Unbelievably expensive for such used/raggity items. I bought a small lamp for $15, go to Target and see brand new, higher quality lamps for half the price. I buy used, frayed tanktops for $5 thinking I'm getting a deal only to go to Walmart and get new, clean, and far nicer tanktops for $4. After sitting in line for 15 plus minutes to do drop off donations I finally get to the garage door to be the next person to unload. An employee came out of garage and walked down to the end of the line to grab the sign. This was 5:54 pm and apparently they close at 6pm. When this employee came out, he communicated nothing to the people in line, many of which had their windows down. A little after 6 a different employee comes out and says we closed at 6. We let her know the employee came out and said nothing. She told us that we should have heard it on the sound system outside. Also nothing communicated over sound system. It was very disappointing to have been waiting and be the next in line and then told we can't donate. The employee who came out before close could have communicated verbally or with body language that they are not taking vehicles anymore instead left us all there hanging. read more

While this location did offer more selection than other Goodwills, the store was not very clean. Sticking to the floor is not a way to keep customers in your stores. read more

This location is awful. I called 30 mins before I was going to drop off the couch. I wanted to make sure they had room to take it. I was told "yes". I get to the location and was told they are full. I was confused because I just called on this very issue. After talking to the manager they told me to go to the Woodbury location because they have room. I asked the Maplewood manager if she was positive because I didn't want to keep driving around town. She told me they would but she could transfer me to their location. She punched in the numbers but didn't do it right so I got hung up on. I started driving to the Woodbury location and called them at the same time. Turns out they couldn't take couches either. I called the Stillwater location and they told me they could take the couch. Thankfully they were able to take it and that was correct when I arrived. I ended up wasting two hours driving around. I am going to avoid this location moving forward. They should be able to communicate properly and be able to make a exception with their error. It was a giant waste of my time. read more

I drop items there, often as it's close to my house. Yesterday, I delivered a working 5cd/dvd Panasonic player with remote placing it in a rectangular laundry basket. Pulled into "drop off" in back of building letting attendant know I wanted to have the basket back. He started to just dump the 3- piece stereo system into a huge metal crate! I told him, "WAIT!!! it all works and it was all attached by wires!" He ignored me and just dumped it in the crate, obviously destroying it. What a shame. I could have saved myself a trip and thrown it my own trash can. No wonder, when looking at electronics in this store, nothing ever seems to work!!! That's because of their total disregard in how to handle fragile donations. Also, this place is usually a mess, (exception: clothing departments) toys are strewn all over the floors, very disorganized and most of the stuff is filthy. Pictures and mirrors sitting precariously against the wall, are a mess and constantly fall over. Most every shelf department is so disorganized, overstocked and again, a mess!! And, finally, when checking out, cashier asks if I want to "round up" to the next dollar amount. Are they serious!?! I've just donated in good faith, working stereo equipment that just was destroyed and they want more money. Check out what Goodwill pays their executive staff, appalling Finally, when trying to find a clerk to ask for assistance, they are missing in action. I've been going to this goodwill for a while. Usually can find some decent things, although prices are frequently priced higher than their original store tags or if you found a similar item at TJ maxx or Marshall's. Broken items are frequently on the floor, torn or dirty clothing on the racks, and damaged art or books being sold at full price. The store itself feels like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. Sorely disappointed, as this used to be a rather decent goodwill and I've had some really good customer service experiences there in the past. The younger sales associates and employees on the floor have always been kind, attentive and helpful, and the two men I usually see working security at the door are funny and pleasant, always quick to get the door for a customer with a cart or who needs assistance. Today was a totally different experience. After finding a few items and dodging the customer making a point to pull her mask down and loudly complain about breathing, I checked out with a woman who was rude, disrespectful and very condescending. I found two planters that had no price on them and she seemed very put out by the fact I didn't tell her that both items weren't tagged. Sorry, lady, I saw the cute sheep planter and put it in my cart without looking for a tag. She was snarky and flippant about when the Black Friday sale ended and acted like I was trying to pull something over on her by mentioning the GoodwillVIP discount, which is their sales and discount program. After looking at me like I had two heads when I explained her own sales system, she shoved a piece of paper in my hand and told me to sign up for something she wouldn't hear I had already done. After all the broken stuff, the mouth breather, and a woman who was clearly tweaking or high on I don't know what kept leaving her cart with a young child in it and wandering off, I was already uncomfortable, but the cashier just made the whole experience awful. I'm somewhat bummed as this is close by my house and used to be a great thrift store, but I'm not returning to this location or other Goodwills in the future. I'd probably pay less for what I'm looking for at Marshals and not have to be treated like I'm stupid by an employee that doesn't know what they're doing in the first place. Definitely worth the drive to head to Savers in Woodbury or the FamilyFirst thrift in Little Canada. The location on Lexington has great staff and the store is clean, but their selection is really small and doesn't seem to move very quickly. read more

