I've been a consistent goodwill shopper for over 30+ years and have spent a LOT of $$ AND donated a LOT too, this is by far the WORST experience I have ever had. I was in town visiting a friend and decided to check out the local thrift "haunts".. firstly.. it's soooo dirty! its gross, stinky and uninviting but you push through thinking of the bargins... but wow.. not sure who's pricing these things but dollar store things listed for $3 or more?! ummm NO.. then you get to clothing where they are blanket pricing target/walmart shirts for $6???? I can get those that price when they are new and on sale.. many items on the shelves are broken and just thrown all over. The worst part was check out... when the lady was done charging me I sat there waiting and she looked at me like she was waiting for something and I asked about a bag.. she said we dont do bags.. but you can buy one.. ummm I had just purchased over 15 items of clothing AND 6 ceramic mugs.. I made the comment that they were turning into one of the "for profit" stores and that in all the time I have shopped at goodwill I have NEVER had to provide my own bag.. her snarky little comment was "well you dont have to shop here" at which point I responded "wow! arent you snarkie.. and I dont have donate here any more either" I mean seriously?! WTF?! The goodwill I KNEW was there for the community.. this is NOT the attitude that a company that is supposed to serve the community should be having and this employee should be limited to the backroom where she doesn't interact with people. I hire people and staff big events.. she would have been fired immediately if I witnessed that type of customer service.. and their prices don't serve that community either.. but the sheer attitude of this nasty little woman was shocking.. Oof not good. Not good at all. Although this store has courteous staff and it's in a convenient location next to the Harris Teeter and Home Depot; and donations are easy to drop off, there are a lot of issues. This Goodwill is terrible. There is a smell that hits you when you first enter and the place makes me feel dirty. The selection is abysmal and very low quality which is unusual considering it's located in a rather affluent area. This has to completely cleaned and renovated because this is one of the worst Goodwills I have been to in the area. read more

Over the last few years with the rise of fast fashion, thrifting has gotten tougher. Since this Goodwill is close to the Isle of Palms and right off Hwy 17, I expected the selection to be better. On my last visit, the thrill of the hunt of thrifting didn't result in anything fun, unique, or upscale. The Goodwill off Ben Sawyer Blvd. is much easier to peruse, and I've found some neat things there. One convenient perk of this location is parking, as it shares a lot with Harris Teeter and a few other shops, and it's easy to get in and out and back onto Hwy 17. read more

Yikes. Not clean. Not tidy. Not healthy? Instantly, there was a musty smell in the air and an odd coated feel upon entering. The clothes also had a thick topical residue...like mold/mildew. read more

I donate to this good will - many new/rarely used quality items. I don't know where they go but certainly not kept here. This GW needs a thorough cleaning and revamp. The smell is very unpleasant. The prices are ridiculous. I do not know how people in need can afford to buy something here. Last year, I probably donated over $1,000 worth of my husband's clothes - most he had never worn or worn once. I usually come in to find items that I can place in my garden but, their quality and appearance has gone down hill. I definitely will not be donating here anymore. read more

This is the third in the bathroom series. Goodwill on six mile rd in Mt. Pleasant is the location. I had to use the facilities during my morning travels. Again I was pretty shocked at the cleanliness of the restroom. You definitely know you are not in an upscale place, but if you are in a pinch and need a place in a hurry you could do worse. read more

This location has a very wide selection of clothing and is well sorted. Kitchen supplies are also pretty complete with a good selection of small appliances. Furniture isn't their thing here. If clothes is what you're after, this is the location for that need. read more

I would leave a zero if I could. The attitude of the people who work at drop off is so terrible at this location. There was someone in front of me, so I put my car in park, and the man who works there mumbles something at me with a gesture that says stop. I was already stopped... I had no idea but he put a cone in front of my car. When the car in front of me pulls away, I move back to drive and pull forward running over the cone. I thought this dude was going to have a breakdown. Seriously? Why can't I drop off my stuff without waiting on the guy in front of me to individually go through his hangers. And a cone? You put a cone so close to my car I couldn't even see it and then get mad when I run it over? How was I supposed to know it was there! ‽ add some directions and some verbal annunciation and maybe people could follow it. He was super rude when I was pulling out my carload of clothes, jackets, shoes, blankets, luggage, toys, and laptop bangs TO GIVE TO GOODWILL FOR FREE TO MAKE A PROFIT ON. read more

My friends love when I go through my closet for some spring cleaning so they can get some new "Scott-me-downs" as they call them. Whatever is left goes to the Goodwill down the street. So if you want to look like me a year or two ago, I recommend stalking my drop offs. This store is clean and the staff is very friendly. I love that they have the drive thru and... BONUS it's covered for rainy days. The most convenient place for me to drop my old goods and find some new ones from time to time as well. I am kind-of a junkie for vintage thrift store neckties. read more

As usual, a great experience. I stopped in just now and there was already a line forming to get in. I dropped some trash in their handy can out front and then dropped some items off with Gordon, a friend of my son's. Now I'm off to the DMV. I'll have more done by noon than I generally do in a week! Drive thru lane employee pressed his body up against mine on two separate occasions even after I asked him to give me space. Looked at my plastic organization bins from Target and said "this stuff is basically trash to us." Now if I see him working outside I just wait for another day. read more

