This was an interesting experience for our first time. We got there just after opening and the "resellers" were like full blown vultures snatching everything, but they were at least polite in each other's spaces. A lot of the stuff in the bins is kinda dirty (PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING GLOVES), there were some serious throwbacks to my childhood, and we mostly left with toys for our dog, but it was worth it for the experience (we weren't looking to resell). The employees were helpful and kind, but Margie took the extra time with us at checkout to really give us the rundown of how the system works and we really appreciated that. I visited the Goodwill bins with the intention of finding some cute house decor and clothing. Initially, I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of STUFF! This place was packed with bins, and the workers added new bins every so often. I went around 10am, but the store was already fairly busy, and people definitely crowded the new bins as they came out. If you're visiting the bins for the first time, I would recommend going in with a plan. What type of items do you want? Will you stick with your friends or branch out? Are you going to race to the new bins, or wait for the rush of people to die down and then pick through? I have heard some gross stories about people finding used underwear or other sketchy items in the bins, but I did not experience this. Most of the items were super clean. Some were a little broken (for example, a broken appliance), but nothing absolute trash-worthy was in there. Rating 3 stars because most of the clothing was for children or grandmas, and I wished there had been more cute adult clothing. read more

The place is fine, my one star has to do with the interviewer and the job interview I had at this place. The older lady (don't remember her name, but I honestly couldn't care less) who conducted my interview was incredibly rude. She was high key difficult to talk to, and is the kind of person that feels the need to be super hostile and take the contrarian position. She glared at me, wrote things down like this is a police interrogation-- like this felt like a police interrogation. This woman, you can tell, is miserable, largely in part by the fact she is 60+ working at goodwill while her contemporaries have long since retired from their presumably better paying jobs. Like for crying out loud, I have had interviews for high level positions that were group/panel interviews that were nowhere near as intense as this job interview. I dont know who in their right mind put this lady in charge, nor do i understand who thought it was a good idea to put a lady with the charisma of my right toenail to conduct interviews. Folks, imma be real with you, don't apply at this place. You'll be met with the final boss of someone who never achieved anything with their life, treating a minimum wage job interview like she's interviewing a high level executive position with Lockheed Martin. Wow... this is the Goodwill of Goodwills: a Goodwill Outlet Store. I'm in awe. Sold by the pound, you dig through bins of unsorted junk discarded by strangers. I found a funeral program (RIP Jim) next to a gorgeous high end basket with leather straps next to a broken toy. One step up from dumpster diving, you can find some gems next to literal trash, but at least there are no raccoons. My super cute Pac-Man lamp was $1.62. read more

I'm an elderly woman and he yelled at me for not parking closer so he did not have to carry my items to the trailer. He was rude and disrespectful. I will not donate to Goodwill again. read more

One of the best Goodwill centers in the Portland area! In addition to the tons and tons of clothes and jeans, they have an area that contains a substantial amount of furniture. Not just the small items like an end table or chair, but sometimes a full dining set. Great for people just getting situated in an apartment or home and need a lot of things on the cheap. They also have a decent houseware section. That's my area. I'm always looking for vintage glasses & bar ware, and dishes and serving pieces. Surprisingly, I have found some amazing pieces and have been able to build a full set of several different types of glasses by finding one or two at each Goodwill stores. It's all about the hunt and being patient. Love when it all comes together. Here I found a tall ice tea glass with etched pine cones to complete my set and join the 7 glasses I had already found at other stores. Score!!! read more

