My 11 year old and I make Goodwill one of our "do together" outings. Brought Dad along once, and now he's hooked too! Found so many great treasures. A curio cabinet, a cedar chest, even clothes with tags still on them. You never know. We have 3 local stores we visit, all of them we always find something we didn't know we needed. Haha It's become a real family excursion. The Youngs

I want to tell you this Goodwill has the best stuff on the Southside, but I don't want you to get all of the goodies before I do!

I spotted this "outlet" warehouse store behind the regular "retail" store a couple of months ago…read moreand wondered what was different about it. I decided to check it out. Parking is an issue. The store is very popular and there were not enough spaces available. Some vehicles were parked on the interior roadways near the entrance. I had to park at the far end of the warehouse size building. The inside shopping area is less than half of the total square footage of the building you see from the outside. It is about the same footprint inside of their retail stores. The clothing is not on hangers rather laying in large bin type tables. I didn't see any organization to it such as men's vs women's vs children's so I did not browse the clothing. I looked over the furniture and bicycles. The furniture was in pretty poor condition today but the good stuff may have already been bought. There was a very nice cherry sofa table for $15 however it was broken where a drawer was located. The bicycles were dirt cheap and looked good however most were the 16 inch size so I was not able to "test ride" any of them. I also saw a wheelchair for only $7. Granted it was completely manual but for anyone in need of the basics, that was a really good deal. If you are not familiar with shopping at Goodwill, the way to do it is check into the store regularly as the good stuff goes quickly. You can find some decent items for extremely low prices, but you have to keep checking regularly because the good stuff only lasts for a day or so.

I asked if she could honor the 8 pound quote that I was given prior to going to my vehicle to get the debit card. She didn't respond she didn't say anything. She recalibrated the machine and my cart then weighed 9.2 pounds. I was going to get a door handle and a deadbolt. I put the item back in the bens. Goodwill lost four dollars in sales because Of this manager. I hope Angel can provide better customer service in the future. It should be mandatory that the machines are re-calibrated every hour when they do the rotation to avoid this issue.

Rest assured no food goes to waste. What they cannot use, they will pass on to other organizations. They do have guest speakers available if you want to do a food drive for them or inspire others. I try to attend their events like the Souper Bowl... Be prepared, this event is a mad house, but so much fun... Soup stations all around the building, try one, try all and then vote for your favorite. Some soups are also available for purchase. Non-alcoholic drinks are usually provided. So next time you don't know what to do with food, your time or money, consider donating or volunteering for this organization. Well worth it.