Hours say it closes at 8, I'm here at 710 and it's closed completely down. Just a lack of accountability I guess, I hope hours are adjusted or something is done in management to make sure this place runs correctly. read more

Rude employee at the drive thru donation lane. Didn't communicate well verbally or with gestures and seemed highly agitated when I couldn't understand his directions. Topper - looked at my box of donations and tossed one item in my car's back seat saying they couldn't accept plant food ( unopened). That's fine they can't accept it , but at least hand it back or let us take it out of the box ourselves. read more

I've never been treated as rudely as I have at this Goodwill, not once, but twice while dropping off donations. It angers me to think that I'm trying to help someone and I get treated this way. What's even worse is that I called and left a message with the manager describing my experience and they never called back. I will never donate to this store again. read more

I almost always forget how convenient This Goodwill Store is to drop off, household, clothing & basically anything that no longer has a role in your home plus, they give out tax tickets. It's very very convenient with a drive through & helpful staff who will unload your trunk. It's great to know that what one persons junk is, is another mans treasure. I love how this store gives back to the community & at least my stuff is not going to waste but helping others in the community get a fresh start at great prices. Unfortunately they don't accept Venetian blinds or light fixtures. Apparently too high a risk for not working which is fine. I found another home for them. Donate here. I've dropped off items many times, but not after they harshly handled the last few donations. I believe there are so many donations in Mt Pleasant that they are not concerned. I've picked another site. Further away, but they seem to be more responsible. read more

This Goodwill is in a convenient location right off Hwy 17 and next to a Harris Teeter, so convenient that I too often find myself wandering through on my way home after work. It's a huge plus that the staff is always wonderfully friendly and almost go out of their way to greet you with a genuinely happy "Welcome to Goodwill!". However, I've watched the business change over the past year and not always for the best. First off, the prices have noticeably increased all around. Clothing, housewares, shoes, jewelry, you name it. All the items that are priced by group/category- EVERYTHING has increased by at least $2-3 each. Secondly, on top of the general price increases, they individually price and tag housewares and accessories dependent on their judgment of its "value". One plate could be $0.99 and the next one you pick up be $9.99. Lastly and not really a complaint so much as a fact, they now have a policy of NO returns, refunds, exchanges, exceptions, etc. It defeats the purpose of shopping in a thrift store in they are going to be asking prices equivalent to those charged for online antique auctions or at upscale resale boutiques. The items are not cleaned, dusted or spruced up in any manner. They are dirty, used, thrift store quality things that they are pricing like they are in a consignment store. I shop all of the Lowcountry Goodwills frequently and this location does have a fairly large selection of clothes and a decently long wall of homegoods. This location also has a good amount of shoes, but unfortunately they are all scattered throughout the clothing aisles on the tops of the racks. This means you have to walk EVERY aisle if you want to see the full shoe selection- which is not nearly as convenient as if they had a section of wall dedicated to shoe racks. Furniture varies, and since they allow items to be sold and picked up later oftentimes a piece that catches your eye is actually already claimed. This location's book selection leaves a lot to be desired. It's basically one shelf, no organization, and fewer books than most people probably already have in their individual book collection. Overall it's always worth a wander to see what new items have been put out that day, but I've undoubtedly been disappointed with several of the changes they seem to constantly be making. read more

Disturbed... if I had to choose one word to describe my experience at Palmetto Goodwill Six Mile Rd it would be disturbed. I had boxed up kitchenware and a lot of glassware (wine glasses, water glasses etc), art, paintings in frames and ceramic trinkets. We arrived at the drive thru to an employee that provided no direction. We got out of the car to help and he provided little interaction. I tried to explain and show him which boxes were fragile (I had written in big red ink fragile). He told me they don't accept boxes (which was news to me bc we were there last week and they gladly accepted our boxes). He then proceeded to PUNCH through the boxes, grab the fragile items and THROW them into a large laundry cart. I'll admit I was in shock and couldn't even say anything. All I heard was glass breaking. He threw paintings in the cart at an odd angle and cracked the frames and the glass. I drove away and couldn't believe what had just happened. Pretty much at least half of what I had donated was broken or damaged. I stopped in the store and asked to speak with the manager who was very kind and apologetic. I would think twice before donating to this location or at least shake the shock off quickly when they start throwing your stuff and ask them to stop. read more

I was there this am and found 3 female workers on the floor - 1 wearing a mask, 1 no mask and 1 with the mask below her nose who feeling a sneeze lowed the mask completely to sneeze. Seeing me, she quickly said "It's not Covid. It's not Covid." She obviously doesn't know about the disease or proper protocols. I walked out. read more

This store is a hot mess. Women's tops and bottoms are on the opposite sides of the store, so there's little hope of matching. Even worse, the clothes are sorted by color only. This means that there can be an entire rack of a hundred green tops, for instance, but you have to find and read the tag of each item to see if it is your size. Eek. If the staff can only sort by one attribute, wouldn't size be the one? No price tags, only signs that give the shopper a range such as "Shoes 3.99 - 5.99." This store is overwhelming and too time consuming for me. The staff were pleasant, but this store is in desperate need of reorganization. read more