Okay guys, this is by far the best Goodwill Bins I have been to! I had only been to the ones in California that mainly have clothes (& are much smaller). I was SO surprised by how many bins there were and also by how organized everything was. $2.19 a lb & even with a bunch of people inside I still scored some treasures! I came here twice on my trip to Portland. Both times were great! No pushing or shoving- just one instance where a man was digging through a bin and hit me with a pile of clothes... I loved how many household goods & toys there were. I'm used to just seeing piles of clothing. Downside is that everything gets mixed up and there's a slight chance of a sharp object ending up in your bin (ouch)! Overall, such a fun experience and I was glad that they changed the bins a few times while I was there. It gave me a good opportunity to find some nice items! A few of the goodies: REI Jacket, Nike Jacket, Vintage The Lion King Simba Plush, and tons of Vintage Clothing! This place will definitely be back on my list for my trip next summer. Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette ⁩ On March 12th at 7:00 p.m. at the Milwaukee store an elderly male employee took it upon himself to approach three young shoppers, all over the age of 18, and tell them they are "dressed like whores and you need to leave the store". I saw the kids when they left the house and they were dressed fine. Irregardless, I was unaware that Goodwill has a dress code and that employees are allowed to discriminate against what people wear. These are young people that are involved in the LGBTQ community and they, regardless of what they're wearing, have a right to shop anywhere they'd like. If Goodwill, or it's employee, had a problem with how these young people were dressed they could approach them in a respectful manner and stated we have a dress code, which they do not, and they would have to adhere to that dress code. However, this elderly male gentleman employee did not do this. He approached the kids in an aggressive manner and insulted them. Goodwill, I am 53 years old, I am not young. This misogynistic and archaic way of thinking should be retired as should this employee. This is not the 1960s, '70s, or even the '80s. Dress shaming, fat shaming, gay shaming, discrimination in general should not be tolerated in any industry. If you do not like the way someone is dressed or you have a problem with somebody there is a mature and polite way to approach another human being. Your employee needs better training. No, he needs to be fired! His personal opinion on somebody's prefer attire is just that an opinion. You cannot refuse service to people who are shopping at a thrift store on your opinion. I searched the internet for a dress code for customers at Goodwill stores. There is a dress code for employees, but not customers. Short of being naked, which is against the law in public, I believe we as women and men can wear whatever we want at your store. According to Oregon law, code 14A.40.030 Indecent Exposure "It is unlawful for any person to expose his or her genitalia while in a public place or place visible from a public place, if the public place is open or available to persons of the opposite sex." Okay, there is some crazy stuff going on at this place. Truth be told, I knew absolutely nothing about Goodwill Bins, no expectations, went with family members who were in the know. There is a system, it's is definitely organized chaos. All these bins, in theory (not 100%) there is a theme to each bin. Bins are in rows and are moved in and out of the warehouse by row. When a row goes out, people line up on either side and wait for the new bins to come in. You don't start looking through a new bin until all the bins for that row have been placed. There may be a secret signal going on here, or perhaps it's just the honor system, but no one jumpstarts the process, everyone waits until all the bins are lined up. $2.19 a pound to start, the more pounds you buy, the price per pound goes down. What's in the bins? Everything. For my first time I bought three strands of light up candy canes that you would put along a walk way, lots and lots of clothes, a rustic metal tool box and a couple of books. All in, $34. I'm going to suggest you wear plastic gloves if you are squeamish because just about everything you touch is not particularly clean. Get a cart, prepare to get down & get dirty and plan on getting an amazing assortment of stuff for fabulous prices. All of the staff that I interacted with with very nice and helpful. read more

This place is pretty legit. Came here with some broke 20 year olds and they found a lot of clothes to buy. They seemed pretty happy with their loot. I went in knowing what to expect. Brought gloves for everyone in my party and we dove right in. I wasn't looking for anything in particular. The place is what you would expect it to be. It's not exactly clean and luxurious. But then again it's a good will. You literally get what you pay for. And if you're lucky you might get more than what you pay for. Absolutely no judgement to anyone who comes here. From broke 20 year olds to families to people who just want a bargain. You'll see them all. Steer clear of the middle area as they roll big bins out every so often. They will yell it out though so you don't get run over. Your best bet is to swarm over to the new bins like everyone else if you don't mind the crowd. read more

