When shopping in the men's section, which isn't very large, I found multiple opportunities to improve thrifting for the customer. Parking was easy. 1. Remove all the empty hangers. 2. Sort by size and type of shirt. 3. I would charge one price for all the T-shirts and skip staple prices on them . 4. Encourage staff to button the top button on dress shirts to reduce the number of shirts ending up on the floor. If you know your brands and prices, you can do quite well here with a little bit of digging. As long as it continues to look kind of junky, it will keep the prices lower, so I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing, right!?

This is a smaller store and organizing is clumsy, but I have found some great stuff. Mac is tops for vintage dishes, decor, books...really anything your grandparents would have, or what you would expect to find at an estate sale, and that remains true for St. Vinny's. Some of my favorite finds: a vintage wool Pendleton button up, malachite dish, framed embroidery, like-new coffee maker, and various rain jackets and muck boots sourced for guests unprepared for pnw weather. I also almost always can find a variety of mason jars here. DVDs are $1 (as compared to Goodwill's $2.99), and they have a very large selection, books too, especially considering their demure size. Prices are stapled to clothing. I don't like it, but I have nabbed several nicer shirts and sweaters for my husband around $5 each, and he sure doesn't care about a staple hole if one occurs. I think clothes can be surprisingly good here, if only because the selection appears so lame and people discount the possibility of finding anything good. There is a bit of furniture, a lot of small kitchen appliances, a great little craft section, even a place for pet supplies. Again, I think it just looks like you won't find anything, so treasures are hidden here because no one hunts for 'em! As a bonus, prices are some of the lowest of our area thrift stores and definitely less than Goodwill.

For under $135, they purchased this used wood dining table with 5 chairs, which perfectly filled our need and left our wallet with some breathing room. Delivery of the dining set was $45 extra and their in-house delivery staff delivered as promised in a timely, safe and professional manner. If you have a truck and helping hands you can save on the delivery fee.

I have been shopping and donating here for years, the past year there is a woman that works there…read morethat has targeted and sternly approaches me and my service dog. The first time she stated in flat directive tone that I could not have my service dog in her carrier in the shopping cart, I have neuropathy in both hands, but she told me to carry her or I would have to leave. Today I brought a rolling pet carrier and my service dog barked one time at kids that were running/playing and screaming, I told a different worker that my service dog probably thinks the kids were distressed. Shannon approached me shortly after, asked if my dog was service dog, and told me "no excessive barking" I tried to explain she had only barked once at kids running and being loud, she said one more time and I would have to leave that barking more than once is excessive barking. I told her I felt targeted by her and I used to be able to shop there in peace without being harassed. Now I have to find another store to donate and shop at because I feel 'patrolled' and targeted by Shannon.

My situation was the latter- I was going to yard sales in Newberg when I came across this place. It is very unassuming from the outside and has limited hours- if you're able to visit though, I recommend it. The prices are very fair, the selection is good and the volunteers are very friendly. It's definitely not as clean or comfortable as say Goodwill, but it's fairly organized and easy to find things. The best selections are in clothing, books, homewares and DVDs. Lots of parking in the area including a dedicated lot. Bit of a warning- during summer it can get very hot in here. I think there is AC but the building doesn't appear to be well insulated. Not a major deal for me, but for people more sensitive to temperature this is a heads up!

The only however I have is the older lady behind the counter has horrible customer service and when I came to donate, she was extremely rude and my sister-in-law heard her talk about me behind my back once I left the room. I know others have complained about her customer service. They should have her in the back room going through items rather than out front. There were five of us, ladies in all, and she was so extremely rude that we did not purchase anything there because we couldn't stand to be in her presence.

I left with a 100+ year old first printing book (that if nothing else, will look adorable on my shelf with its vining floral cover), a handmade peach doily, a See's candy bar (they sell them as a fundraiser, and boy was I pleased to find the dark chocolate nougat!), plus a couple patty pan squash that one of the sweet employees grew herself and was giving away.
