I pass by the home goods and small furniture section to get to the books and they seem to get new stuff in often. I'm so happy that this Pembroke Pines location decided to DOUBLE their book selection since the last time I was here. They don't have too many good books the few times I've been here before. This time around, I found 3 wellness books I wanted and was stoked about it. Especially at $1.99 per book for hardcovers!!! Score. Book prices are usually $0.99 for softcovers and $1.99 for hardcovers. But pending on the book, this price may change. Some cookbooks can be more. I do donate to this location often so it's my go to spot for donations. You can swing around the back of the store to drop off items.

The thrift store is located on the side of the property. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 9 to 2. Thrifty Treasures has a small section of clothing. I was most interested in their bric-à-brac section which contained some vintage items. More expensive items were kept in a glass cabinet near the check out. They even had a few pieces of furniture. A side room contains children clothing, books, and toys. I ended up picking up some building magnets for the kids at school for only $4. Which leads me to why I love church thrift stores so much, they are always willing to bargain. Everything in the store was very reasonably priced and you can always make your own price suggestions. This isn't a huge thrift store but it was really fun to explore. They had some unique things and of course the inventory will always change depending on what people donate. You can support a worthy cause, find a treasure, and help the planet by keeping items out of the landfill all by thrifting. Come and check them out.

This a pop up rock T-shirt vintage shop in the Aventura mall. It is located across from the model…read moretrain display. My friend alerted me to its presence or I might have walked right past it. Jara Eisen is the designer of the brand. Jara is a breast cancer survivor and her company supports the charity Fight Like a Girl. The idea for SoJara came to her when she and her daughter were unpacking a box and found an old shirt from a breast cancer walk they did and they didn't have the heart to throw it out. Instead Jara cut it up and sewed it on to a cozy flannel shirt. Now she's doing the same thing with band T's. It is her mission to "spread good vibes through inspirational messages and love for Rock & Roll". I think this is an awesome idea. All the shirts are sourced by Jara. Bands they had included my favorite Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard which was my first ever concert, as well as Metallica, The Who, The Beatles, and Nirvana to name just a few. Some of the band T- shirts have been repurposed and put on the back of vintage jackets and flannel plaid shirts. The also had hats, stickers, and jewelry. It definitely made me feel old that shirts from concerts of my era are now vintage. It also made start thinking about where my old shirts were. My daughter never wanted them although she did steal her father's Lollapalooza shirt. I guess she thinks he was cooler than me. LOL Coming here brought back so many memories about concerts I had gone to and how excited I was to wear the shirt the next day in high school. Love That Thrift opened in August of last year. They are a non profit that donates proceeds to local animal shelter and rescues. There is a main room with household items, decorative items and racks of clothes. There is also two smaller rooms, one with children's toys and clothing and another with pet items and small appliances. I had fun digging through the tub of chihuahua sized dog clothes. Prices were more than fair on the things I looked at and they seemed open to offers. The two young ladies working were amazing, so welcoming and friendly. They accept donations so check back often for the changing inventory and follow them on social media.

Another reason was that I wanted to get tested but unfortunately, they were closed on Sundays which was disappointing since the website said they opened till 6pm. Regardless I drove to Ft Laud, got my test and why did I not leave? I ended up buying shoes, brand new cups for my drinks that I can carry to work, a wooden chopping board, Christmas decorations, and vintage signs. I had a ball. I'm inspired to declutter some more because I know my small contribution is going to a good cause versus dropping it off at a regular thrift store. The staff was super nice. I mean super!! Even when I got tested, the person took the time to go over so many things I didn't know and was very much educated on, and will be visiting the following Sunday to discuss. There's such a stigma around HIV, getting tested, and talking about these in my community but these are real issues that need to be spoken about openly. I'm so appreciative of this organization and will only be donating to the closet.

The thrift shop has a wide open floor plan with low racks for easy navigation through the inventory. Plenty of gently used clothing with corner displays of household goods. I found an incredible skulls and roses 2X collar shirt for only $12.00, but of course it was manufactured in China and my arms could not push through the sleeves - this is a common issue for me. Good supply of Halloween ornaments and Pride costumes. All items are priced very reasonably. The shop offers a clinic for free HIV testing including a full service pharmacy. The thrift shop is a non-profit business and all proceeds go toward AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