This is their new location. They moved down the street, less than a mile from the old location which was a bit blah.. All I can say is this has to be the twin Goodwill to the Goodwill in Bartlett, IL. Same layout, Target lite set up, displays and all. Ventured in looking for a small desk fan for the work cubicle which was not found, but found a book, an OLD VHS tape and a practically brand new book on design which was quitea nice find. They must have built this new location from the ground up. It looks to be a brand new space, with some brand new space prices. Some of the stuff is wildly overpriced for a thrift store. Hit and miss for items. read more

This place is a mess! I can't remember the last time I found something good here. It is always packed! I went here on a Monday morning. Who on Earth also goes to Goodwill on a Monday morning? Apparently the entirety of Maplewood. I have no idea what they were buying because I sure as hell couldn't find anything worth a nickle. I found a promising blouse but when I tried it on I found out that the entire side of the shirt was ripped open. I won't even give this location a second glance if I drive by. read more

The old location of this Goodwill was seriously sketch--so I was glad to see it in this new, well-lit, non-dank location. The merchandise seemed to have improved somewhat as well. Maybe it's because people no longer feel like they're just dumping their stuff into a black hole of thrift obsolescence. I say somewhat because you still find a higher-than-average ratio of ripped/damaged stuff versus other thrift stores (or even other Goodwills). I can appreciate the as-is aspect of secondhand clothing, but you'd think that at some point a silk dress with a big tear down the front would be given up for naught. You're going to find a lot of Target rejects/end-of-season stuff. That's just the way it is with Goodwill around the TC area. The clothing is still crammed particularly tightly on the racks--making it very tough to browse at times. I've gotten used to the by-color sorting of product instead of the by-size system at other stores, but it can still be frustrating to find the perfect thing at a glance and wrestle it out of the rack...only to realize that it's nowhere near your size. I'm appreciative of the newer, brighter location and the attempts at mini-merchandising. A bit leery of the clothes. Check them carefully before you buy, especially if something seems like a particularly nice piece of clothing--there's probably a hole in the armpit. read more

I'll admit that Goodwill stores usually give me the heebie-jeebies. It's just that you never know what you're going to find. Fortunately, this Goodwill is on the pretty nice side and I've had pretty good luck here, especially finding maternity clothes which can be a challenge. I do wish they'd sort by size instead of color. I kind of get it but it doesn't work when you find a great looking top and it's an XXL. I also love the half off days every week, by tag color. I almost always get lucky and one of my finds happens to be the right color! Not a bad location but seems to be busy a lot and parking can get a little crowded. Drop off is nice and efficient though. read more

Naturally, you can never count on their having what you want in stock. But...ask the clerks and perhaps they'll have some suggestions. My family has donated here for years and has also purchased plenty here. The layout is predictable, once you get used to it. I like their having electric sockets next to the electrical items so I can test them (in my case, it's old boom boxes that I buy). Items are generally clean and they're pretty well priced. Sometimes I score bigtime. Check out their monthly calendar for sr. citizen discount day, colored tag discount day, etc. I suspect they stockpile holiday items so that they can keep holiday shelves stocked--right now it's Christmas that they're stocking and the clerk told me just recently that I should check back a couple times a day because of the large restock and sales pressure on those shelves. If you luck into a moment when there's a markdown percentage on the "red tag" furniture pieces, you will be very glad. Yeah, the parking lot is a bit tricky. Plan how you're going to go around the building by looking at the arrows. Also plan how to enter and exit from White Bear Avenue--you can't cross over to go south while exiting. There are a number of resale shops in the area between White Bear Ave and North St. Paul, which makes an afternoon of junking a fun activity for cheapskates and collectors like me. read more