I really love re-purposing things and this is a great place to find things to repurpose at terrific prices! The shallow blue bins make it easy to get to the bottom and see all that is in them and they are changed out often! You can spend as much time as you want and have new things to look through every 30 minutes or so. You do have to be careful not to get mowed down by the bins as they are moved in and out and the crazy eager people when new bins are brought in. Wearing my purse and gloves is my standard MO. I went here a couple of times while in Portland, Oregon, USA. Kind of a mixed bag. Basically, this place is a 'warehouse' of where all the things from Goodwill stores go, if unsold. At least that is what I was told. Makes sense, because the clothes/purses etc. have to go somewhere, right? Well, when you go inside, it has a flea market feel. All of the people are standing in front of these blue plastic bins. If you are patient, and bring a music player and bottle of water, you can make it for an hour or maybe an hour and a half. I will say, I did find a $200 USD pair of jeans that fit absolutely perfectly! And, a different pair of jeans retailing at about $98 USD per pair! Also some really fitting women's Levi's! The strange thing is that all of the clothes are piled into the bins atop stuffed animals and towels and purses and other kid's toys or colored pencils etc. It's really bizarre, to be honest! That said, if you can go in with a focus and by yourself you can find some cool stuff! I also got a nice black rain coat with tons of pockets. Zippers and buttons work - fits great! I saw a bunch of Samsonite luggage, too! Actually, some really nice luggage! Downside: RUDE staff! I was trying on shoes and while doing so my back was turned. I turn around and my shoes were not there!? Well, apparently someone (I presume a staff person) put my shoes back in with the shoes in the blue bins! I had a heart attack, at first, because the other shoes were too big! I needed *my* shoes. So, I did find them, but was so annoyed! You'll also be barged into at times by 'staff' persons who scream, 'table' really loudly! If people are there with kids, the kids may be playing with toys near you and be all sugared up! But yeah, if you go, and are in a positive mood that day - may be worth it - I found lots of in-tact, gently used goods, which were mostly clothing items! read more

My co-worker turned me on to this place... At first, it sounded a little sketchy. Digging through bins?? That seemed like a lot of trouble. HOWEVER; it was soo freaking fun, I went back a couple weekends in a row. Note: Come early! Like 10 am. By noon, when I am usually leaving, there are usually no parking spaces or shopping carts available, without a wait. Note: Eat first. There is a lot of shopping to be done and you may be here a few hours. Note: I never saw dressing rooms, so if you plan to try something on, wear form fitting clothes that you can slip the try-on's over. Note: Be prepared for a tiny bit of mayhem. Regular shoppers take this place very seriously and have a way of doing things. They know where to wait for the new bins to come out (in the middle of the store), and stand in an organized line. If you get in their way or "cut" they will let you know - sometimes brusquely. Note: They charge by the pound, so don't be afraid to grab lots of clothing. My cart was overflowing and only came to $35. Note: The middle-to-back of the store on the right (left side is home furnishings) is where the better stuff is, because the bins are constantly being rotated and re-filled. The first row when you walk in has always been picked over by newbies. Note: This is not a good place to bring children. If you do, and yours get out of hand, they will not hesitate to let you know. Besides, children get bored after 20 minutes of shopping and since the workers are constantly refilling the bins, it's hard to break free and get in line to pay; always thinking you may have missed one last "must have item". Note: Glassware & household items cost less because they weigh more, so don't let their weight detour you from buying them. They weigh them at the register, so you can always change your mind if you don't think it's a good deal. Note: Be prepared to become addicted. I walk out with a trunk full of stuff each time I go. This place is amazing! Clothes, shoes, dishes, bags, ect.. are 2-something a pound! I found lots of Columbia, Nike, Adidas, and other quality clothing. It was about the quality of an average thrift store, with tears or stains on some clothing. However, most of the stuff was in great shape. A downside is that it is not sorted. You literally have to toss clothes out of the way to reach the bottom of the bins. Because of this, I'd give myself a couple hours to sort through everything. This also means that if you're looking for something specific, like a certain size of jeans, you might not find it. You'll have more luck with sweater, scarves, and shirts. read more

