Easily accessible via tram, train and with a bus stop right in front of its door, Goodwood Library is a favourite with the locals. Fringed with a green vine arch pathway which leads to its doorstep, it exudes familiarity and a sense of community for all who walk through its door.
My favourite would have to be the Hot Speed reads featuring some of the bestsellers and hot titles just off the press. These books go on loan for a week and they are pretty popular with its library patrons. I've always managed to soak in their bestsellers with much delight, having picked up Emma Donoghue's The Room and my all time favourite The Coffee Shop of Kabul by the creative genius Deborak Rodriguez.
They have a brilliant stock of international literature and CD-Roms here, Vietnamese, Greek, Italian..you'll find them here. Internet facilities are free but you need to book them online or ring the library for a time slot.
School holidays, Easter and Christmas activities are aplenty here, with reading sessions, sing along sessions, and craft themed projects.
Right smack in the library is the toy library which was a favourite with my kids when they were toddlers. With a cheap membership fee, you can take 3 toys home (per kid) and hire play gyms, slides, cubby homes etc for free during birthday parties.
After a visit here, be sure to explore the nearby cafes, bakeries and shops. read more
