probably hold the green beans next time but that's my preference. Overall, everything was very good and hit the spot. I would like to try some other dishes next visit. I would give it a strong 4.2 if I could rate in between 4 and 5. Also note our service was excellent and the server made numerous visits to check on us. Thanks

Definitely picked a bad time to try this place but nonetheless we stopped in during spring break…read more It was crowded, but we were able to get seated at a small table. Not sure the staffing was prepared for a busier than usual Wednesday evening. The main issue was it took forever to get our food. We ordered a couple drinks and then ordered a Wonton soup, Pad See Ew and a Sashimi combo. Although the restaurant started to thin out following the rush, the Wonton soup came out probably 45 mins into our seating. The soup was hot and tasty enough but a small bowl for $7.50. I considered ordering something else to try but held off since I wasn't sure how long that would take. We then waited again for another 15-20 minutes and actually thought about cutting our losses and just pay for the drinks and soup but just then the Pad See Ew arrived. I asked what happened to the Sashimi Combo and the server went behind the bar and returned immediately with it in his hand. We wondered how long that was sitting there. Either way the Pad See Ew was hot but honestly no spice and extraordinarily sweet. It is usually my favorite Thai dish and I always enjoy it but although not terrible, it was the worst I've had. Again, it was hot and fresh, just way too sweet and no flavor. Definitely not to my liking. I had to ask for chili sauce to give it some flavor. The Sashimi Combo was definitely a winner. Nice 10 piece portion for $22. Fresh and nice thick portions of Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, and chef's choice. I'm not sure I'd return but if you want to give it a chance, start with the Sashimi. I hate to rate this place so low but it was definitely a negative experience not sure I could shake. A nice evening out left me disappointed and my wife angry at me for complaining about the long wait and my dislike for the food. The quality restaurants on Saint Simons Island are slim so Yelp range of 5 doesn't exist very often. I'd stick with 3.0 for the food here but my experience was a bust so 2.0 this time.