The vast majority of goods are sold by the pound, much like feed for your farm animals, but instead of hay you're buying feed for your hoarder self. Like any good bulk seller, they really encourage you to buy more poundage! So if you're going with a friend, it might be worthwhile to buy your stuff together so that it weighs more and it will cost less per pound. For example, if you buy 15 lbs worth of stuff on your own, it would cost around $21 (@ $1.39/lb). But if you combined your 15 lbs with your friends 15 lbs of junk, it would cost a total of $27 (@ 0.89/lb), which means your half is only $13 plus some change. 2. Take an allergy pill beforehand if you're a sneezy kind. Depending on the season, you may be sneezy anyway, but an allergy pill will help with all the little itty bitty junk flying through the air as you paw through all that fun stuff. 3. If you are serious about getting down and dirty, bring a snack or eat a good meal beforehand. The notion of eating a snack while inside of the bins may actually make some folks lose their appetite. Well, those folks are weak. I'll break out my granola bar and ingest 120 calories so that I have the energy to dig. If you keep your hands on the wrapper and not touch the granola bar itself, it's totes kosher. Thirdly, a word on the controversial topic of "To Glove or Not To Glove." You'll see some folks with blue latex gloves or yellow dishwashing gloves as they paw through stuff. The problem with gloves is that you can't feel what you're grabbing at, which is also the same reason why people wear gloves because they don't want to feel what they're touching! If you're so scared of some moist piece of fabric on a pile of other questionably items, then maybe you ought not to partake in the bins. Reading these reviews led me to believe that I'd leave this place covered in dog poo, blood, and possibly a body bag if I dared to enter it. But that damn American bred 'I want more for less' greedy and stubborn little voice told me that I needed to woman up! I went prepared with hand sanitizer, household rubber gloves, some tongs, and a taser. Yes, a freakin' taser. I walked into that place ready to knee and send little volts of electricity into anyone who crossed me, while imagining myself as a much younger Sylvestor Stalone in Rambo. This sounds like exaggeration, but I really did think I was going to have to kick all sorts of butt over something not even Goodwill thought fit to be sold in their stores! My first impression upon entering was that the bins looked like those troughs on the farms, and I thought about going back home. But as I started sorting through the bins trying to watch out for dead rodents, I unfortunately found that some of these Yelp reviews had hyped me up a bit too much! No one made any attempts to snatch anything from me, and in fact I had someone give me the matching pair to a boot I was looking for! Yes it smells, a lot of the stuff should not be touched without gloves and there are some strange stains, but what else would you expect from items that people practically handed over for free? I didn't find anything major major, but I did spot a pair of authentic Seven for All Mankind jeans. There were of course people there who did find major things, but it wasn't a shock since they were the serious Ebay re-seller types who came equipped with gadgets straight out of the Terminator franchise. I won't lie. This place scares me a bit.It's really only because of the hardcore-ness of the diggers. People knew exactly where the new merchandise was going even though it changed every time. They all stood there waiting for the employee to wheel out the new meat and they'd all dig in. I felt like I was watching vultures circling and then swooping in for the just left kill. But, honestly, all the random horror stories of someone digging through a pile of clothes only to get their finger cut off with a food processor blade is a complete exaggeration. The rudeness of the employees is also a complete exaggeration. I came for a ton of old big t-shirts to continue with making my rug and I knew this was just the place to do it. I easily found a cart full of newer looking t-shirts to be converted into my art project. When I went up to the check stand, the lady was very helpful and told me that if I just found a few pounds more of stuff it'd actually be cheaper than what I'd be paying for my current cart. Being a fresh and new digger, I was thankful for the advice. I filled up my cart more & took home 3 huge garbage bags full of shirts for less than $25. Not bad for an hour's work! read more

