This location still allows for masks without passing judgement. Great selection of furniture yesterday.

I came to Exchange Factor three times this week and it was worth it. I ended up with two dope suit jackets. The service is top notch. Everyone is really kind and chill. Joan, the owner, is amazing. I spoke with Joan a couple of times and she took the time to describe what items she likes to buy from people. The atmosphere is fun with tons of good music playing. Saturday was real fun with lots of folks shopping, but even with several folks shopping people are chill. This isn't Goodwill and you aren't going to find boring pieces here. You'll pay a bit more but it's value buys that will lead to good looks. Charleston is very lucky to have Joan and Exchange Factor.

My friend found a fun shirt as well so then we went outside and were able to choose 6 items for free amongst the two of us. Honestly, the stuff outside is more picked over, but it's not junk. We picked up some really cool finds that made our haul that much better. I wish I had more time, but I got a punch card filled up so now I can come back and get a discount on my next purchase.

I was in town visiting a friend and decided to check out the local thrift "haunts".. firstly.. it's soooo dirty! its gross, stinky and uninviting but you push through thinking of the bargins... but wow.. not sure who's pricing these things but dollar store things listed for $3 or more?! ummm NO.. then you get to clothing where they are blanket pricing target/walmart shirts for $6???? I can get those that price when they are new and on sale.. many items on the shelves are broken and just thrown all over. The worst part was check out... when the lady was done charging me I sat there waiting and she looked at me like she was waiting for something and I asked about a bag.. she said we dont do bags.. but you can buy one.. ummm I had just purchased over 15 items of clothing AND 6 ceramic mugs.. I made the comment that they were turning into one of the "for profit" stores and that in all the time I have shopped at goodwill I have NEVER had to provide my own bag.. her snarky little comment was "well you dont have to shop here" at which point I responded "wow! arent you snarkie.. and I dont have donate here any more either" I mean seriously?! WTF?! The goodwill I KNEW was there for the community.. this is NOT the attitude that a company that is supposed to serve the community should be having and this employee should be limited to the backroom where she doesn't interact with people. I hire people and staff big events.. she would have been fired immediately if I witnessed that type of customer service.. and their prices don't serve that community either.. but the sheer attitude of this nasty little woman was shocking.. NEVER again ... if i could give ZERO stars I would

I should include that half the furniture in my house was bought here over the years…read more I don't know if they have changed hands or management lately...they used to have the friendliest, most helpful staff. I have made multiple calls trying to inquire about an appliance, as is an option on their phone menu, and has always been a kindly provided service in the past. Today, I was sent to a message system and received an unrequested text to my phone, without me providing my number or a request...about scheduling a time to pick up furniture. Maybe they switched to AI, cause my whole experience with them has been complicated, obtrusive and infuriating. I do not want to drive nearly an hour to gamble on whether they have any of the appliances in that I need to replace the ones in my own household. This used to be a store that was there to help and benefit the community, save trash from the dumps and make surviving more in reach for families and individuals in our area. It seems as though they have moved from their part in the community service and care section. I was treated rudely and with disregard, when they used to be helpful and kind. What a disappointment and contrast to the service they used to proudly provide to our island communities. Kindness, respect and compassion makes people's lives better and you used to be able to depend on that from the East Cooper Home store. That, it seems is now a thing of the past. Perhaps they are busy with the designers in Mt Pleasant, and don't have time for the working families that make up and serve the island communities of Charleston.

(This may not be a bad thing for some so don't get me wrong.) If you're looking for special something that represents Charleston -- look no further than Modern Manor! There are some items that are right on point for what they should cost. However, I did find many things slightly over-priced. Again, this is a place where MANY local artisans can display their goods, so you've got an eclectic experience awaiting you as soon as you walk through the doors! There's a central checkout right at front and center-- I think I noticed two cashiers up front to check you out! Had I not have tried to take in the entire store I will say if you had a question at any point during your perusal, you might be out of luck to find someone. That being said-- I absolutely LOVE that they have included a local craft coffee shop in Harlow & Pearl to add to the charm of the converted barn market for a Country Chic feel. Love that you can grab a coffee and shop at your leisure without someone looking over your shoulder so you're able to experience everything at your own pace. It's a nice touch. The nature of the size of the place, lends it to being a nice space to spend a lazy afternoon, especially in the rain, to look for the perfect gift for that special someone to suit whatever specific occasion you might need to serve!