I love Goodwill outlets for the cheap prices. Unfortunately, thrift store prices are on the rise. Goodwill outlets are the exception. If you haven't been to one, what are you waiting for? Here are a few things you should know about goodwill outlets before you go: Everything is thrown into long, blue bins. You will have to dig and search for good finds. You may find things brand new with tags. I found items from Target and designer items brand new, with tags. Most items are sold by the pound. Each goodwill region sets their own prices. For this goodwill, 0-25lbs of clothing and miscellaneous items is about $2.19/lb. over 25lbs is $1.29lb. Glass is $0.69/lb. Books, electronics, appliances, and a few other items are priced individually. Carts may be hard to come by, so get creative. Bring some gloves. Nasty items get mixed in (I wash my items right after). There are vultures! Some people aren't nice. Get used to it. You may get an adrenaline rush! Check items thoroughly as no refunds are allowed. For example, I found a brand new skirt with the Macy's tags still attached. Upon checking it out further, I noticed the security tag was still attached. The blue bins are rotated by staff. When they take a blue bin out, they'll replace it with a new one. Stand there until they bring it out for the best selection of items. This particular location was fun. They only had one cashier with a growing line, however, a new line opened within 5 minutes. **I didn't take pictures because I was too busy shopping. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who needs to furnish a place with a low budget (including dish-wear & wall art), or anyone just looking for a great deal/find. 4 rules and tips when it comes to the bins: - bring gloves, unless you're totally okay with touching other people's underwear, because there's a lot of them in here. - be a little proactive/assertive. Work through the bin, flip things around, act like you know what you're doing and be confident even if you really aren't. This place is FULL of resellers and people that honestly have 0 brains. Walk-in front of carts while they're moving, being in the way, standing in the middle of an isle blocking carts and being generally dumb. Buncha dum dums and coocooheads in here, being pushy and rude - but if you pretend like you're one of them they will leave you be. But forget about personal space, they have never heard of it. You will be shoulder to shoulder with others, personally I don't like being that close with other people so I wait a bit and then find space later when they start to die down. The best stuff is in the fresh bins though, but you don't need to hover if you're not comfortable. The resellers eventually give up or move on after a few minutes. - have an open mind, if you're like "hm maybe" within the first 2 seconds throw it into your cart. You can pull your cart aside later and sort through. Figure out what's worth buying and what you want. I see a lot of resellers also doing this: watch them. I've had resellers/other buyers sort through in some little corner, and nobody else really cares or sees them, but I notice. And I watch them and see what they end up passing on. I am a mid to professional reseller and I truly enjoyed the experience at the Goodwill outlet in Portland .I enjoyed the people ,everybody was really friendly, and we had a great time. lots of good stuff .great prices ,there also was some specialty items in the cases, and I found some Ed Hardy really cool boots .the customers and the employees were all really really friendly and fun to be around.Highly recommend it if you love to dig and find treasure. read more

Although most employees on the floor are very nice, there are a few employees who rotate the bins, who favor specific customers, they bring all the good stuff in bins to those specific customers. This has been seen and reported by several customers to the floor supervisors and the management but there is no action on these employees whatsoever. Not sure if the supervisors collaborate and encourage these employees to do this kind of stuff, but repeated complaints have not had any affect, rather they are emboldened to repeat this behavior on a daily basis. read more

I'm speaking for experience from avoiding the bins entirely. That all just looks like a headache waiting to happen. So if you're coming here, just know what you're in for, and you won't be disappointed. This location in particular is the best for furniture since the larger items that don't fit in stores land here. I couldn't believe my eyes on the prices. We got our dining room table for $25, the chairs for $1 each, our sofa for $40, and my dresser for $30. All of it in pretty good shape, and matched pretty well with our interior, you would've never guessed. But items here literally fly, if you want it, grab it fast, because within the next few hours it usually sells. read more

I've been coming here for years. Recently, we needed furniture and I thought let's check it out. We found a couch in great shape, color and no tears for 7 bucks! We then found a leather chair in amazing shape for 10 bucks. We spent 17 dollars on our living room! What's wrong with that? It can be busy and parking can be an issue. So be patient, it's worth it. If you bring an open mind, there's a ton of potential. The employees are hit or miss. There's definitely rules and conduct. You can't sit on the furniture for a long time. When they say "coming through." Move. Otherwise, I normally keep to myself and haven't had any issues. It's a cool place and if you have a few hours, it's worth it. read more

I enjoyed my experience here! The bins were kinda crusty but that was expected (bring hand sanitizer and gloves). While looking at the toys I spotted a vintage toy! A monchichi my mother had one as kid. I also got a winter coat, some books, a scarf, and two pairs of pants! My friend and I put our stuff together. In line the people behind us offered to combine(?
